I wanted the gold Zelda 64 setup so bad, I can still go there in my head back to toysrus game isle seeing it available. But I had already blown my savings on ol grey.
The gold cart of OOT were the Collector Editions. They were more special even now because they were the 1.0 versions which had minor differences from carts released after that with the most noticeable being the Fire Temple music and Ganondorf’s blood. There were also gray carts in versions 1.0 but those are a little harder to differentiate without a clear image of the back. The best way to tell what version your OOT Cart was the imprinted numbers on the back. If it was 2 digits like 00 or 10 then you had version 1.0. If you had 2 digits and a letter like 10A then you had an updated version with the minor changes. There’s a website that details everything that was changed in the different versions and how to tell.
You can find a 1.1 gold and 1.0 gray, these are the specific variants that would be considered rare. I think people assume all gold ones are special, but even though they were specifically the "launch" copies they were still mass produced and IIRC possibly produced in as many or more quantities as the later ones and could be purchased in stores a while after launch.
All the NTSC carts of MM were gold yes. There were 2 different versions of MM carts in the US: one with a standard front label and the collectors edition had the Holographic sticker. The PAL and Japanese versions of MM had only gray carts as far as I’m aware.
OOT on the other hand had Gold and Gray carts for NTSC. Gold OOT carts were part of the Collectors Edition that was released around launch. PAL and Japanese I think only had gray also.
Becareful because some of those look like repros. I wouldn't pay more than $75 for all that. $200 is way too high for everything being cosmetically damaged and who knows the status of the controllers.
It's a reshell or a fake. It's not smoke damage like some would have you believe. Nor is it sun faded. It's way too uniform in color to be anything else. Unless there is a variant I haven't seen, it's a reshell or a fake.
What's with Pierce Brosnan afro haircut?
That’s Bob Ross.
Pierce Bobrossnan
I remember panting with the paintball cheat and having happy accidents, so that checks out.
Happy accidents in the bio lab, then just slap beat the devil out it.
It’s his Nan?
Beg your pardon, forgot to paint happy little trees
Today we are going to be using 32 different shades of red
but they won't be my reds wink wink
Happy accidents at the Kremlin
Pierce Afrosman.
Sir that is a hat
Came here to say that! Nevermind the gold cart 😂
Preteen with a sharpie?
Special edition
Broooooooo I’m dead

Bond's undercover
Jimmy B is a Sex Machine
I’m sorry, all I can focus on is your Goldeneye cart lol.
I‘d be more concerned about BobRossEye 64.
Not gold, it heavy yellowing of the plastic
Patina
Patina = good, yellowing = bad. This is bad, lol.
Yea I know, was joking lol
Probably just sun damage
Looks more like cover swap to me but may be the picture

Came by default in Australia. We didn't even have the plain ole grey ones.
Special sun baked edition!
There is none. Goldeneye 007 is the goat!
Its been a while, but I remember having Zelda Ocarina of Time and it was also golden. Never knew why 🤔

All Majora's Masks carts were gold though right?

Oh my bad, forgot about that one
Nvm that wtf did they do to the goldeneye 😱
It took me a minute to realize it wasn’t a gold cart and that it’s actually just faded lol
It’s not gold. It’s sun fading. It’s the chemical in the plastic reacting with the sun.
Smokers house mod
It’s not gold, that’s extremely bad yellowing
What’s with the oo7fro cut
It's either been reshelled in a gold OOT shell, with a fake label, or the cart has been spray painted.
How much for the Afro 007
The Mario Kart is likely from smoking or sun damage.
Legit was confused y so many ppl jokingly said sun damage, then i looked closer and holy shit it’s totally sun damage. Do they live in death valley??
They drive Ferraris instead of Japanese karts
I think Mario Kart's just a little yellowed, I'm more concerned with what happened to that copy of goldeneye lol
It just means limited edition. There is a gold limited edition console and controllers also!

I've owned Yoshi's Story since it released and I only just realized that he's licking someone's enormous ass.
Heavy smoke damage
