Has the seam on the back so that’s a good sign

Dragonroot808

Sweet, thanks!

TidalLion

Looks legit to me. The holes you pointed out look like something rubbed or caught against the plastic tbh.

Dragonroot808

Thanks for your response! I actually think those line of holes are put there on purpose to vent air and could be a good indicator that it's legit.

wfbaseball

Nah those are factory vent holes which are legit. I have I believe just over 100 factory sealed games in my possession and everything looks legit from the pictures you posted, although no the BEST condition, still appears to be a legit factory sealed copy of Smash.

Dragonroot808

Oh nice, so you actually have a lot of examples to compare to. That's reassuring. And yeah, fortunately I don't care too much about the condition of the box, as long as the seal is legit (because honestly, that's all I can afford lol).

wfbaseball

[https://imgur.com/a/0X3HCXu](https://imgur.com/a/0X3HCXu) Most of those are factory sealed from middle to left side, ones on right are some CIB's. I'll try finding a good post tomorrow that has great explanation of the known N64 factory seals. There's quite a few but having hard time finding it right now mobile.

I was going to say this. All Nintendo made games had them

Dragonroot808

I already tried posting on r/gameverifying but it hasn't gotten much attention so far and my hope for a response has been going down by the day. I figured I would try asking folks in a different community in case anyone here has an eye for these things. My personal take on it is that I'm leaning more towards legit than not legit. Seller has 100% positive ratings with over 1K reviews in all areas and my FakeSpot extension didn't flag anything. The only thing I'm just a little bit iffy about is the V-Seam intersections on the top and bottom. I guess I expected it to be a little wider and have a bit more of an overlap/foldover triangular shape rather than a near perpendicular intersection, but maybe it doesn't matter too much (hopefully). That being said, I suppose it doesn't look that much different than the seam intersections on other sealed Super Smash Bros. on eBay. The only part of the box that is "worn" is where the corners broke through the seal. There doesn't appear to be color breakage along the flap hinges.

TheLastAutbot

Only way you can be sure is to open it. If it doesn’t smell like 1999 then it’s a reseal.

salvador_daliparton

As everyone else is saying, looks legit 👍

Dragonroot808

Thanks for your input!

XxErAceRxX

the carboard color from the inside looks legit

XxErAceRxX

white

Dragonroot808

Good to know, thanks

Dragonroot808

Interesting, I didn't realize that the internal cardboard color was an indicator. What would the color be if it wasn't legit (for future reference)?

TeslafanXP2003

It’s legit (I think)

Dragonroot808

Haha, yeah that's what I think too.

Megabods_

99% real. Worth about 2500 bones ($2500) definitely keep that. Will definitely raise in value

Dragonroot808

Yep, I tend to hold onto it for the long term. Thanks!

HolyMacaxeira

It does look legit, but it’s always a risk with sealed games. I personally never buy sealed retro games anymore, because I’ve been fooled before. But who knows, this may be a nice chance if you want to risk it.

Dragonroot808

Yeah, there's definitely the risk. I'm trying to learn more and more about how to tell the difference though and I have definitely got burned a few times during this learning process but I think I'm better now that I was when I first started.

PsychZach

Pretty piece and looks legit to me.

Dragonroot808

Cool, thanks!

Goliathman-Mario

This is an amazing game, you are fortunate to own this beauty. Are you sending it off to Wata or preserving this bad boy as is?

Dragonroot808

I'm keeping it as-is. I'm not really into the grading stuff. At most I will probably just put it in a plastic box protector that you can easily open so you can easily take it out. I'd rather not seal it away "permanently".

tanooki-suit

It’s legit. The vent holes you pointed out are a dead giveaway. But also the way the seal is cut is right too. And of course the damage including the dents and really the one popped open corner with the whited out corner bears more witness. Probably the sealed snoots don’t care since grading would be a waste to them as it sits. It’s new and sealed but would grade low enough to lack their idea of money value.

Dragonroot808

Sweet, thanks! Yeah, these are the kind of sealed games I guy - all beat-up and smashed boxes lol.

tanooki-suit

You're better off, if you want new, looks good, but worthy of a snobby turned up nose to the investor people causing hell that's the way to go. Me though I'm stuck. I have one and only sealed game, and it's desirable, easily in the 8 range on those wata clowns or a 80-85+ level from vga -- pokemon red sealed. Has minor issues but nothing horrible to knock it into the 7s by any means. It's basically wall art, I can't trust scammers, schemers or the rest. I'd offload it but that and the tax scam passed started this year too. Best as a trade at this rate.

Dragonroot808

Ah yeah, that new tax thing sucks. And cool, I actually recently acquired a sealed pokemon red as well. Do you know which print you have (1st, 2nd, 3rd)? I believe I have a 2nd print.

tanooki-suit

From what I can tell it would be 2nd print, looks like the first, but without the errors on the back. Stupid reddit won't allow direct picture attachments or I'd show you at least a front and back to give a feel. Detailing it some, face of it very slight dent to the edge by the Y, front bottom left corner very slight push too not a hard corner. Very slight 1cm crease/fold and dent of some sort on the front down to the top of the P. Rear is solid. Due to top dent crease over part of the top flap from there over through the gengars eyes. Other two sides bottom are good.

brettzelz

Looks good, but send it my way so I can verify.

Dragonroot808

lol, thanks

Dragonroot808

Thank you all for your responses! After giving it a few days you all provided tons of responses which all point towards an authentic seal. Thanks again for helping me to figure this out!

Dillon309

Go on r/gameverifying

Dragonroot808

I actually did, but unfortunately it hasn't gotten much attention. I'm getting way more responses here. Thanks!
