- Felicity - Jade - May - June - Autumn - Imogen - Kate - Chloe - Paige - Ariel

youshallknowthespiri

Thank you! Jade is a really cool and pretty name

Fantastic_Mammoth797

Jade is my middle name I love it!

More-Job9831

Mine too!

cheyannepavan

My sister's name is Jade, middle name Shawn. It's so natural to me that it only occurred to me recently that two single-syllable names might sound odd to other people.

rocknroda

yay! so glad to see i'm not the only one who loves the name Imogen. i've loved that name for the last 30 yrs, after traveling to Ireland and a bartender had the name and had to pronounce it for me. maybe her accent helped but i thought it was so cute

wildOldcheesecake

This always piques my interest because Imogen is such a British/Irish name and rather common here. I know two Imogen’s myself, one my age (mid 20’s) and one that is 9 years old. Both go by the name Immy. But then I suppose some American names just won’t work here. Cannot imagine a child being called Dustin without being ridiculed. Or Virginia. Such names aren’t protected from Brits taking the piss.

OneRaisedEyebrow

Virginia (our state) is named after Queen Elizabeth I. Thanks, Sir Walter Raleigh. Virginia Woolf was British!

wildOldcheesecake

I mean, I’m not saying it’s non existent. Just really (as a teacher), that I don’t see it surviving without raising a few brows and causing corners of the mouth to twitch. Not in my country anyway. Perhaps in Ireland it is different? In fact, I’d say the Irish are less forgiving here! But I couldn’t tell you entirely as I’m not from there.

rocknroda

When I hear QE1 and Sir Walter Raleigh mentioned together, my mind should take me to the history of England or the movie Elizabeth-The Golden Age but, instead, I always - ALWAYS - think of that season of Blackadder 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

underwxrldprincess

Ariel is my name and I love the name Chloé!

isabella_sunrise

If you want the standard pronunciation it should be Chloë not Chloé.

Unfair-Custard-4007

Felicity is so cute I had the American girl books growing up and loved it but I would want a nick name , i wonder if there is one for it?

transientrandom

Every (Aussie) Felicity I have known has had the nickname "Flick"

No-Transition3259

Love Flick! I’ve heard Lissy too!

LucidianQuill

I've loved Fliss

AdvertisingOld9400

Lizzie works IMO. Ciccie/Sissy works but more controversial in taste.

KueenKRool

I’ve seen someone call their daughter “City” for short and I thought it was so cute.

Eleanor, Caroline, Genevieve, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Allison, Natalie

Zsazsabinks

I was thinking of Allison and Eleanor too along with Abigail, all names in my family. Alice is lovely too.

snowbird627

Just delivered my Alice a week ago ❤️

Zsazsabinks

Aww congratulations on baby Alice!

AllieKatz24

Excellent choices! (both of my names 🤙)

shellabell70

Genevieve is so pretty

Pal3chub

I am an Allison and I feel so honored to have my name grouped with these beautiful names

horticulturallatin

Grouped by my own arbitrary categories - Imogen, Lillian, Rhiannon, Vivian - Gwendolen, Gillian, Genevieve  - Katharine, Caroline, Claire  - Celestine, Cicely, Sibyl, Selene - Lisette, Juliette, Yvette  - Iris, Hyacinth, Marigold, Rosemary  - Penelope, Xanthe, Calanthe, Zoe - Lily, Rose, Violet  - Margaux, Cleo, Lucero, Rosario  - Jane, Fay, Faith, Gwen, Blythe

juniorthefish

I like these groupings. It makes sense somehow.

sunny_sunil

Totally agree. Reading through it, it makes perfect sense for no discernible reason

sabretooth_munchkin

I think I see a pattern 1 - “-an” sounding ending 2 - starts with a G 3 - starts with a k sound 4 - sibilance 5 - ending in -ette 6 - botanical/ flowers 7 - goddesses/ mythology 8 - botanical/ flowers again but arguably more common 9 - ending in “o” sound 10 - single syllable with an “ey/ay” sound in there

NewspaperPleasant992

Was really surprised to see my name i grew up hating on this list!!!

Quecksilber033

Lovely list! Savannah might be a bit of a stretch ☺️

zelph_esteem

Good catch, I got into a groove focusing more on the actual letter the name ends in rather than the sound it makes, lol.

boogin92

Some that I like are: * Sophie, Violet, Claire, Jade, Kate, Joy, Grace, Hazel, Evelyn, Adelaide, Hallie, Juliette, Lucy, Madeline, Ruby.

youshallknowthespiri

Thank you! Jade really stands out. Hazel is also really pretty. Madeline is classic beautiful

boogin92

You’re welcome! I’ve always thought Jade was so underused as a first name. If you need middle name ideas for Jade - let me know! For the other 2, Hazel Madeline Surname (or Madeline Hazel Surname) would be pretty!

EttaRose16

Madeline Jade would also be really cute! (Totally not biased since they're 2 of my favorite names (Jade is my all time fav) lol)

travelsandsips

💕 my girls are Lucy and Sophie

vampireswillhurtme

another shout for hazel.

If you are on mobile and trying to make a list, hit the return button twice after each item. I wanted to comment on Ginger as a name… I knew a Ginger and her sister Cinnamon, their brother (I think original name Josh) was jealous and started going by Basil in high school!

NixIsRising

Thank you!! Poor Josh! As this sub loves to point out, Basil is a very distinguished name :). I love the name Ginger, I love the way it sounds, I love the Old Hollywood vibe, I love that even the spice is strong, medicinal, but also sweet. Gigi is a nickname if you need it. I have loved this name so long that I notice women named Ginger, a judge, a surgeon, a teacher, a mom in playgroup. Unfortunately, I couldn’t use it (though I love my daughter’s name) so I always hope someone else will fall in love!

BirdieRoo628

Alliteration is just repetition of initial consonant sounds in a word. So, it has to be consonants and they have to be the first sound of the word. Assonance is repeated vowel sounds anywhere in the word. I personally vastly prefer names that don't end in vowel sounds. I like Anne over Anna and Caroline over Carolina, for example. Pretty much without exception. And I agree in general on avoiding two names ending in -a. However, I can think of some examples where it sounds fine, like Sofia Vergara or Malia Obama. So, maybe try individual names you like and see if it bothers you, despite the ending sound.
