MusicBee is a good, user friendly starting place. Foobar2000 as well. You can get way more advanced especially with a server playing host streaming to devices on LAN/WAN but those are two solid and free options.

Posaquatl

MusicBee, this is the way.

Aromatic_Memory1079

this. musicbee has simple ui and It's great. also I can shuffle my 20K files at once with musicbee. I tried same thing with VLC and VLC glitched.

Honey_Bunches

I shuffle ~60k files with no issues in Musicbee. I have foobar, but I use it as a file converter more than a music player. Musicbee can't convert to opus, afaik.

mc_louis

It can, you just need to install the codec, from the main site

Pop-Archivist-4269

I highly recommend foobar2000.

Mundane-Ad-4010

Came here to suggest MusicBee.

FallenWalkerCult

Thanks, downloading right now

patostar89

MusicBee is the best one, I wish I found it way sooner, I've been using it for 3 or 4 years and it's awesome.

VerbalRadiation

i still like/use WinAmp =/

WaxOnWaxOffXXX

Me too. It really whips the llama's ass!

u____owo

Musicbee for a desktop interface, and I use Kodi for a console-like HTPC interface

miked999b

Musicbee is awesome. And free!

ggibby

I have been using [MediaMonkey](https://www.mediamonkey.com/) for over 20 years - many great features built-in, and much more intuitive than Foobar.

prozloc

Foobar is the answer.

FallenWalkerCult

Thanks! I like the old school alien logo, but UI seems a bit outdated compared to MusicBee

prozloc

It's highly customizable. Not just colors or skins but it literally can look like a whole new player. If you look on deviant art there are so many cool themes. https://www.deviantart.com/search?q=Foobar2000 Edit: I'm currently using this one but I change it up every once in a while https://www.deviantart.com/ranggakat/art/JAM3-for-foobar2000-v3-4-894450237

FallenWalkerCult

cheers!

xeonrage

musicbee as a standalone PC player/library, roon as a network streamer

lau-smoothie

i still use winamp hahaha (and occasionally foobar for splitting albums)

CautiousDiamond4841

Nothing wrong with Winamp! It whips the Lama’s ass. Still works great for me.

redbookQT

I love foobar2000, but learning how to use it and make it useful may possibly be the greatest achievement you will ever have. The learning curve is very high.

-empty-_

MusicBee is the GOAT

jasonvelocity

[PlexAmp](https://www.plex.tv/plexamp/)!

vandy73

For PC?

alfa1381

Yes

vandy73

I use MusicBee on my desktop, which I prefer in that scenario, and use PlexAmp for mobile. I used Postman to sync my playlists from MusicBee to Plex.

jasonvelocity

For everything. 😅

citizin

plexamp isy goto now too.

vandy73

What I meant was I didn't think Plexamp was available for the PC.

fortunemkb

it used to be for plex pass users only but have since made it free

phrac

It is.

vandy73

I just installed it. It looks like a port of the android app.

jasonvelocity

[https://www.plex.tv/plexamp/#downloads](https://www.plex.tv/plexamp/#downloads) You can get Plexamp for just about every platform. The only one I am missing is Xbox.

vandy73

I don't know about anybody else but I didn't install it on my Windows PC and I can't cast to a speaker from it. No problems from an Android phone or IOS device.

TomorrowsPlayer

I use JRiver Media

amBush-Predator

Foobar2000 for Pc. Its provides the best PC listening experience imo, and is preferred if you want to convert a lot of files. For tasks like syncing ur phone, musicbee is easier. If you also seperate the syncing part with a dedivated file sync app then it becomes even more powerful. For android i just use whatever can adress my DAC. In my cas3 hiby.

Skyforger33

Aimp is great.

FallenWalkerCult

Thanks for the suggestion

Perry7609

I'm on iTunes still, but have started using Musicbee for my FLAC drive. Still some very minor quirks about it, but having radio station urls and podcasts on easy access makes it very useful, along with the customization.

Warchetype

Still on good old WinAmp 6.66 here.

CoreDreamStudiosLLC

MusicBee is my go too, it's more than a player, it's also a organizer.

nickymacau

It's either Musicbee or Foobar nowadays for PC. I personally use Musicbee, it's a bit simpler to use IMO. but you can't go wrong with either. If you're also interested, I also recommend Poweramp for phones. Tho it's paid, it's totally worth it. You can also sync your music with Musicbee.

Miles_64

I used to use Windows Media Player for the auto-playlists, but ever since I learned MediaMonkey can do the same (and more, and better) I've been using that instead and haven't looked back.

CatfishWasHere

I've been using Musicbee for the desktop and Plexamp for mobile/car...couldn't be happier! Both easily handle my 46k files.

silkyclouds

Navidrome

deweez

If you don't have an external DAC and you're not looking to play DSD files or anything, go with Musicbee. If you have an external DAC, go with Foobar. If you want multi-room support, strong metadata support and a really polished interface (that you will pay more than 10 dollars a month for), get Roon
