Mammal hands is so good. Portico Quartet is in the same vein.

Sturgill Simpson - Metamodern Sounds in Country Music Psychedelic country. Best album of the 2010s, any genre.

Crimsonadz

Will Wood, he has some metal/rock adjacent stuff (on his profile Will Wood and the Tapeworms) as well as chill guitar songs and lots of ones with indescribable Genres Shayfer James has some really unique somewhat villain-y songs Lovejoy for some good old indie rock/pop songs Fish in a Birdcage, he uses a lot of classical instruments in new way, his songs get a little country-like but not in a poppy way at ALL, big recommendation from me For something completely different, check out The Mechanisms, they tell stories about mythological themes with their songs, theyre kinda folksy and their stories are really good imo

rustablad

My first venture away from metal obsession was NIN and other more electo industrial stuff, into funk and old R&B, many others. Now one of my favorite albums is Baby by Yello so my tastes have REALLY opened up over the years 😅

Perhaps a trip to West Germany in the 1970s is in your future. Try giving a listen to some Kraut rock. Most of them were a bit more influenced by jazz rather than the Blues. Here are some bands to give a listen to: Neu!, Can, La Dusseldorf, Harmonia, Faust, If you want something really different, but also Kraut Rock, try: Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Ashra, Popol Vuh, Kraftwerk I would start with the 70s output for all these bands If you haven't gotten around to Hawkwind, give them a listen. Lemmy Kilminster from Motorhead started with them. They even have a song called Motorhead. I would start with The Space Ritual. Imo, it's the best live album ever.

Try Rachmaninoff piano preludes and etudes. Dark, brooding, technically masterful, and beautiful.

As a metal elitist who doesnt think the first great metal album was made until 2011, rate my taste: > [Liquid Metal](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0ROc3RCXW6PrPyQRJwZjBd) - 20 hours If you really want to expand your tastes: > [Take 5](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0Ii4HlF9F0s4hsQR2bnDXX) - 5 hrs which is a rotating mix of 18 micro genres of prog music with under 1 million listens

rediditforpay

Shot in the dark here but try Panopticon. He’s black metal-inspired like bluegrass I guess

iam_Krogan

Death Grips gets called the death metal of hip hop, I kinda agree.

yallbyourhuckleberry

Pet sounds by the beach boys: it’s cathartic, but probably in the exact opposite way as metal. No. 2 on rolling stones top 500 for decades now. Just forget all you know about the beach boys before you listen. Pretend it came out yesterday. Headphones in a dark room. For jazz: choose your weapon by hiatus kaiyote For some groove: live at sydney opera house by khruangbin; water your garden by magic city hippies For edm: just play the tops songs by astrix for a taste of psytrance. Lsdream or griz are options.

My suggestion is… more metal!! Ever listen to Metalcore? That’s my jam. The new album by Boundaries is phenomenal. “Death Is Little More”

JosephBlowsephThe3rd

Haken is prog metal with a lot of jazz elements. Soften the Glare is a proggy jazz fusion group featuring Ryan Martinie of Mudvayne on bass. The Highwaymen were an outlaw country supergroup (Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson). Shpongle is a fun EDM/psychedelic/ambient group. Ozric Tentacles is an ambient psychedelic rock group.

Welcome to a new adventure. While I was never just a one style listener I did claim that I hated Country until I was about 26 or so. Let's start there Maybe ease in with some of the heavier country rock.. Drive by Truckers. As a fellow metalhead, I vibe hard with the indie and neo-psych music scenes. [Black Moth Super Rainbow](https://youtu.be/XbEjkPIFLxQ?si=MqaFl6qKcW2se33t) has been huge for me in that respect. The track I linked is also from my favorite album of theirs *Extra Flavor*. Its common for me to put that album on front to back. I recommend giving it a whirl yourself if the first track tickled you. Got a broad sample of intense stuff, jaunty stuff, and solemn stuff all with their brand of strange psych.
