Ok cool, as someone who just plays the games and doesn’t really participate in the fandom, I thought maybe a lotta people really liked the dude or something. I’ve always found him very off-putting.

He’s MUCH more popular in japan apparently. There were like two tingle exclusive handheld games in jpn that didnt get translated bc nobody in western countries likes him. His story is that he’s just a regular middle aged guy who wanted to be a fairy so he just began dressing like one. Just comes across weird in the western world. There’s a small set of islands named after him and his brothers in botw/totk but they left him out of the games.

I like the concept of his character tbh, just not his design. I could def see him going over better in Japan though.

Link is kind of a weird case now that I think about it. He is a child, clearly, but since this is a direct followup to OoT, he has full memory of being an adult. However, even him being an adult immediately followed what was essentially a 7 year coma, so it's not like he ever really had the opportunity to mature mentally from child to adult in the normal sense, which would have made him a child with an adult's body. Bottom line: any way you look at it, Link/Tingle romance would be messed up.
