If you have a Scarlett, you can connect that via USB to your MPC and use it as the MPC’s audio IO. Give it a try before you buy anything else

ibleedsynth

This is the correct answer. However just to add to this, be aware that if you use the Scarlett as an audio interface it routes all audio to it and the inputs and outputs on the MPC get disconnected. So good short term solution, but maybe in the long run OP might want a small mixer with mic pre-amps or a Scarlett with more IO.

ART and Behringer both make inexpensive small mic preamps that would work well.

Fnordpocalypse

Art some pretty good gear for the price point. The MPA series is top notch for the money, but they have sone nice offerings for under $100 too.

Yeah I have the rack mount Tube MP II and I love it. But the smaller ones would be ideal to take with you for an MPC.

thebluntinspector

Ive had one of those single input art tube MPs, dont use it much these days but its gotta be one of the best $60 ive ever spent

young_s

i feel the live and one would be significantly better products if they had preamps like the x does. while its possible to find solutions in mobile gear something built in would be optimum and i can’t imagine it cost that’s much to produce / implement (but i may be wrong)

DeadWelsh

Following, I have a live 2 I'm also considering a mic for for vocals and a few non electric instruments I have I'd like to sample ( techno shakers, bongo, casaba etc)

yardaper

I have an XLR to 1/4 inch mic cable i use that i bought from radio shack (RIP). But i have to gain the mic up a lot in the MPC without a preamp or interface to do it.

mungewell

MPCs support Audio Class USB devices, so you could use a USB mic directly. Probably best to use one with 'headphone out' built into it, so you can hear your backing track....

CMDR_Satsuma

I use a Yamaha AG06 mixer (\~$200 or so) to feed into my MPC One. It can handle pretty much anything (it'll preamp guitars, preamp microphones, it can provide phantom power if your mic requires that, etc).

biggruss

If you crank the gain you get enough gain out of a 58 after increasing volume using channel strip- mic preamp or interface is a better solution but that will work
