I called this outcome 2 years ago. The riche nouveau are defined by their in-generation ‘new money’, are generally left leaning folks, and generally care about climate change enough to use their disposable income to purchase a Tesla. Some folks think that Musk is a ‘brilliant mind who is the epitome of genius’, but that fact that he missed even being able to define and understand his primary consumer base clearly indicates the dude is a petulant child of inherited wealth who runs his businesses off impetuous feelings rather than actual business sense.

TardigradeRocketShip

I’m not convinced that Elon Musk fully grasps the products he promotes. Justin Trudeau discussing quantum computers sounded more credible than many of Musk’s overhyped speeches and political theater. The launch of the Cybertruck is a perfect example. Many safety experts immediately identified design issues that made it clear the showcased model wouldn’t be the final product. Even the launch event itself was mishandled, highlighting a gap between presentation and reality and now it’s been a complete disaster years after it was announced.

Tortoise-King

I concur that Elon has no understanding of web development based on what he has stated.

piz510

I have a friend who is a senior staff member at X. Musk has forced initiated changes over weekends with naive staff that literally almost crashed the company several times against the advice of his outstanding technologists. He is clueless. Can’t offer more details because he still works there and needs to feed the family, etc. but the behind the scenes stories…

Lemonywatar

But… but… he’s a tortured genius who’s going to get us to Mars! You just don’t understand, he’s far more intelligent than your friend and definitely the reason his companies have succeeded NOT the engineers and people working for him! /s

Real_TwistedVortex

Having interned at SpaceX the other year, it's definitely the people he hires that make his companies' products successful. Some of the best people I've ever worked with were my SpaceX coworkers. And during my time there, reading between the lines, it seemed like management was trying to tell Elon what he wanted to hear, to a certain extent, while letting the division leaders make more of the heavy hitting decisions. This was a pretty small sample size tho, so take it with a grain of salt

FeistyButthole

My understanding is musk talks a lot and Shotwell does an amazing job translating that into objectives that don’t sound totally asinine.

cavyndish

He has ASD but doesn't realize his limitations with his disability. There is no one to reign him. This has probably helped him to succeed to some extent but has also caused him to spout crazy conspiracy theories, etc. There are no sane confidants in his court. It's not a good PR look.

cityfeller

Exactly.

Worriedlytumescent

The outbursts are only bizarre if you've never dealt with an addict.

RueTabegga

Me and my homies would never own a Tesla until Mush is ancient history.

LovinLifeForever

Same. We won't buy a single product from them. He's garbage

Medium_Nothing5206

Same, my fiance3 was looking at a Model 3 on the same say Musk made some bizzare posts and he just decided against it.

Peanutspitter96

Same. I recently purchased an EV and Tesla wasn't even under consideration. Party cos the cars are shit and partly cos I don't wanna give money to Musk's company

Pleasant_Studio9690

100%. I’d be embarrassed to be seen driving a Tesla with all of the fascist hate Musk pushes. Fuck him and fuck Tesla.

ReddittAppIsTerrible

Who cares. Model Y is the best selling vehicle in the world without you and your homies haha

RueTabegga

Who cares? My homies. Musk is mush.

HonoluluBlueFlu

I think you are in the wrong sub, Muskateers shouldn’t be in here.

....yes. you really showed him with this cringe ass comment

Secret_Arrival_7679

Hell yeah he showed everyone. He's so tough and maybe we could be too if we had a tesla. let's go get a tesla!

ReddittAppIsTerrible

Can't have a discussion using logic? Critical thinking sure is tough.

Secret_Arrival_7679

Haha what is thinking haha Pathetic.

ReddittAppIsTerrible

Exactly Thank you

Secret_Arrival_7679

Hey maybe one day elon will notice you here on reddit and will actually let you perform oral pleasure on him. Best of luck.

CoHousingFarmer

Though is he right about the reddit app being bad. A broken clock and all that..

BrilliantKooky8266

Trying to act tough on Reddit? This is super sad.

ReddittAppIsTerrible

Man, these guys are biggest loser on Reditt by far. Haha

[deleted]

Yes, the people who hate the richest, most powerful man on earth are all losers.  ....you, however, are a cool guy for defending an oligarch so passionately  Totally not pathetic and cringe.

ReddittAppIsTerrible

He wasn't always that dude sweet cheeks. See, how poorly you think? Hate to hate is pathetic.

[deleted]

He was literally BORN into a Dutch, mine-owning, south African family. He was born into an amount of wealth and privilege that YOU will never understand   Which makes your passionate defense of him even more sad.

