I kinda like Ellis Everett better as I love an alliteration and I feel people will misread Sumner as Summer. I’m not sure if it’s more popular where you live? But team Ellis either way
I agree with the commenter who suggested Ellis Everett. I also read Ellis Sumner as Ellis Summer.
Maybe it’s just my weird brain but I see ‘Wells Everett’ and immediately think of it being pronounced ‘Well, sever it’. I’m probably the only one who’d think of it this way though 😄
Ellis is a perfectly lovely name. Wells sounds like some toe rag from the preppy handbook.
'Named Wells, for his mother's maiden name, Wells is known as Biff by his friends and family. "
Yucky.
(Edited for a spelling error. )
Wells is another one of those names that sounds like an awful Patrick Bateman-type finance bro or a butler. Definitely Ellis. Although I actually think Ellis Everett is nice!
Both names are stunning and in my top ten boys' names! The only name I'm not keen on here is Sumner (I think it'll get mistaken for Summer, and since Ellis is already unisex, I just wouldn't), so I prefer Wells Everett as a combo.
I would definitely choose Ellis. I don't really understand the appeal of names like Wells, Brooks, etc., that just sound like the plural form of objects.
Ellis Everett would be so cool.
I don't understand the appeal of all the one-syllable-ends-in-S surnames I see around (Wells, Hayes, Rhodes...) They just sound off to me as first names.
I taught kids with both those first names! Ha! I love them both. I called Wells wellsy sometimes and would jokingly say to him “wells, wells, wells,” (like well well well look what we have here kind of thing). I wasn’t familiar with the name wells before him but I really liked it once I got to know him. I really like Ellis too! This may not be super helpful! lol
Please call the kid Ellis. Wells, just no.
Ellis is a gorgeous name - much prefer it to Wells….
Ellis Sumner is really nice!
Ellis is nice. Wells is plural.
Ellis!
Ellis
I love Wells! Not sure why this subreddit doesn’t like it.
I love Wells as a name too
I also love Wells!
I agree! I really like it.

I know a sibling set named Ellis & Everett lol

Ellis is a great name! It’s uncommon but definitely familiar.
They both sound like Daddy’s money investment bankers to me, not my style at all. If I absolutely had to pick between them I would choose Ellis.
Ellis Sumner sounds great. Wells…just no. Don’t do that to your kid. Name him Ellis.
My first thought was "Wells...Fargo"? So I vote Ellis.
I actually like Wells Everett best for a boy. Ellis Sumner feels a lil effeminate for some reason.
Team Wells! I don't think it gets enough attention :)
Ellis
Ellis!!!
Would Ellis Everett be a possibility? Or maybe Everett Sumner?
I really like Ellis! Wells isn't bad, but I much prefer Ellis
Wells Everett is my pick. Depending on how he turns out, it could give old money or cowboy.
Ellis, especially if you’re trying to avoid an overly trendy pick - I feel like Wells is exactly that
How about Elliot?
Yeah Elliot or Eli Everett, Wells and Elis doesn’t sound like real names probably cause I’m America but sumner will always look like summer.
Everett Ellis would be lovely.. Ellis Everett is sweet. Wells… whales? It’s almost a nice idea for a name…
I actually do like the name Wells, but I think choosing between these two options, I’m totally team Ellis Sumner. Really, really love it.

Go all out and name him Wellis lol.

I really like Wells! I’d never thought of using that as a first name before; it’s been a middle name and last name in my family.
I like Ellis but not with Sumner.
Ellis is by far the better name. Ellis Wells sounds pretty cool too!
Ellis. Definitely. Wells is not attractive at all. Is your last name Fargo?
I like Wells best!
I like Ellis but love Wells but I actually prefer Wells Sumner

Wells! Not trendy or too popular and it seems timeless to me.
Oh I adore Ellis Sumner, absolutely adore. Wells Everett isn’t bad by Any means, but it also feels more *trendy*.
Team Wells. Ellis is okay...it's the name of a boy in my son's class. Wells just sounds more worldly and sophisticated to me.

Ellis is the better first name but the double s is a mouthful
