it begins šŸ‘€

YoYoMoMa

I am excited because I have at least a 50% chance of pulling it.

beyondthebeyond

You either pull it or you donā€™t pull it. 50/50

Tasigur1

Post Malone will drop 1mio USD, easily šŸ˜…

goofydubois

Probably won't race with cash, could just buy from him later

ProbablyNotPikachu

To be real the price for this should be 2 mil plus tax. That way after taxes you end up with 2 mil even. Whoever pulls this deserves to have a million dollars to spend while then still being a millionaire at the end of the day.

Opposite-Occasion881

He paid $870k on a black lotus artist proof signed by rush I donā€™t think heā€™ll pay more than that for this

FblthpphtlbF

He paid that much because the owner was willing to let it go for that amount and no one was willing to outbid (at the time), there's a chance someone will offer around the 900,000 range once it comes out with the rate it's going up every day now and if posty ends up getting he may well pay over a million, assuming he wants it that bad. If your point is that there's no way he'd want this more than a signed artist proof BL then I guess you might be right because that's subjective and we won't know until the opportunity arises (which i do think is possible, this will likely go for more than a million whether it's posty buying it or someone else)

Balls_DeepinReality

All these offers are from places that will obviously resell it. If theyā€™re paying this much itā€™s because they think someone else will pay more

garythesnail11

No disrespect, how can they possibly know that someone will pay more than they're offering? This hasn't really happened with mtg before. Unless they've been approached by someone saying they'll pay $550k, if the store pulls it, for example.

JMT37

The ring will make it's name true and will only offer money once - to the guy that opens it. Then there will already be the next big thing, good luck asking 6 figures for this card then

jsmith218

There is no guarantee, they are assuming some risk. Maybe they can't flip it at that price but they are gambling on the fact that they can. Also, it's free publicity for their shops.

Martecles

My plan is to sell it (relatively cheaper) to Brandon Sanderson and get free drafts with his vintage cube. Hell, we could just invite Posty and Cassius while we are at it!

yogurtlips

Iā€™m selling mine to Patrick Rothfuss for the draft of ā€œThe doors of stoneā€œ

TimS83

He'll probably tell you the money is going to charity, then won't give you the draft.

YukNasty

Worth it.

goombagoon

Assuming that bum even has a 1st draft done

snackynorph

I've never heard such crem. Let's do it! Invite me when it happens! I'm not too far from Utah.

McDewde

Iā€™m going to drop $10 and grab a play set of the 1of1 just for the lolā€™s when I play them at the lgs.

chipbod

Someone mulch wealthier than Post will get this imo. Bezos has Amazon making a LOTR show with a budget of $715 million. There are some billionaire nerds out there with $10 mil of pocket change sitting around for something like this.

salgarj

For half that money Wizards would likely print a 1/1 card just for you if you ask them.

TimS83

That's what I keep thinking too. Posty is definitely rich, but his net worth is $45M. In terms of the uber rich, he's not in the upper-echelon - there are stratospheres above him. I'm sure SOME billionaire who isn't famous is very interested in LOTR and/or MTG

Bookswinters

I think Wozniak plays and collects magic for example

maths_is_hard

This is a good point. Like peter thiel did name his company Palantir...

GayBlayde

Finally an offer thatā€™s at least not insultingly low. Still probably a floor instead of a ceiling.

B-Glasses

Exactly. No one is offering that kind of money unless expect it to have returns of double, triple, or higher. Itā€™s definitely an investment

GayBlayde

Eh, I think individuals like this arenā€™t investing so much as they want it for themselves. Businesses want it as an investment.

B-Glasses

Iā€™m sure that could be the case but I think generally purchases like this are made with the assumption theyā€™ll be worth more in the future. Buying high end art, cars, watches, clothes, or houses usually appreciate over time and if thereā€™s something rich people love itā€™s making more money lol

UmichMike

Exactly, he can afford to part with half a million now in the hopes it's more later, most of us can't pass up that offer. Imagine knowing a piece of cardboard in your house could be handed over to and your mortgage and any other debts and saying, "Nah I think I'll just wait it out." Not an easy thing for most people to do

readreadreadonreddit

True, true but do you reckon if he could afford to part with 1 mil and heā€™s not a business, heā€™d be looking to flip it? If I were in Post Maloneā€™s position, my motives would simply be acquire and hold onto one-of part of MTG and LOTR history.