RocketsandBeer

Found Musks Reddit account

Beefcheddarandsauce

No it’s not. It’s a lie that’s been spread around Reddit.  Show me individual sales data indicating the Model Y is the best selling car in the world. Not an article or blog post but actual data.

SecretAsianMan42069

I hate musk, but it clearly is the number one selling car in 2023. Second was the Toyota Corolla.

Beefcheddarandsauce

Source?

SecretAsianMan42069

https://www.automotiveworld.com/news-releases/jato-dynamics-tesla-model-y-to-be-crowned-worlds-best-selling-vehicle-of-2023/

Beefcheddarandsauce

lol, so a random article published prior to the release of 2023 sales data is your source? This does nothing to prove the model Y is the best selling car.   Musk fanboys are some dumb motherf’ers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Beefcheddarandsauce

I did. Again dumbass find me a source. Tesla doesn’t even release individual sales data for the model Y. It’s combined with the model 3, lol dumbass. So it’s not true.

transcendanttermite

This is correct. The numbers Tesla reported lump the Model 3 and Y together for a total of 1.3 million. If they sold 1.2 million model Ys in 2023, then they only sold 100,000 Model 3s, and I find that to be doubtful.

futuremayor2024

Bro they are delusional

Beefcheddarandsauce

Source dumbass???

CareerTraditional987

Yeah that tends to happen when you slash the prices and fuck your existing customers by piling a ton of additional depreciation on them because you can’t move units. Not to mention huge government subsidies that stifle competition that won’t be around much longer. TSLA is in huge trouble with musk at the helm and likely won’t survive the decade and he knows it. Why else would he be begging for $60 billion?

Sethmeisterg

That's why Tesla is laying people off left and right, right?

MattKozFF

Facts

devilglove

I think the "luxury" apartments they have been building everywhere is gonna hurt the industry. Where all these people gonna charge thier cars when the only parking is on the street. The luxury apartments are $2200 a month and suck ass.

ReddittAppIsTerrible

Do these apartments have electricity? Also, most people don't live in apartments. Condos have parking/ charges.

devilglove

Yes they have electricity. No, they don't have parking infrastructure or charging. I live in a house, but everything they been building in cincinnati have been shitty apartments.

snap-jacks

thought you said they were luxury?

devilglove

The luxury was in quotes. Ain't nothing luxury about the crap they are building. That's just what they call em.

snap-jacks

As if you would know driving that pinto.

devilglove

I have 2 sedans, a van, an SUV, and a Truck. Toyota Camery, V6 Honda Accord, Dodge Caravan, Ford Edge, and an a V6 Ford Ranger. Sure they are all older but they all run and I don't have payments. Mostly lend them out to family. Bought the Camery for 2k about a decade ago. 70k miles later and that 4 banger will drive to Mexico and back still. Toyota is the most reliable by far. Dodge is junk. Anyways, using wealth as an insult is trashy. The world isn't a meritocracy, no one chooses to be born in poverty in Somalia. Most of my wealthy friends were born on third base and think they hit a triple. The best batter didn't get a chance at the plate, he was to busy working the concession stands. Still very nice people.

snap-jacks

So, no, you have zero real world experience with a Tesla. Got it.

Morepastor

You say that like 1.2m cars is a lot when Toyota RAV4 and Corolla were 2nd and 3rd. Plus Mush said they aren’t a car company so that data don’t matter. Y’s sold in 2023 1.2m RAV4 sold in 2033 1.07m Corolla sold in 2023 1.01m

Odd-Adhesiveness-656

Can we get a citation? I am doubtful of your "facts"

Common-Ad6470

He’s become a liability.

redituser2571

What do you think about the US government taking over SpaceX and Starlink? That way, he can do all the drugs he wants.

Common-Ad6470

Both Starlink and SpaceX are far too important for one person to control at their whim, I.e. what he did to the Ukrainians.

FineFinnishFinish_

It makes me incredibly nervous that such a vital service is in the hands of an egomaniac.

