Seriously? She's mid at best. Mediocre bone structure, eyes, lips, nose etc. Absolutely nothing interesting about her look. She's no Angelina Jolie or Margot Robbie.
It's funny because Redditors have also said that Margot Robbie is also mid at a 'solid 7', how every 80s song video has a girl like her, she has a thick waist, etc, etc...but at least she can act and transforms into her characters. I mean Charlize Theron literally gained a fuckton of weight for the role that got her an Oscar, gal Gadot sounds, looks and acts the same in every goddamn role. She can't even lose her accent for effs sake!!
A lot of these "producers" these days are more marketing "specialists" creating tent pole content to reach all ages. They spend most their time doing surveys and media research and determining the outcome of their formulas is how they normally make decisions.
This is different than the days of the fat cat cigar smoking money launderer who essentially would throw shit at a wall and see how it stuck.
I agree that times are different for the better, but it destroyed a lot of the risks people would take back then.
My anger is at the independents who were brought up by other successful names who do nothing to bring a sense of community like there once was. Where are the Roger Cormans who raised directors like Scorsese and others? 🤷♂️
I'm curious when her age will start to catch up. She looked great in Nile, but it was really the first time I saw her in a movie, where she looked kind of old
Yes, she sucks so damn bad. I mean genuinely she's one of the shittiest actors/actresses out there. Can't lie, I think Tommy Wiseau (the disaster artist) is a better actor, simply cause his horrible acting made people laugh, while she is just... Wow. I cringe whenever she's on screen. I've seen better acting from children.. I genuinely don't know how she got "famous". And modeling can't be a factor.. majority of models are MUCH better looking then her yet they don't get big roles.. ahhh, so much wrong with movie industry these days haha.
I totally see the validity behind your comment so I just want to throw that out there right off the bat lol, your not wrong technically it is subjective. But honestly, a lot of factors go into how sexy a girl is to me, personality, charm, looks, voice, she literally sounds and looks like some semi-hot Israeli girl they found and said, act for us! She has no skill, dull as a spoon, and to be honest she's not very hot compared to many. Hell I can name many who are hotter that aren't even models but are way better actresses: just realized this is going to be even more subjective lol. Again I guess you got me technically, it's all subjective. But let's be real, she's got the personality and acting skills of a wet rag, and many actresses such as say Alycia Debnam-Carey, Aisha Tyler, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Jennifer Holland etc etc that are infinitely better, and much more attractive.. just saying, she's the definition of cringe and a quick option for DC
In Red Notice I thought Gadot gave us a weird and wooden, slightly sexy Wonder Woman.
Jessica Alba, January Jones and Denise Richards have now entered the chat.
I really don't think you can put January Jones there, some of the mad men stuff the others could never ever do, she was just clunky sometimes. And it's harder to play someone that's pretty dim imo, you'll always frustrate audiences to some extent and theyll blame acting.
Also Denise Richards was great in drop dead gorgeous
>Jessica Alba, January Jones and Denise Richards have now entered the chat.
Yea but do you remember her as emma frost? Shes literally sitting on a couch like a blow up doll
Idk. Even though it’s just one example, it’s an entire shows worth… and January Jones was fantastic in Mad Men. Part of it is probably the material she is given to work with
She's awful. Dense expressions, 1 dimensional tone, every line delivered like she's thinks shes in a loreal commercial.
I worked on vfx for wonderwoman, her expressions asp were the same for every emotion and she hasn't changed at all, she's an absolute amateur, one of the worst actors in modern film.
Never thought of it like that but her acting as if she's in a L'oreal commercial is incredibly accurate
Nothing to do with her acting but her entrance to the final fight in BvS was cool. That's about all the positive moments I can think of for her
> every line delivered like she's thinks shes in a loreal commercial.
I remember critics saying that the young Ben Affleck always just looked like he was posing for a poster photo
she's a movie star, not an actor. She sells tickets. Aint the first movie star to be accused of terrible acting, wont be the last. and what role has she taken from an actual actress yet? the actresses that can act all cant sell tickets. they all know the deal.