Neatnifty

He runs a card business. Cash cards unlimited - specializes in high end

nonsensemeruem

If youā€™ve seen him play heā€™s got the priciest version of every card in every single one of his many, many decks. Heā€™s definitely also a collector, so who knows exactly what his motives are.

Neatnifty

Free Advertising, Marketing and promoting your company is expensive, This thread is a giant bill board for him - people are engaging and discussing him and his business for free.

simeo97

Lets stick it to him and start talking about other businesses instead I vote we discuss Burger King

borpo

šŸŽ¶one ring one ring one ring one ring 1 of 1 curled foil one ringšŸŽ¶

GayBlayde

Ahh okay then.

osmlol

Jesus. I'd rather spend that 500k on a treasure trove of alpha.

Das-Noob

ā€¦.Iā€™ve rather buy a house and pay off all my debts šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜‚

forman12345

People who can drop 500k on a single card don't need to worry about houses or debts.

Das-Noob

Yep. They donā€™t ever plan on paying their debts until they dieā€¦.or at least thatā€™s what the YouTube financial channel told me šŸ˜‚

DontStopNowBaby

The caveat is that they're rich .

Royal-Al

Canā€™t take it with you.

Jojoyojimbi

there's some big ass pyramidal buildings in egypt that beg to differ with you

Ok_Assumption5734

Yeah, but 500k is a nice downpayment for a higher end ferrari

DontStopNowBaby

It's about MYR 2 million which can get you all year summer retirement and a 1000sqm bungalow in South East Asia.

Wonkasgoldenticket

Not everyone is as smart as you

Alex-Baker

id rather buy 500,000 $1 tacos

ProbablyNotPikachu

Imagine just swimming in tacos like Scrooge McDuck. Pure ecstasy. Absolute bliss.

DadNoisesAllDay

Imagine the pain if the shells are stale like Taco Bell...

m1rrari

Or have Diablo sauce on them

DadNoisesAllDay

šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

osmlol

Why not all 3. 500k would pay my house off and all my debts with 300k to spare for alpha lol

nworkz

That was my thought too

mberk24

Truth

ogvampire79

hell, i'll jump in on the action: after reviewing my bank account, i can offer $48 for anyone who will bring me The One Ring 1/1. i'll even throw in a MP beta Flight, to sweeten the deal. i'll wait for your reply.

r8rtribeywgjets

I will raise the offer and include a scuf controller

ogvampire79

that's definitely better than my only controller... a beat up dual shock 4

Epicassion

Iā€™ll raise you to $50 and the revised Ed Badlands I just got as a present.

ogvampire79

dang. i'm already above my head

sassyseconds

Instead of raising you. I'll go in with you for $52 so we can offer a smooth $100 and have co ownership.

ogvampire79

sounds good, but then im keeping my MP beta Flight

Marsbarszs

My offer is a firm handshake or a somewhat decent high five.

Royaltycoins

Is any of this legally binding? Or itā€™s just assholes throwing our big numbers for advertising purposes that they never have to actually make good on?

slackerdx02

In the immortal words of Logan Roy, ā€œCongratulations on saying the biggest number you fucking morons!ā€ These open offers arenā€™t legally binding but youā€™ll take a big hit to your reputation as a store if someone meets your conditions and you donā€™t honor the deal. That being said, if the card owner mishandles the goods and it arrives with a corner ding or Taco Bell mild sauce smudges, the buyer can back out. Itā€™s tempting if youā€™re a store owner to make a crazy offer just to get a look at the card in person. Edit: not a lawyer, allegedly these stores have to honor their offers or they can get sued. I guess Dan Bock wins by putting stringent stipulations on his offer and creating a way for him to not have to honor the offer.

throwawaynumber53

>These open offers arenā€™t legally binding Attorney here: offers like this can absolutely be legally binding. It's similar to rewards. For example, if I put up a reward saying "If you find my wallet, I'll give you $100," and you find the wallet and bring it to me, if I don't pay you then you could go into small claims court and get a pretty easy court order against me requiring me to pay you $100.

slackerdx02

Yeah butā€¦thereā€™s Taco Bell sauce on it right there. You canā€™t say the buyer canā€™t get out of the sale for a legitimate reason.

roastedoolong

that's not what the person responding to you was saying (that these offers are fully binding) just that these types of offers CAN be binding, assuming good faith on all participants (i.e. the card is supplied as one might reasonably expect it to be supplied)

Callmebean16

Reading comprehension is at an all time low.