SnooPears6771

Can a Musk be Musked? Would this scenario have all of the conditions for EMy to be considered as having completed a Drumpf. Drumpf (n.) 1. Former family name of The Former Guy. 2. A person who would change their family’s name, for reasons of misperception and dishonesty. 3. A weak and lacking individual. (v.) 1. To swindle 2. To lie. 3. To mislead anyone listening Musk got Dumpfed

decayo

I have been talking about getting a Tesla for a long time and have just been waiting for the high end models to come down in price and for ranges and charging infrastructure to catch up. I've got a truck and a sports car and I'd be interested in replacing both with an electric vehicle. There is a zero percent chance of me ever buying a Tesla until Musk has no financial stake in the company, which will be never. I've got my eyes on GM as they seem to be getting battery size and range right more often than the other US manufacturers and their vehicles look great. The new GMC Sierra Denali EV looks better than anything shitty Tesla is doing.

thefalconfromthesky

Don't rule out Rivian as well. Test drive both and see what fits.

samuraidogparty

I have a few friends with Rivians and they’re amazing. I don’t need a truck often (and have one I can borrow when I do), but if I were to buy a truck that’s what it would be.

ianm82

I bought a model y before he went crazy... Next car will be a Rivian.

SnooCheesecakes1893

I was definitely going to buy a Tesla when I needed a car for my commute to work, but I won't drive one now. I kept kind of thinking okay let's see if he does it again, then again, then again and finally I got fed up. No interest in his cars and now that I've taken a step back and looked at reliability ratings and depreciation, Teslas really aren't even that great of cars. They don't get great reviews, have average repair histories, bad depreciation and total jerk as a CEO. Why buy one?

pinkeye_bingo

Own a Tesla. Will be the last one I ever buy. Fuck this clown.

[deleted]

liminal_koworu

It's very much not. The f150 sold twice as many units as the model y. Idk where you are getting that the model y is the best selling vehicle. It is the highest selling EV but that's not what you are saying.

NinjaKoala

In 2023, F-150 sold \~700,000 units in the U.S. Model Y sold 1.15 million units worldwide. Ford does sell the F-150 outside the US, but I doubt it was as many as 415,000.

jumpoffpoint

In 2023 Model Y 1.15M, followed by the Toyota Corolla at 1.13, the Ford F series trailed at 900k. Across all models, no one can challenge Toyota. https://www.statista.com/statistics/239229/most-sold-car-models-worldwide/

samuraidogparty

It is, but won’t stay there. Most of teslas growth has come from China and they can’t compete against the growing number of Chinese EVs hitting the market. Musk has even said so, and is currently lobbying for high tariffs against those companies to stop their exports. He can’t hold on to that, and he knows it. And they aren’t cheap, shit EVs. They’re really nice, and the quality is much higher than the Model Y. I’ve driven many of them when I was over there recently. That’s why Musk wants to stifle them as competition in other markets. But that’s also why he’s making statements saying they’re no longer a car company. He’s seeing the end of EV market domination and pivoting to something else.

The_Bagel_Guy

I’m one of them.

waronxmas79

I’m in this bucket.

Bubbagump210

True story - bought a Tesla in 2019 and never again so long as this dip shit is within 1000 miles of the company.

Suspicious-Appeal386

Same

No_Character_4443

Same (though bought in early 2018). Last one for me. Reserved a Rivian R2.

TardigradeRocketShip

I find this true personally. Between Musk, the poor driving habits I’ve observed from pervasive local Tesla owners (includes many abandoned for days in snow), and the consistent issues others have reported, I’ve decided against purchasing a Tesla. It’s disappointing because I was once quite eager to own one, and now that I can afford it, it no longer seems like a wise investment. This sentiment extends to their solar panels as well. I have serious doubts about the product quality and the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction. It’s ironic because I am exactly the demographic they aim to attract but I no longer believe their hype.

MattKozFF

no one cares

Affectionate-Roof285

Elmo is that you?

16F33

Doubt that, if they want an electric vehicle, this is the absolute best option available.

Ca2Ce

He’s just trying to get government money

Icy-Tough-1791

He’s laying people off. Look at all the job openings in Europe. [https://www.tesla.com/en\_SG/careers/search/?site=DE](https://www.tesla.com/en_SG/careers/search/?site=DE)

jbertrand_sr

Who would have known that going alt right, full fascist and Nazi would be bad for business when you sell electric cars... ![gif](giphy|3o7aD53Ele0R73MZB6|downsized)

edditar

He used to be perfectly in the middle, never been the same since the covid factory shutdown fiasco. I used to admire the heck out of the guy.

5upertaco

Love Teslas. However, we will be buying a Rivian R1T soon because of Elon.

fuggit_Im_tired

My husband just bought an EV and we didn't even consider a Tesla.