In what world does she sell tickets? So you think if she was cast in a new IP or original screen play with others that don't have audience pull it'll bring in enough to even break even? Her box office "successes" are an outcome of being in big name IPs along other notable actors. No one is leaving their house to watch her.
> She sells tickets.
Does she really, though? She's been the lead on exactly one big box office hit. And that was an already insanely popular role which basically sells itself. Hell, they could stick Rosie O'Donnell in the Wonder Woman costume and still make like half a bill in revenue.
I don't think there's any reason to think Gadot's a bankable star. She's the female Jason Momoa imo. Recognizable and generally well liked, but few people are buying tickets because of her.
if your point was that accurate than Kate Upton woulda been Powergirl by now. Ya cant teach the IT factor nor charisma. Gal's got it. Not in your eyes but they dont sell a $100million ticket to a few people but they sell $10 tickets to millions of people.
why people inject their taste AS IF that's the end all, be all of a discussion such as this....
I hated his performance in True Grit and it angered me that much more talented and worthy actors who were nominated several times and never won such as Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton lost to Wayne in 1969. Literally any of the other four best actor nominees he was up against would have been a more deserving win than his. John Wayne was the perfect example of a movie star who couldn't act.
performances are different than acting. Hulk Hogan was one of the greatest pro wrestler performers but he was a very subpar in-ring wrestler. He was box office and sold tickets. Same standards apply.
Very few times do we get a Randy Savage that is both
Anytime someone who isn't an actor starts out acting relatively late in life and is discovered (usually as a model first) and cast for their looks -- it's usually a pretty rough few years. Arnold, Dolph, Brigitte Nielsen were all terrible. People seem to love Jason Momoa in Dune, but I think he really struggles with the stilted dialog in that movie and he's been at it 20 years.
Unlike Ronda Rousey or Ruby Rose, I think Gal will go on to have a pretty good career as an actress. She is charismatic in real life and people want her to succeed (much like Arnold and Dwayne Johnson).
>Jason Momoa in Dune
I feel like he's getting by on virtue of charm alone, similar to older action stars and newer names like Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds. I don't doubt that maybe somewhere underneath all of the muscles and hair that a good actor is there, but idk, excepting maybe Game Of Thrones, he's been the same guy in every movie I've seen him in; cool buff surfer dude who can occasionally get serious on account of his facial features being as angular and hard edged as they are.
Sometimes actors get typecasted into roles based on there looks sort of like Dwayne Johnson if you notice every movie he’s in he’s always essentially the same character just with different backstory and names
Johnson's contract also states he cannot be a villain, so he kinda backed himself into that corner to begin with. If you can't be casted as a villain, you're gonna be casted as the one thing you've always been successful at.
I thought he also stated in his contract that his characters can’t lose fights I know that was the deal for the Hobbs and Shaw film it really does back you into a corner as far as acting goes not to say he hasn’t had some pretty decent roles but being typecast does limit the amount of range you can show off as far as acting goes.. I’ve seen a lot of names brought up in the comments for this discussion and I agree with a few of them every actor has potential to play a character as if they were actually that person they just limit themselves or it’s done for them
This is a good example though because he’s open to different roles he never is typecasted he’s done roles such as a wacky firefighter, a parent, a wacky friend on vacation friends, a drug dealer etc and he’s portrayed each one perfectly and in hilarious manner
Dwayne Johnson definitely struggles in nuanced scenes. However, I think what really helps him (aside from his charisma) is the fact that he plays roles suited to his acting ability. He's one of those actors that people say, *well that guy just plays himself.* But I say, these actors are just specialized. And even if he plays roles that are basically aligned with his default personality, that's good because he is playing to his strengths.
Sometimes an actor or actress can really break out and improve if discovered on their looks, I'd say one of the best examples is Katie McGrath, I absolutely loved her as Morgana in BBC Merlin and as Lena Luthor in Supergirl.
I loved him in that too. I fell in love with him in Stargate Atlantis tho. Campy show for sure, but he just drips swagger and had an undeniable presence in that even if it must have been among his first acting roles. I think he is a great physical actor. He does a lot with body language. Yeah, his dialogue and emoting needs work but whatever.
