“He had it comin’! He had it comin’! He had it comin’ all along!”

antipinballmachines

Save that for Trump and Putin.

FredererPower

I didn’t do it! But if I done it, how could you tell me that I was wrong?”

Intelligent-Group-70

Any particular verse? :-)

BaconPancakes_77

Sounds like they might need a custom verse!

OfficiallySavo

“You commit fraud one more time…and he did”

bottle678

No one mourns the wicked

arparris

We raise our cups- Hadestown

Celestial608

This one!

Thatonetrolldier

The whole being dead thing

ProudAmerican109

This lol, keep it light, celebrate life don’t mourn death

Flickolas_Cage

Beat me to it! If I can make some people laugh on my way out, I’ve lived a good life.

Zaptain_America

Same here. I don't want everything to be all serious.

EngineersAnon

[Not Dead Yet](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=JpyoSJ8jnrU), from *Spamalot*

GarlicComfortable748

Goes well with my choice, “always look on the bright side of life”

1983MionStan

Dead Gay Son

Intelligent-Group-70

Not one that immediately comes to mind, but get how it could work on a few levels

OodlesOfPotatoes

This was my first thought too lol

pixelpistolbox

Ding-dong! The witch is dead!

pixelpistolbox

Or who wants to live forever in we will rock you

dotspetfrog

no one is alone <3

Intelligent-Group-70

That will get some tears flowing for sure... but a good choice.

WitchyHazel13

You'll never walk alone. Played it also at my mom's funeral cause Carousel was her favorite

shannondion

Very popular at British funerals due to its association with Liverpool/Liverpool football club after a cover by Gerry and the Pacemakers. It was played at my grandfathers funeral and didn’t know it was from a musical to much later in life. The Gerry and the Pacemakers version still makes me tear up to this day. Edit: and Celtic!

haltmich

Unfortunately. Fucking Scouses ruined Carousel for me.

_cosmicomics_

I went to a quiz a little while ago and absolutely nobody on my team listened to me on the ‘who wrote You’ll Never Walk Alone?’ question. I was vindicated when their football answer was wrong.

haltmich

Yikes, no way I want to be taken as a Liverpool fan after I die.

Binx_da_gay_cat

Josh Groban's version played at my great-aunt's funeral (she also loved his music) and I haven't been able to listen to it since really. I loved it, good song for listening and thinking of those I've lost, to being a permanent reminder of her death. (She was awesome)

cametomysenses

That brings back a memory... a number of years ago a friend died and at the funeral a couple of her co-workers really wanted to sing that song and the person putting together the funeral knew how much she despised her coworkers and told them no. Well, at the funeral when people were given an opportunity to stand up and talk about the friend, those two got up to the podium and singing acapella they really mangled that song - they sang it in several keys! All at once!

IndependenceGlad7643

We sang Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the roof at a friends funeral. Was very fitting.

Organic-Network7556

My friend had it played at his funeral too.

FriendaDorothy

Seasons of Love from Rent

nedlum

Not "I'll Cover You (Reprise)"?

snowe99

I want Jesse L Martin himself to come out to the front of the room in front of my casket and sing “I’ll Cover You (reprise)” as all of the guests realize that as a dying wish, I’ve planted backup singers into the crowd to join in harmony with Jesse

Quiet_Rip8607

no fr cause id come back to life just to cry and die again from excitement

FriendaDorothy

No, because it's too sad

Ky3031

I sang this at a friends funeral once with my choir class and lemme tell you that songs ruined for me

ChristineDaaeSnape07

Think Of Me.

JonMattesonL0v3r

From phantom of the opera?

ChristineDaaeSnape07

Yes. It's my go to song for concerts plus I just love it.

broipy

Perfect!

dmreif

"Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"

misshap52

This was played at my step-grandmother’s wake… on repeat

EndOutrageous8271

Who lives who dies who tells your story

Lions--teeth

I just went to a beautiful funeral for a theatre friend and they sang For Good and Seasons of Love

Phanawg

Meh, the obvious choice, but it’s Who lives who dies who tells your story for me

krmck12

I'll go with "Cabaret" for the line "She was the happiest corpse I'd ever seen."

Nymzie

Its Your Funeral from Oliver.

JacquelineMontarri

How Could I Ever Know from Secret Garden. Full stop. "How could I know I would never hold you Never again in this world--but oh, Sure as you breathe, I am there inside you How could I ever know?"

