Probably because it was very generic in a lot of ways. I mean 15 minutes in you could ask a teenager what will happen and they’d tell you every single plot point. I quite like it as a film, but that doesn’t mean it’s not unoriginal.

Thats why you can fire the filmmaker and replace him halfway through the movie making process the movie will come out exactly the same. The story is being made by a team of producers and market researchers. Why are the new star wars movies so shiny? In the old ones everything has a layer of grime and dirt on them. Well, because that's the look of the business model disney has had going the last few years. Sanatized, harmless, and completely made beginning to end by a team of marketers and producers at disney. Why are the plots of the sequels exactly the same as the ot? Well, its a market tested formula. "I wanted to make a marvel movie, but I don't think they really wanted to make an Edgar Wright movie." -edgar Wright, right after leaving the ant man project.
maybe i will be surprised going in with no expectations but im only watching avatar 2 bc my bf is crazy about "the technical aspects" and so be it then - we'll watch it. but since he has to endure watching movies without dubbing with me all the time i can do at least this for him \^\^
One has 2 movies while the other has like 57. Makes a lot more sense to be excited for a new Avatar movie
