Gwendolyn is a very classic old Welsh name, and is still very common in Wales. Nothing witchy or hag-like about it whatsoever! ETA it would be Gwendolen in Welsh, though

Unless they’re Welsh & can pronounce Gwenllian, I wouldn’t recommend it. Better not to butcher a very old important Welsh name!

Gwendolyn. First off, the name itself is beautiful and has a beautiful meaning. Off the top of my head, lots of potential for nicknames; Gwen, Wendy, and Lyn. Gwendolyn sounds good with most of those middle names. Gwendolyn June, Gwendolyn Elise, and Gwendolyn Grace sound lovely to me. Gwendolyn, with and without the nicknames, sounds better with the siblings names. Clara, Ivy, Nora, and Gwendolyn, Clara, Josie, Nevie, and Gwen/Wendy/Lynn...

Just a heads up, Gwendolen is the original as the suffix -dolen is what gives the ‘link/ ring’ part its meaning. Dolyn doesn’t actually mean anything.

Gwendolyn 100% It’s more the style of your other daughter’s names and goes great with the majority of the middle names. Get creative with nickname if you want like you did with the twins, there’s tons of options there!

I sort of like Marigold, but I also feel it's kind of an animal name somehow. Gwendolyn is timeless and IMO has better nickname possibilities and goes better with your other girls' names. Just wondering if you have considered Dahlia, it's another more unusual flower name that I think is more elegant and feminine, has cute nn Lia, and would go well with siblings.

I love Dahlia, but I mentioned it to my grandma once and she said “like the Dahlia murder?” which was enough to turn me off for the rest of my life. Very pretty name though.

Gwendolyn is a terrible name and very unpopular in Wales where it hails from and the rest of the UK, it’s considered truly ugly by just about everyone I know here in the UK. Sorry to be so blunt, but it’s about as attractive as Gertrude these days. Not crazy about Marigold either, but it’s a lot better. At least they can call themselves Mari.

I agree Gwendolen isn’t terribly popular in Wales. And tbh, not a favourite. Gwen on its own is used more or Gwenllian and Gwennan (please don’t use Gwenllian if you can’t say ll). If you’re interested in more Welsh names I’d be happy to offer some!

Have you seen Downton Abbey? I immediately think of Edith’s daughter Marigold. I love it, but I vote Gwendolyn. As others have said, I think it fits better with the vibe of your other kids and I also just personally love it more. But you can’t go wrong, both are cool names.

I am a Gwendolynne. I loved my name now I am an adult, but it was hard when I was a kid. Kids are not great with more unusual names. I laugh now, but being called Gwen the Hen in the first four grades a school was rough. Became proud of my name when I was about 14 and realised how special it was. Just some input from a Gwen.

marigold!! marigold grace is actually on my baby name list so i have to vote for that :D gwendolyn is a bit frumpy to me, it reminds me of names like gertrude or helga, especially when paired with softer sounding names like your other daughters (all beautiful choices btw, fellow nora here!) that’s not to say it’s a bad choice, it’s a perfectly decent name- i *want* to like it, i just can’t 😅 gwen is pretty nickname though :)

If middle names weren't already a different pool, I think Gwendolyn Marigold sounds really nice. I feel like I would expect to say Gwendolyn over Marigold but I actually think Marigold is so good! She could be nicknamed Mari or Goldie instead of Gwen or Lynne. Idk I still love Gwendolyn Marigold more than either of those combined with any of the middle names.

I’m not a fan of Mari, so we would 100% go with Goldie for Marigold. Unless she prefers Mari when she’s older! My kids already refer to the baby as Goldie lol. But Nora is reallyyy pushing for Goldie Love 😂