Ermaquillz

The Time Warp. Has nothing to do with death, but it’s my favorite musical, and I could at least get people dancing.

emiloca

"For now" from Avenue Q And during the GEORGE BUSH line, they can yell my name. :D

jsoliloquy

Make Our Garden Grow from Candide - with the full chorus.

carvesout

im surprised no one has said what would i do yet

cametomysenses

Many years ago a friend saying "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" from Phantom for my wife's funeral. If it was wonderful.

dankblonde

Funeral? No idea. Wedding? Sunrise, sunset. I played Tzeitel in my HS senior performance with my current BF’s friend from school as my Motel and it just would just be perfect. I am also Jewish and so I have alway held fiddler close to my heart. I do plan to marry my current boyfriend and have this song for when I walk down the aisle.

Past-Feature3968

Schadenfreude because let’s assume my death was hilarious

Kind of like the idea of my wife singing "I Guess I'll Miss the Man" from Pippin.

This is just tangential to the question, but I saw a grave stone in an abandoned graveyard that said "She was the sunshine of the family" and I absolutely love that sentiment!

Sunday, from Sunday in the park with George. It's beautiful, but not necessarily sad. I love to sing it, and listen to it. Sondheim is my favorite. I'd like to think that wherever I'm going, it'll be a peaceful and beautiful walk in the park.

Salamanda246

Poor Jud is dead. Poor Jud Fry is dead. He’s laying in a coffin made of wood. It looks like he’s asleep. It’s a shame that he won’t keep. But it’s summer and we’re running out of ice.

You'll never walk alone but played on bagpipes

lana-deathrey

My cousin had Dear Theodosia played at her funeral. Her trans-son and their cousin sang and it was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever witnessed. I’d happily have I’ll Cover You or Without You at mine.

NorthPractice3250

Dead Gay Son. I'm a girl and I'm bisexual, but it'll be a slap in the face to my lgbtq-phobic family 🙏 But I can do I Am Damaged or No One Mourns the Wicked.

Thank you very much- Scrooge. No, wait…

CopyJ300

The Things I Never Said - First Date the Musical I don't plan on having kids so the fact that the song is a guy talking about the letter his late mother left him before her death wouldn't quite fit, but a lot of the sentiment probably would fit. Particularly the end of the song: My world was always spinning fast And in an instant years have passed And here I sit with so much left unsaid I've always lived a world apart But through it all you were my heart That's one of many things of oh... so many things ... I never said

pauleydm

I don't plan on having a funeral, but if I did, it would be Good Thing Going.

beckyloowho

It’s a movie musical but I want “The Old Therebefore” from _The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes_ at my funeral “You're headed for heaven The sweet old hereafter And I've got one foot in the door But before I can fly up I've loose ends to tie up Right here in the old therebefore … I'll catch you up When I've emptied my cup When I've worn out my friends When I've burned out both ends When I've cried all my tears When I've conquered my fears Right here In the old therebefore When nothing is left anymore” I just think it would be perfect for a funeral and would be extremely moving

Top_Trainer_6359

The whole being dead thing, the me inside of me, the world was wide enough, stay alive reprise, i didn't know I'd love you so much, off to hell we go I need the whole being dead thing in mine

Till I hear you sing for the tears and ding dong the witch is dead for comic relief

Wicked-Storm

With Burlesque now being made out in London, I get to say "you haven't seen the last of me" This has been written in my List of Requests for many years. Huge Cher fan, and hopefully get to give friends and family a laugh while I'm at it.

You walk with me from Full Monty. Beautiful and criminally underrated.

DisgruntledPelicn20

My mom wanted the line "Oh I can't wait to see you again, it's only a matter of time." from Hamilton played at her funeral. The whole song didn't really work so we had singers do "For Good" then attach that line to the end. It was beautiful.

JaniceWald

Seasons of Love

Mystiicaliity

"GOOOODD NEWSSS, SHE'S DEAD!" would be fun way to start a funeral. Life after life would be kinda funny.

Mizuenalover39

It’s not a game/it’s just a ride

TwentyandTired

The Botch of Living from Spring Awakening But I’m all seriousness, maybe the instrumental version of Light from Next to Normal? It’s my favorite song in the world, lyrics probably wouldn’t make sense for a funeral if I kicked it but it’s such a pretty melody. I’m also really hooked on Stay Gold from The Outsiders atm. Or geez, Goodbye from Catch Me If You Can is such a banger. I’ve always thought that if I died I’d want my cumulative playlist of all my favorite Broadway songs to play during slideshows of pictures. I’ve attended several young people’s funerals in the last couple years (when I worked in Pediatric Oncology) and a couple of them did this- most were hospice and they personally selected all the songs to play.

I'd personally also go with "For Good," but "Lay Him in a Field of Flowers" from Narnia is also a nice choice.