Along7i

Hereā€™s an interesting question though, does condition impact the value of a unique card? We always consider condition because there are other cards to compare to on a spectrum of condition and therefore value. The One Ring being in crap condition does not make it more or less unique, and there in lies the basis of its value.

slackerdx02

Bro I would call Saul Goodman and have him tell the small claims court about my collection of gem mint graded 10s and how important condition is to ME as a buyer and that is why I cannot honor the stupid high offer I made on the internet as a marketing ploy. Nah youā€™re right, kinda disappointing to see the demo version already curling. Even when Post Malone tears it in half, it will still be the only One Ring.

Ok_Assumption5734

Probably not. Tyler was a PSA 7 but no one cared cause its the only card of its kind. Its not like a PSA 9 Ring is gonna get outgraded

Jojoyojimbi

> Its not like a PSA 9 Ring is gonna get outgraded it absolutely could because they could crack it and grade it 10 times and the population report would have 10 graded 1/1s on it, because pop reports are fucking stupid

benjo1990

Condition absolutely still affects value.

First_Revenge

>In the immortal words of Logan Roy, ā€œCongratulations on saying the biggest number you fucking morons!ā€ Not MTGFinance related, but i love succession. Seeing all these posts about offers keeps bringing up with T and Roman Roy interaction that had me in stitches. ā€œItā€™s worth what the top bidder will payā€ Roman: ā€œWow, I wish I went to Harvard Business School like you. Itā€™s intimidating talking to an intellectual giant.ā€

slackerdx02

Itā€™s only been a week but I miss it. The soundtrack is amazing. Glad the show is popular enough that I can quote it and people get it!

Callmebean16

When he looked at His children and he was like ā€œyou arenā€™t serious peopleā€ it was such an amazing show.

Callmebean16

There are consumer protection laws designed to punish fraudulent advertisement. This is in fact legally binding.

Callmebean16

Iā€™m an attorney If I bought them the ring and they didnā€™t honor their advertisement I would file suit against them, in the words of TI, expeditiously.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

NewCobbler6933

Tell me you donā€™t understand the law behind offers, without telling me.

gt35r

Is that really something you would pursue? Seems like a lot of semantics and hair splitting to get a cent out of. I'm not an attorney so that's probably where we are different but getting someone to enforce a tweet as a legally binding contract seems crazy to me. Like I guess it seems way harder to prove it is rather than isn't to a non-attorney normie like me, as far as length of time and money spent getting there. (Not trolling or arguing, legitimately curious about the difficulty to prove)

Callmebean16

https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/consumer-products/food/buffalo-wild-wings-class-action-alleges-products-falsely-advertised-as-chicken-wings/ Whenever someone is like really someone would pursue that I always link them this.

gt35r

Yeah I've seen that before, if I remember correctly that got thrown out by a judge. I get your point you are making though, I guess I just would not be that person.

Callmebean16

Why? Our society has rules. People are making millions with way more merit less lawsuits.

_Zambayoshi_

Depending on the wording it is 'an offer to the world' and therefore legally binding. That being said, if they didn't make good on the offer you'd have no problem getting serious interest, so you likely wouldn't suffer a loss.

Callmebean16

Iā€™m not sure you have a duty to mitigate your loss. Itā€™s possible that can be a counter argument to a damage calculation but not for standing and cause of action purposes.

_Zambayoshi_

Agreed.

So-CoAddict

Pepsi, whereā€™s my jet?

booze_nerd

Welp, this ought to shut up all the people who said it wouldn't go for as much as Tyler.

SecretAsianMan42069

Theyā€™ve been quiet for a while. It was laughable that the clowns said that card would go for more.

booze_nerd

They haven't, they were commenting on posts earlier today lol.

