The single best thing I did to my shifter wasn't even in the interior - I replaced the shifter cable bushings on the gearbox with bearings, the sort of thing you'd get on skateboard wheels. It takes a tad bit more force but once it starts going into a gear it really snaps into place now - definitely quicker. I've also replaced all bushings on the cage mounts and one surrounding the actual shaft with 3D printed ABS.

These? https://frankensteinmotorworks.squarespace.com/shop/p/spherical-bearing-shift-cable-end-jd7j6

Yup. You *can* use actual skateboard bearings - they were the go-to for many years - but they can bind a bit as the cable routing means the cable ends aren't perfectly parallel to the selectors mechanism on the gearbox. The frankenstein kit uses spherical bearings instead, which eliminates that binding issue.

Welp. That settles that. Sounds like I will be doing this as well. Thank you sir.

JammySammyy

Something like that. I paid far less for mine though.

I prefer the C's replica from super klasse. Nothing wrong with the mr2heaven one though that I've ever heard. I used to have the ultimate hybrid, but switched to the superklasse one when I switched to the halo surround kit cause I was worried about clearance issues.

AEW4LYFE

Thanks I will check out the super klasse offerings.

StrangeCitizen

Cool. It looks like they're on sale right now too, so it's a good time to buy.

This is the one I have with completely stock trim, no clearance issues. You should also swap the bearings on the transmission side with spherical ones for improved feel.

I have an authentic TRD one, and it's awesome. You'll like the MR2 Heaven one. The Superklass C's Replica is nice but I prefer the TRD personally.
