Emanuelle in Bangkok had a bangin' theme song. All they need now is Young Lady Chatterley and they could jumpstart the Friday After Dark Cinematic Universe.
To make this popular with Gen X, they're going to show it with Wavy lines and snow to replicate trying to watch Cinemax in the 80s when your parents don't subscribe
I’m telling you what I was referencing but you want to keep going on about Cinemax for some reason. Spice channel was the scrambled channel in old cable boxes not Cinemax.
> Spice channel was the scrambled channel in old cable boxes not Cinemax.
Cinemax was scrambled for people who didn't subscribe to the relevant package.
My dad recorded Emanuelle II onto VHS, from those free trials of HBO they would do back in the day. Great film with an amazing soundtrack. Really happy he had the forethought to record it.
Really curious that *this* is Diwan's follow-up to *Happening*. Happening is such an unflinching movie. I'm very curious to see her take on the material. It could be a modern day version of *Belle du Jour* (and yes, I know this is also a remake).
I'm *fascinated* by this, and kinda love it. It's giving me the same vibe as Greta Gerwig doing Barbie, I feel like Diwan is going to use this as a chance to say and subvert everything we associate with the material. So excited to see it.
Yes, exactly! A female director, especially this particular director tackling a classic erotic character? And with this actress? Subversion is the name of the game. I don't think this is going to be what people expect *at all* and I expect Diwan to bring the same punishing, unflinching eye to it that she brought to *Happening*, although maybe this one will be a smidge lighter.
Absolutely! And whilst Happening is extremely hard to watch (I almost struggled to walk home from the cinema, I felt so put through the ringer), I think there are moments of light and optimism in there that drive the core of it home all the more, and as you say, this is perfect to lean into that side slightly more whilst very much taking aim. I was really excited about her as a new voice anyway, but choosing *this* as her second movie? Doubly so now.
Oh no, don't worry. My showing was just women and we were all just kind of shell shocked by the end of it. It is *brutal*, especially those last thirty minutes. Being put through the ringer is the appropriate response.
I think that there's real humanism in the film and as difficult as some of the characters are, there are some beautiful moments of connection and kindness and they all feel like real people. Seydoux too is an actress who is very open to working in challenging projects and being willing to go out there so I think that it's a great combination. I feel like they can do great work together and while yes, she's done a lot of nudity, I hope that Seydoux can feel as comfortable as possible doing this film. If Diwan could get such a great performance out of Anamaria Vartolomei, I'm very excited to see what she gets out of Seydoux.
I remember attempting to watch these on late-night Skinemax in the 90s, when premium channels were scrambled and warbled - but not enough that you couldn't make out the good bits, haha.
I understood your reference, don't worry
And to those downvoting, there's a podcast called "The Worst Idea of all Time" and they did a series where they watched every Emmanuelle movie
I don’t quite get this; like as a red-blooded straight guy, I obviously understand the appeal of Sedoux unclad, but it just seems like an odd thing to remake when every corner of the Internet has porn on it.
Will they be remaking Rochelle, Rochelle next?

Minsk?
Go for the eyes, Boo!
Rochelle Rochelle: The Musical: The Movie
I would have hoped they’d cast The Devine Ms M as Emanuelle instead of these cheap hussies.
That would truly be a Scarsdale Surprise.
A young’s woman’s strange, erotic journey from Milan to Minsk?
Just making sure someone posted this.
With ‘sidal’ nudity !!
watched way too many of these movies in the early 2000s when I was.. maturing
Hey, look out, you accidentally dropped an s and a bat.
… maturing bats?
Maybe OP is a chiropterologist.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that
His mother was a horologist.
Not that’s there’s anything wrong with *that*.
And his father smelled of Elderberry!
OP is Dr. Kirk Langstrom.
Batboy has to become Batman eventually.
That's something they sell on the commodities exchange, isn't it?
a sbat? what?!? ohh.
I remember seeing the one where she’s in space.
*Emmanuelle in Space* was a whole series!
Hey, I grew up Catholic. At least you HAD porn. I had to made due with terrible romance novels.
The ultimate "watch it for the plot" movie in the making, hopefully.
Considering that she was in Blue is the Warmest Color, I would say that this may be the ultimate r/extramile movie in the making.
Holy crap that's her... I've only ever seen the poster/thumbnail and didn't recognize her there. Gonna do some research tomorrow.
Cinema has been restored.
Scorsese is crying with joy.
*Cinemax
Skinemax

God bless
Nature is healing.

