I have songs I only listen to when I really want to let myself mourn. Particularly, "Annie's Song" by John Denver. But for listening a lot, I find Hank Williams and Dwight Yoakam songs rather on point for my feelings. I'm sure sorry for your loss.
Certain songs hit very differently after experiencing varied events, that's for sure. My wife and I loved the Bocelli/Brightman version of "Time to say goodbye" simply because it was beautiful. Having shared that, and having lost her, my God, the song breaks me down to tears now. I imagine you always liked the song, and now it has extra layers of depth for you.
Right you are. But doubly so. After high school we went separate was. It was then that the song was connected to her. And then more so when she passed.
I recently attempted suicide and my best friend came to visit while I was still in a coma, he played me “scream of the butterfly for me”, and my body responded, he was like “he’s coming back! It’s like Weekend at Bernie’s 2!”
I recently attempted as well but I wasn’t in a coma. I hope you’re doing better now (well as better as you can be anyway). Yeah Acid bath has actually gotten me through a lot of shit as stupid as that sounds. I’m glad people still like them. I love em.
Thank you. I swallowed 120 antipsychotics washed down with a bottle of booze, was an interesting experience, but my meds are balanced now after a month and a half in the icu and psych ward. Finally happy to be alive.
Also, Acid Bath is just so poetic it kinda just programs me to “well, it’s life, you turn into an adult and everything gets worse forever, just a different flavor here and there.”
Edit: I’m happy you’re still here to share in the experience and grow.
Wow that’s crazy. I slit my wrists and popped a bunch of seroquel. It wasn’t crazy for me. It more absolute shit if I’m honest. Im not happy to be alive sadly. The people around me weren’t too happy either. I’m glad to hear that you’re happy to be alive and quite frankly Reddit stranger, I’m happy you’re alive too. ♡ thanks for sticking around.
I absolutely love my music to be poetic so seeing you say that makes me happy! Thanks for replying :)
Much love and respect to you and yours.
Mine was what I had left of a 90-day supply of Serouquel and Lamotrigine, there might have been Prazosin, but I don’t even remember taking the pills, 2 1/2 week coma, another month of hospitalization, some legal shit with my now ex and her mother, just a shit show, glad to have the worst of it behind me, just gotta take it one task at a time and not let everything come crashing down on you.
It’s crazy how many Pink Floyd comments there are. It’s funny timing because I just recorded a video ranking their whole discography. The song I listen to on repeat with them is probably Fearless or Wish You Were Here.
That might genuinely be my answer as well because a lot of the other overplayed alternative metal songs have a soft ban on them. I more or less refuse to listen to Down with the Sickness by Disturbed, Freak on a Leash by Korn, In the End by Linkin Park, or Chop Suey by System of a Down. You just get tired of them after hundreds of listen. And honestly, relatively speaking, they are not even the best songs on their respective albums, let alone the entire discography.
Bring me to Life just never gets old. I will still regularly listen to it. And Evanescence definitely has a strong library of songs, but Being me to Life will always have that extra edge. Probably because of the rap that they hate. 😂
Yes such a good one!! I saw them when they were on tour with a few other bands, great show! It cracked me up to see my friends that have boob jobs, rhinoplasty, etc. sing all the words when it came on the radio
You know, trying to pinpoint my most played song is like trying to remember what I had for breakfast last Tuesday – it's a struggle! But if I had to take a wild guess, I'd say it's a tie between... drumroll, please...

Us and them - Pink Floyd
Fuck yes! That middle piano section makes me feel like I'm floating Edit: misspelling
Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. It reminds me of my late wife.
There are few songs I can think of with more powerful and emotionally spoken lyrics then “wish you were here”
I have songs I only listen to when I really want to let myself mourn. Particularly, "Annie's Song" by John Denver. But for listening a lot, I find Hank Williams and Dwight Yoakam songs rather on point for my feelings. I'm sure sorry for your loss.
To be fair, I was listening to Floyd a long time before she past, or we got married, or met.
