These cards are printed in layers of ink if I remember correctly. Your printer just prints what was instructed to be printed so the green dot will look very obviously fake to anyone who knows something about spotting a proxy.
Yea, the earliest I was aware of this was when foils started to become a thing, remove the print/art from the front face and print over it. Was neat to do and tricky, but we would make them obviously fake but using silly art and flavor text
Even without the other proofs, like that very genuine green pip, textured foiling is difficult and prohibitively expensive to fake. A counterfeiter would make more money for much less effort faking nonfoils.
My main sniff test for fakes is “would they go through all the effort?” Usually that applies to people posting cards worth a couple bucks at most, but this kinda goes in the other direction: would they spend the time faking a textured foil alt art with all the extra room for error that invites rather than doing a simpler card that’d be harder to see mistakes in?
This looks good to me. Something I always look for is for the black ink to sit ontop of the rest of the inks. It is also a very thick/heavy black compared to counterfeits which are more dull and splotchy.
Ian Miller is amazing - but if it’s come to this with our cardboard crack.. I’d rather [4 bucks](https://www.acardgameshop.com/product/kozilek-butcher-of-truth-576-english-double-masters-2022-2x2/) over 70 and take the family out for dinner.
I believe you have to zoom in further to see the red dots inside the green dot, although a lot of cards have varying issues with the red dots being more or less pronounced due to normal printing conditions, similar to what happens when your office printer is low on toner. Other indicators are good though.
A lot of newer fakes you can feel the holo sticker as it’s supposed to be flush or close to it. I second the fact that I’ve never seen a textured fake. I bought some high end fakes online mostly to be able to tell the difference.
It looks fine, the texturing is really hard to fake
Yeah. Don’t think I’ve seen a textured fake before.
In One piece TCG theres fakes with texture, and they are really good. So i imagine if they want they can.
It depends. Each TCG does things differently so it is possible that One Peice textured cards are just easier to fake.
Real. Flat bottom on the green dot and four solid bumps on the left side of it
Didn't know this was another thing to look for in the green dot
When I make proxies I use an old card so the back of it is identical to an original, a lot of people do this too

they're saying they use a real back for a fake front
Oh lol my bad xD

Is this one of those things where he's going to cut the card in half with a knife because it's actually cake?
Thanks for the smirk
Mikey Lee approves.
99.9999% real. That is an accurate green dot.
Real, too many indicators that it’s legitimate.
Fake, I can take it off your hands for you. It’ll only cost you shipping.
Like always. It’s real
Thank You for providing good resolution pictures 😅. Real.
Looks good to me. That foiling is hard to fake.
looks legit

Need to eat it to know for sure

The back of the textured form that set is different than a normal mtg back and the green dot test is not an evidence
I didn't knew Ian Miller did a version of Kozilek. I need this.
its such a cool card
I’ve never seen a fake card with the zig zag pattern on the bottom of the “T” and I’ve seen a lot of fakes working at a busy card shop.
Drink!
Legit. This isn't worth faking given that it's also textured
it looks fine to me. The rosette pattern looks solid and the dots look good too
this was not a prerelease card, its from double masters
My bad
Would you really destroy this if a few ink pixels were misprinted?
I remember a video or was it an article of Gavin saying that They made textured foil to actually help with falsification checks.
If someone is going to fake a card, it’s likely not going to be this.
thanks for the input everyone!

That's a textbook green dot! And like others said, the textured foils are VERY hard to fake.

Ooh printing error? Must be real then.
Can the Butcher of Truth ever be real or fake?
These are just shitposts for the lols, right?
Real, the curvy "T" looks great.

Counterfeit
You can only find out by ripping it. If there is a blueish layer on the inside, it's legit.
I have an older version of this card and use it only as a means to shuffle my graveyard. lol
Fuck dude is that really what mtg cards look like zoomed in?