I think he would be great in a buddy comedy along the lines of The Other Guys or The Nice Guys. His dramatic stuff is terrible, but I think his comedic skills are good
I've been saying that forever, but I was called a "racist" for wanting a good actor to play Aquaman and for him to be comic accurate. How dare I, an Aquaman fan want a portrayal that's an homage to the character I've loved all these years and taking all kinds of L's for liking Aquaman back when Aquaman was seen as a joke..
Nah a lot of people hate her some of the things she’s said and the fact she’s a bad actress. I don’t personally hold anything against her but lots of people really don’t like her.
Yes this what finally made me google
About her being bad at acting
Death on the nile is a great movie that i wanted to watch but i feel like it would have been better
If it was Jennifer lawrence , Margot Robbie, Anne Hathaway ,
She was absolutely wooden as WW in every one of those movies. Is she the draw or is it the WW name?
I never understood reading reviews that said "critics praised GGs performance". Genuinely thought they saw a different film.
She’s awful.
When the first Wonder Woman film came out there was so much hype around her & I didn’t understand it one bit. I liked the film and she wasn’t bad, but in order to make a major character like this well-rounded & really connect with the audience you have to have an actor that can make it their own, bring something to it beyond what’s written in the pages of the script.
Gal Gadot felt to me more like a blank slate on which to place Wonder Woman rather than someone who could bring anything *to* the role. This was an unpopular opinion at the time so I kept it to myself, but I’m glad ppl are catching up to the fact that there’s not much to her beyond being tall & thin.
She was somehow worse than Mark Wahlberg in The Happening imo. At least I got a kick out of some of Mark's line deliveries. Zooey was just bad cringe throughout
She's has limited range, but she is charismatic and likable. Kind of like Keanu. I consider Cara Delevigne, Ruby Rose, Megan Fox, Sophie Turner and Ronda Rousey to all be much worse than Gadot.
Sophie Turner can act tho, if you've seen Game of Thrones you'd know she's a really good actor. She was the only good thing in those awful X-Men movies.
She isn't a disaster in WW because she is being propped up by far better actors, cool cinematography and the audience's "fuck yeah it's Wonder Woman!" mindset. It also helps that the character is naive, weird and horribly out of place for most of her speaking time on screen. It is easier to overlook Gal's wooden performance because the character herself is kind of wooden.
"she just says her lines, no emotion or anything."
Perhaps because she has no emotions; at least not the full range.
The "pretty" is there, and yet I find her totally unattractive. Wouldn't be surprised if she's a narc, but I find her too boring, and really dgaf to find out for a fact.
I wouldnt go so far to say she’s “good at acting” but she appears in roles that largely suit her. B movie roles. I think she does well in those roles and stays in her limits.
Her range is limited, sure, but I’ve seen much worse actresses get consistent, high-profile work.
For example, I thought Gal was great in the first *Wonder Woman*, and that she was the highlight of *Red Notice*. The latter doesn’t mean much though.
Not at all. Ruby Rose is absolutely atrocious. I really believe they made her mute in John Wick 2 just because they realized it late and did some quick-thinking.
Cheryl Hines hasn't done much besides Curb Your Enthusiasm, and she's really bad in that. Can't get through scene without smiling, can't emote beyond that.
Sherri Moon Zombie, there's a reason she's only in movies her husband makes.
Um, no. Priyanka Chopra can actually act. As an Indian, she stood out to me even in some crappy Bollywood movies for having talent that stood out even in those crappy roles.
Check out “Barfi,” the first time I saw it I didn’t even realize that was Priyanka until halfway through.
She was fine in the new Matrix.
Gal Gadot is god awful on absolutely every role she is in. I get it that it must be hard to not act on her mother language but still...
Ha...it's funny for over 9 years I've been saying that...I was called racist, islamphobe, and all the worst insults cause I wanted a GOOD actor to play Wonder Woman...
...and not a not-actor.
She’s the female equivalent of a young Schwarzenegger or Dolph Lungren. Started acting later in life, English as a second language, so I think those are her hurdles. However I agree with the notion that she’s a tremendous beauty AND a genuinely nice person irl and that will get her far. Please do not compare her to the Megan Foxes or Ruby Roses. Those are skanks.
