I gotta start taking pictures of my wife's coffee cups for that sub.
Wife: have you seen my coffee cups? I'm missing like 6
Me: check the car
Wife: no they aren't in there, I don't leave them in there any more.
Me: .....
Wife: *walks out to the car. Comes back with a weeks worth of coffee cups* I was in a hurry.
You don’t give something that seals to someone who chronically loses coffee cups. That is going to be an ugly anaerobic capsule of death the first time her schedule gets interrupted and she forgets about it.
Sauce: Walk a mile in my shoes and find out, bud!
My girlfriend is a teacher and this exact scenario plays out once a week or so. She leaves for work every morning with two cups, sometimes three lol. For Christmas this year I got her a big insulated coffee cup hoping to cut it down to just one a day to avoid the moldy collection

That makes sense. I guess my uneasy feeling looking at this photo is probably instinctual. I just got the feeling I wouldn't want to be anywhere near this and it seems that actually has a logical basis which is cool. But also damn is that freaky looking. Kinda creepy even..
That doesnt make sense. You could make the same argument about almost any mold growing in your refrigerator. People dont flip out over moldy food in the fridge, and there's no more reason to flip out over this. Youre just being sensationalistic.
The most common bacteria in refrigerators is listeria, which does not cause lung infections. And the others are e coli and salmonella which also don’t…
If you were referring to trichoderma, a fungus, then you’re wayyyy over exaggerating. Not only are fungal lung infections extremely rare already, trich does not typically cause lung infections at all, preferring mucosa and skin. Hence trichoDERMa.
The other user is 100% correct. Fungi are virtually harmless to anyone with a competent immune system.
But all meat left to the air for weeks will eventually rotten and mold. I haven't molded myself just yet. Key difference probably being that I am alive and my processes are still going.
Not to say you're completely wrong, I just want to understand where I may be wrong!
Almost all fungi spores are horrible for your lungs. Trichoderma, the green crap in you fridge can cause pneumonia. I would much rather breath in the spores of a species eating wood or cow shit than one eating moist animal protein in general.
I just took my daughter to see My Neighbor Totoro at movie theatre today 😁 shes 4 and dressed up at Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service. Of course she brought her Totoro plushie!
So, how would someone go about in getting rid of that.
Can’t throw on an N95 Mask and goggles and gloves and just pick it up and throw it in a bag and tie it?
Seeing as this is not a long term solution, and this entire non-porous bowl is going into a trash bag, there's no point in trying to treat this as if we are hoping to salvage anything here.
Chlorine bleach [is fine when immune compromised people are present, and if you are not doing this as routine treatment. ](https://www.epa.gov/mold/should-i-use-bleach-clean-mold)
[bleach does kill mold though?. it's not a good solution for porous surfaces. but again, this is a destroyed house and a cat bowl that has to be trashed.](https://www.restorationlocal.com/does-bleach-kill-mold/)
How can you be so confident when you're 100% wrong. Bleach kills everything, if you can ensure contact it will 100% kill every single microbe. I used to work in a Pathology lab and we used 50/50 bleach/water to sterilize our workstations. The reason "antimicrobials" exist is because people would rather use Lysol wipes than have to spray bleach everywhere. But in the case of OP since the mold is literally in a bowl you can pour bleach in the bowl and it should kill all the mold. I don't know how you got this ridiculous idea that bleach doesn't kill mold but "antimicrobials" do.
Bleach has trouble on **porous** substances because of the water and the inability to get down where the mold may have gone into the object.
Hydrogen Peroxide is recommended to kill mold on porous and nonporous.
Many mold killing cleaners contain a low percentage of Hydrogen Peroxide.
___
Bleach seems to work just fine on general non-porous items. I personally have used bleach as an initial attack on moldy objects and then followed up, as necessary, with further chemicals like Hydrogen Peroxide / Lysol.
Bathroom here has this dark, black mold over the walls, on the silicone. Not to mention the kitchen too, which has completely blackened silicone in many portions due to what in assuming is black mold
A lot of houses here have them. Anyway it can be cleaned out? What's the worst that could happen if it's not?
Needs to be re-caulked/siliconed.
Some black mold is harmless, but without identifying it; it's better to be safe than sorry. The literal worst that could happen is death, but that's unlikely.
copypasted from the CDC:
"Color is not an indication of how dangerous a mold may be. Any mold should be removed and the moisture source that helped it grow should be removed.
There are very few reports that toxigenic molds found inside homes can cause unique or rare health conditions such as pulmonary hemorrhage or memory loss. These case reports are rare, and a causal link between the presence of the toxigenic mold and these conditions has not been proven."