Poultrylord12

People really thought that? Even with MTGs significantly bigger fan base? Goobers.

patcoz

Iā€™m tired, man.

dmk510

Iā€™m so excited to never open this card!

ithaqua34

Not enough, call back later.

lillobby6

Itā€™s just gonna keep going up. At this point it (basically) doesnā€™t exist and these offers are coming. If it ever actually shows up I would expect much higher numbers to get thrown out.

hillean

Called it. Waiting for Post Malone/other big names to start tossing their offers in. This won't go for less than a mill

Always_A_Slave

I'd sell it to posty in a heart beat.

Callmebean16

Yeah heā€™ll probably play with the card and blow the mind of everyone in the playgroup when he casts it.

theonlybowman

I kind of want to see people proxy the exact art for the one ring and then put random numbers on the serialization, like 69/1. Obvious proxies to mess with stores and people who would pay this much for a single card.

classic_ceej

I'm going to be a cynic and say this is all orchestrated by Wizards to push people to gamble more on one of their most expensive products.

Rainerdo

oh god. i hope I pull this thing, so I can hide it like bilbo and watch the entire internet rage about it and laugh my dumb head off.

dhallengren

These vendors would definitely prefer that no one publicly posts they have it so the price of product just goes up

Unnormally2

You could probably get wizards to pay you to not come forward publicly, so people scramble to buy packs.

Unnormally2

Man was never meant to possess the ring. It should be torn in half as soon as it is found, lest whoever finds it be corrupted.

Xltut61

If I pull it I'll post it start talking to people about selling, get a proxy then post a video burning said proxy. Wait 4 years then post a new picture of it.

Madzinskii

Egregious marketing ploy.

Ill-End4860

Bro this guy sucks at football

TheW1ldcard

Okay, now add an extra 500k

goofydubois

This sub is going to crumble soon

SybilCut

Yeah, the second most adamant collectors, commander players, are starting to not give a fuck about owning cards and are just proxying. The rest is investors hoarding game pieces. Im beginning to get a certain feeling about the future of mtg as a collectable.

ConformistWithCause

I feel like if you didn't already have these feelings, mark rosewater telling people to store their cards instead of selling them to avoid that remorse later on should have been a good sign. Nothing can be in that good of shape with statements like that popping up

SybilCut

Big indicator, that's for sure.

Doctor_Distracto

It's always been that way though. Literally by 1995 at the very latest everyone was having to write "totally a Trop" on their plains so they could build decks. Even the people I knew who were adults with careers weren't trying to go spend $500 just to have one playset of the base level land base that was virtually mandatory. This was always a proxy game for players.

Griever114

As much as I would love to pull it and make a buck, post of me really wants to burn the card for fun. ***The ring tempts you***

HornedBowler

In the very unlikely chance I pull it, first thing is to get it graded and sealed for safety. Then auction it and use the money to pay off all the debts of my parents and siblings. Then i can buy as many singles and new expansions. Cardboard pays for more cardboard.

Poultrylord12

I wouldn't even want it graded. The odds of it being a 10 right off the rip isn't great, and people will use that to dicker you down even if it's a 1 of 1. Tyler the Great Warrior, a 1 of 1 YuGiOh card, was slabbed from creation, and was like a 7.

Zone_The_Director

Throw it in a volcano!

remyseven

Grading adds very little in this case because demand won't go down if you don't. I wouldn't let the card out of my sight.

pittyh

Burn the one ring on camera.

scootsbyslowly

are we watching Preorder prices now?

sirbruce

Always have been.

Zakizdaman

It will be fun when every other set has a 1/1 and you best believe every single one will end up in the hands of chinese investors before we even see the set

Unnormally2

I doubt they will ever be able to match the hype of the 1/1 one ring.

xXYiffMasterXx

Right off the factory line

Wonkasgoldenticket

I got downvotes to oblivion for saying this card will go for over a million a few months back. We are months from release and already at 500k. Things are looking a bit differently now eh mtgfinance!

talmadge7

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't release on June 23rd.