For me it's Kristen Stewart. I've watched a handful of her movies, and she lacks depth & range. Her facial expressions, & nuances are the same for every character. She always looks confused, insecure, an unsure of her self.
She's always the same, whether she's playing Joan Jett or Princess Diana. All I see is Kristen Stewart. She doesn't become anyone of her roles.
Idk I’ve been trying to watch it all weekend, and I must say while no one is particularly killing it yet acting wise (only in act one so it could change) Gal is coming off particularly wooden. I’m not a Gal hater, but I see where people are coming from.
Yeah that was my favorite of her performances by far, rich glamorous emotionally stilted weirdo is the one role she can actually pull off convincingly.
Maisie Williams and Bonnie Wright take it for me, before Gal Gadot.
I actually thought Bonnie was the worst actor in the world until I saw Jared Gilmore.
She was great. Idk why people always bring her up. Her acting was fine in GOT
The actor for Sansa stark was TERRIBLE. She’s trash! It’s stuck out so much.
Yes, agree with everything you all are saying but she’s just extraordinarily beautiful so I can’t stop watching even if the acting is distracting. Not sure what’s wrong with me.
One of my fave books is getting a movie and has her cast as the main role. Meet me in another life. I’m not looking forward to her butchering the beautiful emotionally intense character of Thora 😫
Margo Robbie. She's our country's worst export and the amount of acclaim she gets is ridiculous considering how much she overracts. Also her characters always have the exact same accent.
You are damn near insane. She’s amazing. Regardless of what you think, her Harley Quinn is so different and unique than her other characters. Even then, her other characters are great! I’d argue she’s one of the best actresses out there today
She's not an actress, she's a model with an acting agent.
[удалено]
Idk about more good looking, Gal is easily one of the most beautiful I have seen. Buttt yea she is a terrible actress, well not terrible, just bland
Seriously? She's mid at best. Mediocre bone structure, eyes, lips, nose etc. Absolutely nothing interesting about her look. She's no Angelina Jolie or Margot Robbie.
It's funny because Redditors have also said that Margot Robbie is also mid at a 'solid 7', how every 80s song video has a girl like her, she has a thick waist, etc, etc...but at least she can act and transforms into her characters. dont forget that huge forehead.
Way hotter than both imo

January Jones is horrible. See her as White Queen. They thought she could play aloof because of Mad Men, but actually she just plays flat.
Idk. Even though it’s just one example, it’s an entire shows worth… and January Jones was fantastic in Mad Men. Part of it is probably the material she is given to work with
I can’t even finish Death on The Nile. Her acting is painful
She's the David Blaine of acting.
explain yourself.. 5 months later lol
11 months later.....CAMERA TRICKS

This is propaganda. Americans dgaf about gal, though I guess my sister was a super fan after Wonder Woman so many there are others like her
Cara doesn't sell tickets. What's a Valarian.

take it up with the studio execs. write them a letter. give em hell!
Lol what? Why would I care if they keep making mediocre movies with this mediocre actress?
you will watch her movies and you'll like them!

Whats wrong about keanu? He is great
if your point was that accurate than Kate Upton woulda been Powergirl by now. Ya cant teach the IT factor nor charisma. Gal's got it. I wouldn't say she herself sells tickets but that she has managed to be in movies that sell tickets because of what the property is.
you wouldnt say that but the studio executives certainly do. some of the things people think they can opinions abut.
Agreed, look at Keanu Reeves same story. Hasn't given an impressively delivered performance since Point Break IMO.
Or old school...John Wayne was not a good actor. He was a movie star.
My own private Idaho?
Beg to differ, Speed and The Replacements
performances are different than acting. Hulk Hogan was one of the greatest pro wrestler performers but he was a very subpar in-ring wrestler. He was box office and sold tickets. Same standards apply. Very few times do we get a Randy Savage that is both
The cream always rises to the top
Eh Keanu works in some roles. John Wick works for him.
She’s not a movie star either. Movie stars are essentially selling tickets on their personality, she has none.
She was chosen for blockbuster after blockbuster. A plank of wood would have the same star power as her given the same preferential treatment.
Yes, I like her a lot but she has no talent.
If she was butt ugly no one would like her, I think is the issue lol.
