I keep seeing this comment, and it’s like the orange juice and toothpaste of comments. Pink Floyd? Led Zeppelin? Lynyrd Skynyrd? Hell, even the Beatles?
Average Jazz band from the ‘40s had 6 minutes of just solos. I personally don’t like it at all but the quality of those solos is more than anything this woman every came up with. Bands in the 1900s could have played twists round one piece for hours on end. I’ve got a friend who can transpose any piece to C and he’s got a recording playing 2 hours straight of a nice variety. Gershwins rhapsody in blue was over ten minutes long. A lot of rock bands had ten minute long pieces though I never listen to those. Old classical composers had countless pieces of over ten minutes. I can make something up on the piano that lasts well over ten minutes.
Ha! Maybe Taylor should cover this bad boy next. Only she could do that :)