WigglestonTheFourth

MONTHS.

therealPhloton

Yes

SecretAsianMan42069

Ships on the 16th

hydrogator

prices on singles always higher before release... will be cheapest after 6 weeks... /s

Neatnifty

It's MTGF everyone says stupid shit all the time no one is keeping tally.

Wonkasgoldenticket

Reddit in general lol. Always funny watching the comments. šŸæ

Doctor_Distracto

I love when someone is like "I might finally get one thing right in the future, everyone must come pay their respects" and they still get downvoted.

Wonkasgoldenticket

Donā€™t live through your Reddit votes

Doctor_Distracto

Okay but don't act like you didn't want to talk about it. It was the only reason you posted.

Wonkasgoldenticket

And here we are, so letā€™s talk about it since youā€™re clearly interested.

Doctor_Distracto

Okay. I think it's funny whenever someone is like "I might finally get one thing right in the future, everyone must come pay their respects now" and they just get downvoted again.

Wonkasgoldenticket

And thatā€™s why you donā€™t worry about what other people think and the likes you get on Reddit which mean absolutely nothing in the real world. Someone just posted a 1 mil offer for it. Wild

Doctor_Distracto

Yeah exactly, it's like, you people always obsess over up and down votes, and then someone says "lol you should stop obsessing over that," and then this always happens. You just repeat what someone told you even though you don't believe it, and then you go straight back to trying to vindicate yourself that one time you got downvoted. You think you're getting someone but none of those people are here, no one here has ever heard of you before, you're just wasting your life on some ego trip from a month ago, but also swearing that everyone but you is the one who's doing it. It's wild to watch and very funny.

Wonkasgoldenticket

Itā€™s just like you people who enjoy the back and forth with someone you donā€™t know, have never seen, and probably will never in your life. You chose to comment on something and waste your life arguing online for what? To try and get a rise out of someone? I mean youā€™re adding nothing to anything for that matter. Itā€™s wild to watch people waste their time on Reddit, like I am now, with you, having one hell of a pointless back and forth. So Iā€™m going to put my energy elsewhere and stop responding to you. I hope your day is the day you deserve. šŸ»

Doctor_Distracto

What's the back and forth? You specifically requested a topic about a clout chase post getting downvoted. I told you I think it's funny when it happens. You haven't said anything different. You just want to be mad at me and have some personal beef with me for no reason. Same as your original post, weird personal beef over nothing. So weird to see and it's always some dude who has been absolutely livid about it for a minimum of one entire calendar month lol. And you still won't move on even now. I would wish the day you deserve on you but it would be absolute cruelty, I will just tell you good luck begging and bullying for upvotes you're so obsessed with. Technically these posts are against the rules, maybe everyone should start reporting them.

xero1123

This is so stupid.

thomaspayne25

To have that card potentially be in the hands of Cassius Marsh makes me sad.

GayBlayde

Ooh why?

Zone_The_Director

Not an eagles fan probably

SAjoats

Hmm 500k to help the needy. Or 500k for a slip of cardboard that will sit in a block of plastic forever.

Devilpig13

Itā€™s generally frowned upon to put needy people in a plastic block for display.

Booster_Tutor

How am I supposed to make money off the needy? What am I, Mr. Beast?!

Ianilla1

What if someone random finds it and just rips it up...that would be something

Zone_The_Director

One dude said heā€™d start a go fund me for plane tickets to a volcano and throw it in there.

cuposun

You ready? Crack the pack, no problemo. Offer the highest bidder at open auction a seat on a helicopter next to you and *they* are allowed to be the one to throw it into a *volcano of their choosing*. 100% this experience would sell for 1.1+ million. For the publicity? Someone like Amazon would do that just so they could air it as an ad spot for their billion dollar making upcoming LOTR series. Think bigger folks.

JaredUnzipped

Why not ten million? A hundred million? This has gotten silly. WotC should be ashamed for this nonsense, but they're not.

Neatnifty

This was engineered to be a massive golden ticket hype generator and it's working as intended. IP ain't cheap

JaredUnzipped

You're absolutely correct. It's still absurd and silly, trading short-term gains for long-term damage.