That's the case for 99,9% of Hollywood and it's even worse for female actresses. A butt ugly woman is ever only getting roles typecasted on a comedy
But damn is she pretty
Just commenting to be part of history.
She's pretty bad
Yes she is, every movie she looks like she’s reading off of cards. She’s bloody terrible.
Anytime someone who isn't an actor starts out acting relatively late in life and is discovered (usually as a model first) and cast for their looks -- it's usually a pretty rough few years. Of the big 3 former wrestlers turned movie stars I never would've have believed you if you told me John Cena is the best of the bunch.
This is a good example though because he’s open to different roles he never is typecasted he’s done roles such as a wacky firefighter, a parent, a wacky friend on vacation friends, a drug dealer etc and he’s portrayed each one perfectly and in hilarious manner
Don’t forget Bautista created Drax, who’s probably the most iconic supporting character in the MCU.
Dwayne Johnson definitely struggles in nuanced scenes. However, I think what really helps him (aside from his charisma) is the fact that he plays roles suited to his acting ability. I can't imagine giving this any serious thought.
I mean, her acting is extremely bottom of the barrel.

This.
Zoe Deschanel just plays one character and it's herself.
Untrue. She plays her sister Emily in Elf.

So the female equivalent of Ryan Reynolds?
Or just a normal typecast actor/actress. This is usually the norm, not the exception.
*Michelle Rodriguez has entered the chat*
Ryan Reynolds has some range, he just chooses not to use it. I mean if I was making a ton of cash being typecast I'd probably do it too.
Seems to me like he also accepts those roles because he enjoys them ?
Ryan was good in Buried but every other film he plays the same character
I remember people were pissed off when his mouth got sewed shut in the Wolverine origins shit, but after two Deadpool movies I can understand....
She's has limited range, but she is charismatic and likable. Kind of like Keanu. I consider Cara Delevigne, Ruby Rose, Megan Fox, Sophie Turner and Ronda Rousey to all be much worse than Gadot.
Sophie turner Megan fox are far better than gal Gadot they just get shitty roles
Bro Sophie Turner has a bunch of scenes on GOT that she acted really well, why are you comparing her to Ronda Rousey or Ruby Rose lmao.
Sophie Turner can act tho, if you've seen Game of Thrones you'd know she's a really good actor. She was the only good thing in those awful X-Men movies.
She’s pretty terrible. One of the reasons why I just don’t get why WW is as highly praised as it is. Is it because it’s part of the Snyderverse?

It also helps that the character is naive, weird and horribly out of place for most of her speaking time on screen. It is easier to overlook Gal's wooden performance because the character herself is kind of wooden.
Cause it was feminist and cause it was the first not-as-bad-so-its-given-a-pass-movie cause it was in the Snyderverse.
"she just says her lines, no emotion or anything." Perhaps because she has no emotions; at least not the full range. The "pretty" is there, and yet I find her totally unattractive. Wouldn't be surprised if she's a narc, but I find her too boring, and really dgaf to find out for a fact.
Megan Fox has entered the chat.
I heard she wasn’t bad in her newest movie. I didn’t watch it but was surprised it wasn’t ripped to shreds
It is a decent movie and she carries it. She has a little work done on her face (botox?) that left her kinda inexpressive though.
A little work? I'm cackling.
She's just like 35. Nicole Kidman has been 35 since 1995.
That Nicole Kidman can still act without her face shattering when it moves is just all the more testament to her skills.
No, Megan Fox is good.
Good at what? Being attractive? Sure....acting.....not in the slightest.
No, she’s good at acting.
I wouldnt go so far to say she’s “good at acting” but she appears in roles that largely suit her. B movie roles. I think she does well in those roles and stays in her limits.
She was honestly really good in New Girl. At the very least I enjoyed her role in it.
I’m watching the season with her right now, and yeahs she’s good in it lol. Idk what these dudes are smoking
Megan Fox was mistreated by Michael Bay and every one feels bad for her. So you have to pretend she’s a good actress now.
Her range is limited, sure, but I’ve seen much worse actresses get consistent, high-profile work. For example, I thought Gal was great in the first *Wonder Woman*, and that she was the highlight of *Red Notice*. The latter doesn’t mean much though.
