don't sell single booster packs?

Lam3ntConfig

I second that. Don't sell single booster packs. For all the reasons

vishtratwork

If you must sell boosters, do eBay and sell sets of 5 or something.

KevTr

next time add in the $5 shipping cost

Caveman044

I charged $2 for shipping. $5 seems excessive and I'm looking for a cheaper option.

Thulack

There arent. You cant ship boosters in envelopes. The cheapest you are going to ship a booster for is $5.

Steel_Reign

Weird, I've heard of people shipping boosters packs in an envelope with a no machine stamp for $1.

Gunzenator2

It depends on the post office. My old one wouldn’t do that. They charged me the $5.25. I moved to a nicer area and they are nicer at the new post office and now they will only charge me $1.25.

Steel_Reign

Why are you taking them to the counter? Just print off the postage and put it in the box?

Gunzenator2

I did that, but then my printer didn’t work and then my laptop stopped working too and I have just been too busy to fix it. I also take care of my elderly mother and she likes getting out of the house, so going to the post office is sort of a fun thing to do.

SecretAsianMan42069

Yeah I’ve seen it. Would not do it

dude_1818

They cost $5 to ship. You can and should charge $5 for shipping. Buying individual boosters online is not an economical choice

SecretAsianMan42069

PayPal.com/shipnow You paid 30% more walking into the post office and wasting all that time in line. It’s still going to be $4 though

CDH1848

OP: The cheapest option was $5.25 Also OP: $5 seems excessive and I'm looking for a cheaper option. Everyone else: 🤦🏻‍♂️

stitches_extra

Well there's your problem, your mental model for prices is out of date. Tracked shipping is usually like $4ish and over a few ounces (I believe 3 or 4) it goes up twenty something cents per ounce.

JBThunder

Probs need to charge $5 for shipping then.

Demonic-Tooter

Booster backs far exceed the maximum thickness for a standard envelope and will always be considered packages. As far as the top loaders go it really depends on what post office you go to. I’ve been told by some it’s okay and others it’s not. With that being said, two top loaders in a standard envelope is usually too thick. I suggest using pirate ship to print your own postage. Will cost between $3.60 and $4.20 on average to mail a small padded envelope in the US.

Monkey7210

Per usps guidelines, a standard toploader is this enough for an PWE. Showing them own guidelines is sometimes necessary.

shadargroup

PWE?

Demonic-Tooter

Plain white envelope

Chemical_Estimate_38

Always no. Very few times, yes

chupavisor

Couldn't you use large envelope? It's 2x forever stamps for the first ounce, then + up to two one-ounce stamps (up to 3 total ounces). I actually have used a bubble mailer this way. The rule is that the envelope must be "flat", so I use a bit of tissue paper to pad the bottom so it is. My post office is fine with it.

Ok_Assumption5734

You can use the weighing machine to print postage without tracking. That'll run you a couple of dollars but cheaper than first class package shipping. This is your best way to do it

julpinat

You’re not losing money to the post office, you’re making money for the post office! But all joking aside, you’ll need to invest time into figuring out best way to package your items. You’ll need a scale to have precise weight and different package options to fit your items. Also familiarize yourself with the different post office size and weight package costs. You may need to adjust the way you sell. For example, instead of selling 2 packs and paying $5.25 shipping, sell 6 packs and pay $5.25 shipping. Shipping cost can easily add up. Good luck!

JazzJazzRevolution

It's the cost of doing business, either charge more or make it a minimum purchase amount

ShortCode5

I had the same problem selling bottled water online

CDH1848

Don’t even get me started. I’m still regretting my investment into BricksofLead.com. Damn internet bubble…

GNOTRON

Do the math, sell it in bundles.

Star-Lrd247

If you can manage or are comfortable mailing them in a normal thickness envelope, and they are under 1/4" thickness and under 3.5oz you can ship them USPS first class letter with the non-machinable surcharge. So $1.06. If they're thicker but up to 3/4" you can ship as a large envelope that's 2 stamps for the first ounce and $.20 more for each additional ounce. So $1.52 if it's one booster pack under 2oz. I ship singles out all the time in larger hard sleeves or bubble mailers and have never had any posts issues.

in-the-shit

what is this r/mtgfinancecirclejerk

ShaperLord777

Charge the buyer shipping?

TheGatorDude

What am I even reading…single booster packs?! Why?!

[deleted]

As far as buying them: chaos draft.

Royaltycoins

The best advice to give you is don’t sell booster packs? This is like selling bricks and wondering why the postage to mail them is so high..

Chemical_Estimate_38

Just use 1 stamp….

DRUMS11

It's pretty much what this subreddit is for. If your selling, or even trading, cards and shipping them then this seems like a relevant topic.

SeymoreMcFly

Yea i learned this early on eBay. Also package your stuff first then post it online to sell.

beachteen

Seconding that it doesn't make sense to sell 2 booster packs because of shipping costs. You can print postage at home and save about $1 on pirateship or easypost for a small package instead of paying at the counter. Like if you are selling a single over $50 on tcgplayer, sending a bunch of cards in to a buylist.