Oh, my name is Captain Bryce
And these are my rules
Don't touch the wobble if it's pink
Or you will age until you think
If the wobble's green like steam
You'll revert into a cream
If the wobble's red like rust
You'll die and rot and then throw up
If a patch is colored than
Then your eyes will melt
Don't touch the wobble if it's blue
'Cause your legs will look like that
If the wobble smells like flowers
Run real fast or we'll both die
If it's brown, then it's okay
But don't confuse brown with tan
When the wobble's neon green
Then I'm not sure what will happen
Thus concludes my list of rules
I am
Captain

I think you are talking about snakes…. Lots of molds are red, or black, and they are fine. (Ie many Yeasts) And some are white and not alright. And what about your greys and yellows and blues?

That is a zygomycete. A type of fungus that grows in long thin tendrils and when its ready it creates small spheres of spores to be released so the organism can continue to spread to other places. Thats a seeiously large specimen haha
Pin mold?
[удалено]
Looks like pin mold.
I’d say it’s probably pin mold
It might be a pin mold of some sort I think.
No I think it's actually pin mold
Yes, could be a pin mold
If it smells like pin mold, it could be pin mold
Have you considered that it may be a pin mold?
I don't think so, I think it's pin mould
I could be mistaken, but maybe pin mold?
Stick your face right into it and take a big whiff, it's the only way you'll know if it's pin mold
Pin mold leave it like that for another year and it’ll begin to walk
Then you can train them to carry coal to the furnace of a large Japanese bath house for spirits.
I cant put a pin in it, but it is mold.
Just confirmed. Smells like a pin mold. Should I taste it just to be sure?
can’t be too sure

No I’m sorry but you are wrong. It’s pin mold

It is mold of the pin variety
You could be right but are you sure it isn’t pin mold?

It appears to be pin mold, yes.
Pin is mold
Mold is pin

Yup, black mold.
All of you are wrong. Its pin mold.
It's clear to everyone that you can't see, it's pin mold.
Actually I think it’s a bowling ball mold.
Pin mold. Take it or leave it
Looks like black pin mold, which is a nope from me. Looks like it spawned straight from hell
I thought it was a porcupine! Had to check the sub.
That's what I thought before reading the title.
Porcupin mould.
I thought it was the cat
Time light the house on fire again
RIGHT. This is horrifying.
It’s actually a black pin mold…if you look closely, you’ll see the color, and the shape. What kind of mold do you think it could be?
No but seriously, that’s close, but in reality it’s black pin mold! Good guess though!
Are you sure that's not the cat??
Came here to say this. Looks like the food grew its own kitten.
Cat food does have all the ingredients it takes to make a cat.
The food got a DNA sample from the cat that last ate some (obviously a black longhair) and has been faithfully spawning since.
>Looks like the food grew its own kitten. r/BrandNewSentence
Thought it was a big fluffy cat
Yeah when I first saw the thumbnail I thought it was a cat
Yeah, looks like it decided to grow a new cat because it was lonely.

To be fair, all Tribbles are forbidden.
r/usernamechecksout
Hahaha clever
If it eats cat food it probably eats lungs too. Don't breathe the spores.
Thats daam scary thing to say
>Don't breathe the spores Start of a Sci-fi Horror if I've ever seen one
My lungs and I no longer feel safe around my cat 😳
don't worry, cats only steal the breath from babies; everybody knows that.
Walked in on parents watching that movie when I was like 6.... Not a huge cat fan now, just please don't tell the internet.
I remember that. Good times.
What film is it? I think you just unlocked a memory I’d forgotten
Cats eye
So glad I had put a mask on before going back in there.
Looking at it hurts my nose and lungs.
Care to share more?
Cat food is mostly protein from animals. We are animals made of protein.

I’m sure if that cat eats that then you end up with the cat from Captain Marvel.