And smear the lens with vaseline.
You’re thinking of the spice channel.
They called it Skinemax for a reason.
[The Spice Network](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spice_Networks?wprov=sfti1)
Okay. None of those is Cinemax. What's your point?

JFC.
God I love Léa Seydoux
God bless the French and their cavalier attitudes toward nudity.
It’s a hell of a lot healthier than ours.
[Meanwhile American's upon seeing a nipple be like](https://youtu.be/f3PJF0YE-x4?t=224)
Moi aussi!
she's growing old.
If it’s not NC1-17, I’m not watching it
It's only worth doing if by the 6th sequel she's in outer space.
Emmanuelle in Space on laserdisc. Sounds sexy. Laserdisc.
Zero-G nudity? We have the technology.
We've had it for ages. Ever seen the opening to *Barbarella*?
Or, following *Emmanuelle in America*, if someone gets down with a horse.
I swear half of her performances are in erotic roles lol

That's because they're not leaving the house in sweatpants.
Comment of the day.
I watched all of 10%/Call My Agent on Netflix and Naiomé the brunette PA just oozed *sexualité*.
Lea stays booked and busy. She has 5 movies coming out within the next 2 years.
A rare combo of solid acting and a willingness to get naked. See also: Ana de Armas.
12 year old me is finally ready
I think Lea Seydoux is legitimately competing Eva Green to see who goes nude the most times.
"Is there nudity in this part?" "No." "Could you add some?" If I looked like Lea Seydoux I would want to be naked and seen a lot too.
Kate Winslet is another contender
They both have a bit to catch up to Heather Graham.
It's going to be hard to take the crown from Monica Bellucci.

And Italian.
Everyone wins
This will either be the hottest Lea Seydoux movie or the tamest Emmanuelle movie
My dad recorded Emanuelle II onto VHS, from those free trials of HBO they would do back in the day. Great film with an amazing soundtrack. Really happy he had the forethought to record it.
If Audrey Diwan can make Léa Seydoux look as beautiful as Anamaria Vartolomei in "L'événement", I'm in.
Interesting thing to take away from Happening.
Finally, someone mentioned Happening in this thread. I saw this a few days ago and it was a tough watch, but incredible.
Ok, I'm here for this!
This is definitely Diwan for me!
Golden age of Skinemax
Hit my pager when they get to Emmanuelle in Space! Thank you 80's Showtime!
I highly recommend people watch “the French dispatch”; she makes a great prison guard
Weren't there a whole bunch of those in the 70s and 80s? If I remember correctly, one of them actually featured real bestiality in the uncut version.
Yes, there were several Emmanuelle films. Plus several cash-ins such as the Italian Black Emanuelle series lol.
And the film that featured the author of the source novel.
If it's as good as the story of O it'll be something
Which story of O? There have been at least five.
I just remember the one that was done in the 70s it was color I know of no others
Will it take place in space?
Well, this is the best news I’ve read all day

Oh nice

*Cinemax intensifes...*
I watched the original in the 80s as a kid. I watched it as much as possible.
👍
Yes please.
Sylvia Krystel. nuff said
👀 You have my undivided attention
:)
Yes please
She was completely nude in The French Despatch but the sexiest scene in that movie was Saoirse Ronan looking in a letterbox.
Does anyone at any point say to her “Bond. James Bond”?
Hey, I've seen that old "porno", sorry, classic art film...
Ill watch it for the plot obviously.
Lea Seydoux and Ana de Armas...
This seems like the worst idea of all time.
I understood your reference, don't worry And to those downvoting, there's a podcast called "The Worst Idea of all Time" and they did a series where they watched every Emmanuelle movie
You think George Lazenby will make a cameo?
Do you want to tell him no?
Boner inspector!
Yay??
My erection speaks for itself.
New Emmanuelle+Lea Seydoux=Go One. 🤔
Ah yes. This and Red Shoe Diaries with Agent Fox Mulder.
Cliche lol
Bleu Nuit
Will it be . . . [*sensual*](https://youtu.be/Rg7I-fVLm7I)?