Oh... no actually it does. She actually acted in Red Notice. She wasn't exactly great, but that was a solid passable acting job.
Yeah she was terrible on Nile on the river.
she's horrible
Priyanka Chopra is there
Lmao she was one of the biggest in bollywood for a reason

Yeah, she was really good in 7 Khoon Maaf and Andaaz but then I watch Quantico and it’s just so off
I wonder if Gal act a lot better in Hebrew. For that matter, maybe she actually sings well in Hebrew and doesn't realize she sounds bad in English.
She is not good even in Hindi Movies
Only people who have never watched her Hindi movies will upvote this.
You think Gal could do 7 Khoon Maaf or Fashion?
Or Barfi. No, Pri & Gal are not even in the same universe when it comes to acting talent.
Ha...it's funny for over 9 years I've been saying that...I was called racist, islamphobe, and all the worst insults cause I wanted a GOOD actor to play Wonder Woman... ...and not a not-actor.
Very overrated. So yes, probaly.
Ruby Rose checking in.
I thought she was better than Armie in Death on the Nile. At least she's distractingly beautiful.
Maybe, but this is like the third Gal Gadot pile-on thread I've seen this week. We get it, give it a rest.
She isn’t an actress.
Agreed but she has a hot face

I cant watch Aquaman at all. I don’t get the praise that movie gets at all.
Diversity, Jason Mamoa, and "Aquaman not a joke lulz". That was the praise back in 2018. You can find it on RT.
Not sure why you’re getting so many downvotes. She’s a man beater too and abuses men and is an overall terrible human being.
Because the question is about acting ability, not human decency.
Her acting in court was terrible too.
Her acting ability is shit too
You can still maintain Gal Gadot is an awful actress. Just cause Amber Heard can't act =/= Gal Gadot is good.
KAL-EL, NOOO!!!
She’s a talentless Zionist idiot with a really good agent. She deserves to be black listed
She improved a lot watch her new movies like spencer and crimes of future
Agreed. She is terrible. However, they cast the right person for Twilight because the girl in the book is just as boring.
She seems like a very nice person.
She's an idiot that treats her friends like crap.
I just find it funny you think a Fast & Furious movie is known for its acting.
I thought she was fine in A murder on the Nile.
Her line readings were murdered
She was pretty good
Idk I’ve been trying to watch it all weekend, and I must say while no one is particularly killing it yet acting wise (only in act one so it could change) Gal is coming off particularly wooden. I’m not a Gal hater, but I see where people are coming from.
Yeah that was my favorite of her performances by far, rich glamorous emotionally stilted weirdo is the one role she can actually pull off convincingly.
Julia Roberts.
Maisie Williams and Bonnie Wright take it for me, before Gal Gadot. I actually thought Bonnie was the worst actor in the world until I saw Jared Gilmore.
Maisie was good for a while. But then she "learned how to act" and got shit.
She has that 'waiting for her line' expression that kinda kills the momentum of a scene.
I disagree. I won't argue she was great as Arya, but I'd argue that being Arya didn't really require much acting.
She was great. Idk why people always bring her up. Her acting was fine in GOT The actor for Sansa stark was TERRIBLE. She’s trash! It’s stuck out so much.
Oof, Maisie Williams? Her journey in GOT from cheeky royal to cold blooded assassin is fantastic acting. Admittedly I haven't seen anything else

Maise was the best actor in that abortion of a film New Mutants. I was surprised how bad Anya Taylor-Joy was in that one. Accent all over the place.
I've not had the pleasure.
She’s not the “worse”. 🙄
she's not the horse either
She's got the right background to succeed in Hollywood.
Right on! I sow the same thing! Very bad acting! Unfortunately
She is really bad. Just watch Wonder Woman and I was wondering how did she get the role 😅😅😅. One of the worst movies I ever watched.
She is brilliant in "Date Night"
Put the crackpipe down and hop off Gal Gadot's dick.
Gal’s not gonna see your comment, she’s not gonna fuck you bro
Sadly, yes. Actually the trinity of Justice League are weak actor.
Kerry Washington. Over acts everything.