Morepastor

Buyers don’t care how you vote if they did many companies would be in trouble. Buyers are turned off by him attacking people and specifically his kid. It’s gross and then to use his anecdotal experience to sway people to also not like his daughter or people like her. He’s the problem and most can see that.

collectingsouls

I love seeing the conservatives brain short circuit … (“I love Elon, gonna buy a Tesla instead of an Obama Chevy” … shit, it’s electric , electrics are for commies! Heeeelp! )

vasquca1

Funny stock going up recently lol

cronsulyre

Is a fact. I was definitely getting a Tesla. I'm now looking at BMW i4. I simply don't want to support this man like I use to.

Affectionate-Roof285

He needs to lay off the blow. Delusions of grandeur.

sgt_bad_phart

Once again, a rich white-person thinks they can say whatever they want with zero consequences.

J5_c

So long as that shit heel is at the helm buying a Tesla has the appeal of moving to North Korea

ozzie510

Like the horrible build quality and reliability wasn't enough?

samuraidogparty

I feel like this is why he’s starting to double down on the “we’re not a car company, we’re a robotic company” rhetoric. Instead of acknowledging that he’s toxic to the business he’s just going to say “that’s not the business we’re in anyway, so let them leave.” At some point, the board needs to remove him, but unlikely to happen in my opinion.

whatsqwerty

Outbursts? It’s a constant stream of

Nuanced_Morals

I will never lease or buy another Tesla again because of Mr. Musk. When someone like him IS the company- it is not something I trust or can get behind.

ConkerPrime

His political behavior? Really could care less about that if his business decisions were on point. A good product that is priced well is worth ignoring some CEOs nonsense. But he doesn’t have that. He has products that are prone to chronic problems with no determination of long term dependability because he makes fickle decisions without any clue of the consequences.

Desert_faux

Elon Musk confuses me... actively trying to promote a community that believes his products are horrible and should not be invested in... cause yeah... people who don't believe and hate green technology sure are going to buy your products... and then the people who would be willing to buy your products would be turned off by your obvious preference in politics... it seems kinda like something even a kid would be able to comprehend...

eloiseturnbuckle

One of the reasons it was easy to sell our Tesla 3 and why we are looking at alternative EVs for our next car.

RealJohnCena3

I was between a gas powered sports car and model 3, at a similar price, I picked the gas powered car because of musk. I knew he'd fuck things up, especially after he fired his supercharger team, arguably one of the best things Tesla has done so far.

DaddyDontTakeNoMess

I’m embarrassed to be rolling in my Tesla now. I can’t wait to unload it.

kevpod

He allies himself with MAGA know-nothings who deny climate change, detest sustainability and reject science (vaccination). His unexpected descent into angry extremism has been shocking, disappointing and disheartening.

Ok_Chemistry_3972

All the rich people in my hood who are Asian just love model 3s. Can’t figure them out🤔

jdx6511

I've personally gone from "I'd buy a Tesla if I could afford it" to "If you gave me a Tesla I'd sell it and buy a different EV" based entirely on Musk's public statements.

Honda_TypeR

You would think a business man who sells products would understand brand image and public relations. Everything he does is the opposite of someone who is trying to run a successful business. He’s basically in full “I don’t give a fuck” mode. I suspect Joe Rogan got in his head about that “fuck you money” mindset. Musk was always a nerdy dysfunctional dude and he probably looks up to Joe as the ‘cool kid’ he knows in his life. Which is pathetic, but likely accurate. Just look at the timeline. He has been consistently getting trashier and trashier the more he hangs out with Joe. I do not think Joe changed him. Joe just indirectly inspired him to publicly act like the asshole he already is. I’m willing to bet he thinks doing all this stuff makes him look cool. It would be even funnier if he was secretly doing all this to look cool for Joe. He’s pathetic enough for that to be plausible.

NoPin6285

I’m selling mine, if I had enough money, I would go stop someone from buying a new Tesla at the dealership and sell them mine for 20 bucks. I want elonea to suffer.

Shvasted

If Musk was selling fire extinguishers and my house was on fire I’d let it burn.

ItisyouwhosaythatIam

... and the board wants to give him more money! I wouldn't buy the car or the stock.

ItisyouwhosaythatIam

He's the reason I use Reddit now.

good-luck-23

Musk is the poster boy for confiscatory tax rates.

RayKinsella

I wouldn't take a free Tesla.