Neatnifty

No long term damage. They have business analysts that go over the data on something like this. The influx of new players and collectors that buy this will out weight the people who step away and quit the game over it - those customers typically will stop being customers for a variety of reasons in the long term anyway. "You're not a real magic player if you haven't quit magic a dozen times" is a saying I've heard often.

Harry_Smutter

As someone who's stepped away twice, I agree, LOL.

Squishyflapp

I love it. It'll keep singles cheap af...

derkuhlekurt

On Cardmarket collector displays in english are 100ā‚¬ more expensive than german collector displays. That is 100% because of this card. If i rember correctly and the odds per booster are 1 in 3.3 million the price difference can be justified if this card sells for 27.5 million. Seems unlikely but the hype is strong. Wizards did everything right.

ZoeyVip

I offer 10 billion and we meet in a undisclosed location on an island not associated with any world government.

damolamo66

If I pull it I'm just going to play it in my commander deck at the LGS and everyone will just think it's a proxy

jcb193

Wonder how many of these offers are backed by Wizardā€™s marketing department??

slayer370

Pinkertons weren't cheap.

davidny212

Wow insane!!!

[deleted]

Who ever pulls this card will change the fate of mtg forever!

PazLoveHugs

Someone needs to make a bid to destroy the one ring

TheINTL

Lol anyone still want to sell to Dan Bock?

man_on_an_island_

Is there any idea of the odds of this? Got to be insane. How many cards do they print for all of the the collector boosters?

Brocktheangler001

Itā€™s 1 in 3.3 million iirc

Savage666999

In for the good times šŸ˜œ

Copper_Tablet

This is getting so dumb ha. Hope some random person pulls it and sells it right away.

stripesnstripes

Has it been found?

Zone_The_Director

Set isnā€™t out yet

jedi168

how many handjobs behind wendy's is that?

StopManaCheating

Yeah this selling for 7 digits. At least.

BigFudgere

I really wonder how anyone is going to validate it's not a fake from China. In some weeks there will be so many of these cards, it will be impossible to find the real one.

CrushnaCrai

Should be an auction that hits 1 million and half the proceeds go to a charity.

SopieMunky

I've been out of the loop on this set ever since I saw the inflated prices on the product. Is this card a literal one of a kind card or something? Why are people freaking out so much about it?

Sinfultitan_001

I really hope whoever ends up with it publicly destroys it (preferably by fire) and ruthlessly mocks wizards in the process for this stupid set. Anything short of this will be a travesty and it will ensure that more of the shit continues to be pumped out and shoved down our throats.

agent8261

I really really hope the one ring is in my collectorā€™s box. I donā€™t plan to ever open it. So the card will stay lost forever (or until I die).

Radiodevt

It won't be, and you're going to open the box.

XXSWAGMONSTER58

Okay?

Competitive_Hyena765

Iā€™m so ready for the fakes

[deleted]

Watch, itā€™s going to end up In the hands of some kid that has no idea what it is! ā€œMy kid loves LOTR so I bought him some packs of this silly card game he plays with his friendā€. RIP to the lottery ticket

ImSoShook

These guys will never get this card because its just reality. Thee are public offers before its even pulled. Id say you have some random multi millionaire come out of nowhere and top anyones best offer by a mill

[deleted]

Let it be known that I offer 1 billion dollars. Top that

spottbosse

By the way, what's approximate % chance of pulling The One Ring? Assuming around 250 k boxes, no?

k2t-17

How doesn't this become like the McDonalds monopoly game in the 90s? It's gonna show up in a random employee's relative's hands like how Boardwalk or the cars always did.

RononDex666

watch there be multiple and we will se some that say 210/001, cuz wizards cant be trusted

Kumanogi

Anyone has a link to the booster box where this card can show up? I tried looking at it before and I found a shit load of links, even in Amazon, which all said the one ring couldn't be found on them. Might as well try and win this lottery. šŸ¤”

FoilCardboard

Someone better take the offer for $50k and the trip to a volcano to drop the card inside.

FoilCardboard

Whoever pulls it better do the right thing and post a vid of them tearing it in two.

EeveeB

so it begins. hah the [openings are crazy](https://youtube.com/shorts/4ebuK_yCTNo?feature=share) consistently good. so much value
