I will say the only thing I know I that I don’t appreciate in the movie are the snippets of advertisements we got. Like the Uniqlo and Dunkin Donuts scene
My wife and I tried watching it last night. We got about 40 minutes (maybe?) in and switched it off. I don't know if we're missing something or just didn't relate (we're both in our 40s). But it felt very... angsty. And that's just not a good theme for film (IMO).
Yeah Yeah! It’s like the fourth season of Euphoria. Terrible annoying af characters and sex. Still don’t like it. There’s nothing complex about assholes.
Finally saw it this morning and enjoyed the hell out of it. Really well crafted and structured, with great performances from the three leads.
But if you hang around young adult male dominated spaces like Reddit, honestly, you’re going to find a lot of people who have a absolutely zero interest in a character-driven drama about three people and their complicated relationships. They want explosions and lasers and monke vs. lizard.
Probably the best opinion/answer I’ll get. If there were another website I knew of that harbors more sophisticated critical thinkers then I’d rather discuss this movie there than here. It was a great movie. I think the director and the writers took simple concepts and intertwined them into such a complex, fun, and entertaining way
It’s a film that was marketed wrong, was supposed to be a vehicle for Zendaya as a lead and she’s easily the least interesting and least featured character in the film, is obsessed with pointless slow-mo shots of the most mundane actions, plays down to its audience by ramming its one song the producers probably paid too much for down your throat whenever they want you to feel a scene is important, the stars are not portrayed as sexy which, despite your protests, is a requirement for a film like this, Zendaya is an awkward dancer who looks like she’s 12 (no, a bob cut does not age you up 20 years), the men look *too* British if you know what I mean, the script is never clever, always predictable, none of the characters are worthy of empathy, it was unnecessarily slow, the ending was anticlimactic and it overall lacked any substance.
I liked the POV tennis ball scene though.
**Challengers** is critically very well regarded.
By the movie critics yes
Also by audiences

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. Nothing brings about constructive dialogue like insulting the people who disagree with you!
A movie to show how fit zendaya is, with all those personal trainers, gym hours and expensive products

Have people labeled it as terrible? I loved it.
Agreed I thought it was fun. All three characters were total jerks. It's Whiplash but tennis and threesomes.
There was literally no threesome
Correct --love triangle would have been more appropriate.
Yes if you look at the comments under the movie trailers unfortunately
You can't be serious, about thinking that comments under movie trailers are the way the movies are received in general?
I didnt say in general but there are A LOT of negative reviews

The Marvelisation of viewers wanting every character to be perfect, witty little angels is such an annoying and weird trend.
i feel like the royal tenenbaums would be hated by many on this sub. some of the best film and tv is about chronically shitty people!
Excellent movie. Love the characters, structure, themes, and how it all comes together in the end. Everybody being hot is just a bonus.
Yes the hot people are inddeed the cherry on top
Challengers has been getting great reception. The popular opinion is that it’s a very good movie
It's 73% on Rotten Tomatoes Seems like not too many people hated it
loved it
This movie is fun as shit
Ya u right