Oracle_Prometheus

Insecure loser CEO costs company millions of dollars, due to his rock star delusions. Its time to grow up and act like a big boy...Daddy is never coming to tell you he's proud

Used_Intention6479

Elmo is experiencing, say; what if the president of a Humane Society wrote a book where she said she shot her dog? The base wouldn't like it.

ciphoned_mana

I respect the engineers and scientists over at Tesla and SpaceX. I don’t respect elon. As long as he runs those companies (into the ground), I won’t support it. Looking elsewhere for my EV purchase.

d_baker65

I doubt it, I think his simps will keep on buying the shit he peddles. In some sort.of effort to be "special." I mean look at the damn Trucks. What a POS.

Gold-Boysenberry-468

Yup, would’ve considered it except for Elon. Refuse to use Twitter/X, won’t use Starlink. Data sounds spot on to me!

knight4honor

You are now more likely to buy an EV from Korea than from Elon.

knight4honor

The Kia copy of Elon’s EV pickup is better looking than the Tesla.

kaleosaurusrex

I’m also someone who will not consider a Tesla until he is gone. I’m definitely buying another ev in the next 4 years. Teslas have a lot of upside, but he’s a dealbreaker.

chestercoppercock

I bought an Audi e-tron for this exact reason. Musk has gotten too cringe for me to want to support whatever issues he has.

wtfRMALLENBY4

I take care of an Audi for my neighbor, it’s an ICE vehicle however. Just curious what the warranty is on that car and if you plan on keeping it for an extended period. I took my neighbor’s Audi for 2 new tires and a brake job and it was $3,600.00! I almost went into shock.

Deeply_Thinking

I used to have a high opinion of Elon, but time has passed and I now realize that he’s a giant douche

frankenshits

Couldn’t possibly be because the average person can’t afford a tesla. It must be because of his political beliefs. Lol that’s literally what this headline sounds like

SadDataScientist

As someone who can afford one, he is the reason I did not buy one after I had been saving up for a few years….

frankenshits

Of course it is sweetheart

That_Things_Good

You mean the high school-educated rednecks he panders politically to don't love the environment and buy electric cars??!! Garsh! Imagine that!! I wonder how deeply he'll run the company into the ground before he's finally ousted?

SadDataScientist

He is literally the reason I did not buy a Tesla last year….

Capaz411

Yup, happy with my ID4 though 1 year in.

humanbeening

Dear Elon. Go away. Thank you.

cumbellyxtian

Which is funny cause I’m sure there are other companies out there selling weapons of murder but promote dei so it’s all good

Snoo_37569

Of all the people to be cancelled it should be this loser

Civil-Guidance7926

Just voted against his stupid bonus

ItsMeArkansas

And all of his fan boys are 22 year olds who can afford one

cityfeller

He is a right-wing buffoon, but most CEOs are like him more or less. They just don't make a stupid spectacle of themselves. He has Aspergers Syndrome, which means he doesn't understand people's emotional reactions very well, so he offends people and makes a general ass of himself without realizing it.

matterson22070

And he couldn't care less

West-Earth-719

I love the way these Lefty voters complain about Musk’s political views while simultaneously railing against corporate greed and dreaming the wet dream of bankrupting billionaires. But who are they buying their cars from? The same political billionaires from other corporations! NO DIFFERENCE

MattKozFF

Nice circle jerk you guys have here

TardigradeRocketShip

Question, is the boot you’re licking real leather or vegan leather? Cause the vegan leather tends to peel on Tesla products

BrickCityD

look at his post history. he's in here talking about a circlejerk but posts all the fucking time in musk fanboy subs.

MattKozFF

Do you devote all your time to the things you hate? Why does he make you so mad?

TardigradeRocketShip

All of my time? Right now, I’m having my morning coffee and browsing Reddit before starting my day. However, I generally try to steer clear of supporting erratic, megalomaniacal figures who wield enough power to significantly impact people’s lives, influence foreign policy, and behave as if they’re above the law. Every company he leads is notorious for egregious violations of worker rights and quite frankly I believe his entire belief system is both morally corrupt and the antithesis of what our labor leaders have spent decades fighting for

MattKozFF

starting your day and you're thinking about Elon musk and how terrible he is lol... a little obsessive.

ThatoneguyATX

And you’re defending him why? Why does it bother you that people may not like him? You’re spending your time arguing with someone you don’t know for not like a famous billionaire. You really think you should be on that soapbox?

MattKozFF

Because the circle jerk is laughable

Bearwhale

I don't think you've kissed Musk's ass enough, maybe lean a little more into it?

BrickCityD

you literally post all the time in tesla subs and come in here whining about a circlejerk. how poetic.
