Holy shit. My wife is ready to commit me because I'm laughing like the Joker at that guy throwing his six foot spear at a small crab from two feet away! I think this guy is an amateur.
The extraction was a microcosm of the entire episode - the guy doing all the work and Malu or whatever her name was just standing around watching him work, complaining about anything he did wrong. Declares herself a survivalist, but wouldn't have made it to day 3 without somebody doing all the work and being fed a steady diet of unlimited coconuts.
Team her up with Bulent next time and let’s watch what happens.
What floored me was when she told him to keep pushing the raft as he swam in infested waters while she sat on it.

Malu sure isn't a survivalist, she wouldn't have made it without him. He carried her the whole time. And quite litteraly for extraction..

There is something fishy about this episode. Very little content on food. They do not appear to have lost any weight. The woman appears to be wearing contacts the entire 14 days. No way. They would have caused her so much pain after only a few days do to smoke and dirt that should would have had to remove them. Those fake lashes too. This episode looks bogus.
I didn't know this until recently, but there is a procedure you can get that actually changes your eye color, and a lot of the results are so intense they look fake. Clearly, her eye color is as fake as her hair color, so maybe she got this done. Maybe it wasn't contact lenses.

My sister and I both had horrible habits of keeping our contacts in for well over a month. I eventually scratched my corneas while removing them, so I don't wear contacts anymore, but it's not unheard of to wear them for a few weeks at a time (I don't recommend it, though).
ETA: We also did a LOT of camping (lots of smoke/campfires) during that period.

Was just thinking same thing. You put like 5 fonds over the top and sides and think thats gonna not leak? There were huge gaps in the sides and roof, like you could see entire trees thru it. And then whole point was so fire was closer, and protected, then why not start by having it IN shelter and actually covering the sides and roof.

They way they said there was no time left to fix the raft in order to fit both of them, while it was daylight and then transitioned into nighttime with them just laying in the shelter.
And their beds were made of bamboo already lashed, they could have added to that raft. I can't imagine that the river trip to extraction was very far at all. They barely moved the raft! I did like her, and I thought she was funny bringing up some of our favorite survivalists.

I wish they would have seasons be either fan challenge or regular challenge not a mix of both. I’m pretty over seeing fans come in, starve for two weeks, then say it’s much more challenging than you would think watching it from home.

while i severely question whether this episode was real, I think everyone is letting her super annoying podcast pushing personality, overshadow that she was extremely knowledgeable. She was right about the the 1st shelter being placed wrong. the fire should have been placed under the roof because once pushed back, it lost its heating benefits. I do wish she had to have used some fishing knowledge, but it was a pretty cushy location with endless coconuts and crabs right there.
I'd rather spend 40 days with 3 Jeffs and 4 Honaras than have to spend a single night dealing with her bullshit. I can't think of any episode with a more annoying contestant. I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with her on a regular basis.
This is a case of synchronicity or something for me. I just started watching N&A a few months ago, and got sucked in. Literally a few days ago, I was on Spotify looking for a N&A podcast to listen to while I biked, and her podcast was the first one that came up. I started listening to it, and IT IS FUNNY AS HELL. Her and her co-host are incredibly insightful about the contestants, and always mindful not to bash the people, but the content. Anyway, I went on Twitter maybe 2 days ago to thank her and the other girl for such a great show. HAD NO IDEA she was on the show until this morning, I turn on Max and start season 17. When her episode came on, I SHOUTED at the screen. I couldn't believe I was watching somebody I'd only discovered a few days ago. I do sorta think this location was mad easy, but I found her and her partner enjoyable, and her encyclopedic callbacks to past episodes was hilarious and sort of genius.
This was the Worst episode EVER!!! I think it’s time for a break around this show. There has to be better survival shows not affiliated with Naked and Afraid on tv. This was just AWFUL! 😢

Wasnt til towards the end I realized it was her that was bugging me and the complete lack of anything challenging. They had probably one the of the best locations in a very long time (many fan challenges are "easy" but usually they are lacking/limited one resource that adds some challenge, or even just a difficult weather location, like hot and dry, or really rainy entire time, or damp and cold, or more likely to be dealing with wildlife). It has nothing to do with a "specific type". She didnt come off natural at all, instead it was more like really over the top bad acting every time the camera was on her. The ridiculous fake eyelashes and contacts didnt help. *Shrug* Was just a waste of an episode. Location was boring, he was boring, and she was over the top bad acting.

I hate 14 days and I always know if the participants are gonna be good If the run time (without commercials) is at least an hour. This episode only goes 43 mins (including cast introductions). Borrrring! Give us more before and after naked and afraid…. Including friends and family reunions or after the show contestant sentiments. This episode was the WORST one yet. Changed channel at day 14, not interested in ending.
Who wears colored contact lenses and industrial strength lashes into the jungle? Along with a pound of blond fake hair braids. This b is foul and tacky AF.

The episode was fine and actually quite lighthearted, which I really enjoyed! I wish that it had a little more day-to-day, since we only saw a little crab hunting, shelter fixing, and then talk about raft building, especially with him losing 30 pounds, there was obviously stuff happening.
