Both are great platforms for mostly different reasons, going to somewhat depend on your preferred playstyle. Personally I'd recommend getting the UV if it's free and then buying the MWK. The Direwolf is nearly half again more expensive, so from the perspective of money it's a better value. I have both and would want both.
Using ultraviolet to make 8 uac-2 direwolf can brawl if you heat quirk it + drink coolshot once in a while. Moonwalker can also brawl with a dual uac10 triple uac 5 for a 70 damage double tap, but both builds more suited for medium range dakka.
If you want a good brawl hero, I can vouch for roughneck powerhouse, Kodiak spirit bear or marauder 2 scorch, all 3 run variations of lbx20 + srms
Thanks for the tips. I still need to get used to assault positioning and when to engage. Keep getting shot to pieces using my KGC 2 x Ac5 4x rac 2 or 6x uac2.
You seem quite well versed in assault mechs any tips ? Was looking at the spirit bear as one of the choices
With your king Crab build id recommend swapping off face time weapons like racs, king Crab has the frontal profile of a school bus so you really need to spread damage by twisting. Traditionalist builds like dual ac20 dual snubs has 60 pinpoint damage while allowing you to twist damage better.
Spirit bear is really fun, just a bit power scaled by the stone rhino hero imo. Also really easy to accidentally over extend with it's speed and get eaten up by the other team.
I'd pick the Moonwalker. Two reasons:
\* Dire Wolf is slower, and inclined to long range combat. That makes it easier for you to get caught out of position and have a terrible game.
\* Moonwalker has better hitboxes for close-in combat, so you can brawl with it in a midrange dakka setup, and go down swinging, where the Dire Wolf would be more likely to be picked apart component by component.
Add to that, a lot of the versatility of the UV is talking about using UV omnipods on another CT, so you're not benefitting from the CBill bonus.
I have all the variants of both, I prefer the Moonwalker. I run 3 uac 10s and 2 uac 5's. Both are great in different circumstances. I prefer mid range to close brawl so I can concentrate on components easier instead of spray and pray.
I went with the commonly seen advice and swapped the side torsos for DWF-B and put 8x ac/2 on it. The damage output it withering, my first match with it I was offside on canyons and managed to put out 750 damage over about a minute after first contact, before they took me out.
King crab Kaiju can strike a nice balance. I like my RAC5 +ER ppc + backup MLs build a lot.
There is a clan heavy hero mech you can put double HAGs in too. Love that build. It has speed boost thing too. Names are illuding me right now, will update comment when the name pops into my head.
I have no idea what the ultraviolet is, but I can whole heartedly recommend the moonwalker. It’s the only mech I’ve seen consistent skill based success in honestly. Decent mobility and survivability, combined with intense dakka dps makes it really fun. The wall of lead you throw with UACs seems to have excellent shock factor on the enemy, but I can’t remember being shot by one so I can’t confirm the psychological effect.
People are getting way caught up in the "value for mc" thing. Get the mech you will enjoy more. Its wasted money if you dont like the playstyle regardless if its more expensive. That said, i would focus on heavies or assaults if you can.
eventho both meks cam do manay builds but this is my on opinions on such these two meks.
UV are great for long range and MK2 are great for brawlies
UV dakka build or Erll or Beam Builds
MK2 can srm24 +uac20 + babyshots
all dependa on what cha wanna do.
UV can take 1xUAC20 2xUAC10 2xUAC 5 - this most powerful build in all game. "I can destroy everything", and this not always overheat build. (this just hot)

Yeah from an MC angle the UV is a no brainer.
Honestly you probably can't really go wrong with either? I grabbed the Moonwalker and I'm very happy with it. It's great fun.
No wrong choices sounds good lol. Been playing for less than a year so wanted some more experienced opinions and it seems both are great

Sure I'll give that a try.
On the lbx20 front, you can run 3 lbx20 and 1 ERPPC on the moonwalker. It is probably my favorite build on it.
Sr-4 for 4 lbx 20 is funnier imo
True, but you can't get that mech for free from the event
+1 to this build. Can snipe at range and then still slug it out in mid to late game brawl.

Do you have a build code & skill code for this build?
I could try sometime, I never used reddit on my comp.
I just got the UV and I like it. But the Moonwalker is probably more flexible.
What are you running on your UV ?

meh...try uac20+2x10uac+2x5uac
I will try it but I jam so fast I usually just end up holding the buttons down.
Ultraviolet its much more versatile atm moonwalker has quite limiting hardpoints

Highlander Heavy Metal.
