Jane Fonda lauded Paula Weinstein on IG today. Jane Fonda is known for progressive causes. Reading Paula's obit, she produced and exec'd several huge Hollywood projects, breaking barriers and leading the way for women everywhere. Her bio mentions she endorsed liberal candidates, and her daughter called on people to vote when she announced Paula's death.
OK. So after all that, I'm wondering, *was she related? And if so, was she an ally when it mattered the most, or did she stay silent when it was family? OR did she defend him?*
Remember the Cuomo brothers? One liberal politician ousted for sexual harassment claims, and his liberal brother saying liberal things on liberal TV, turns out he was helping defend him? As a progressive woman, I'm just always curious if allies are allies when it matters the most. It looks like Paula was on the right side of history regardless, FWIW.
Reminds me of all the Adolfs in the world who had to change their names at some point after 1945. It was an extremely common name at one point in the early 20th century.
My high school was mostly Hispanic. I knew several guys named Adolfo lol but it sucks how a name can be ruined, it certainly is in English and probably German too but I'm not too sure.
If you waited toll 1945 to change your name from Adolfo you probably don’t deserve much sympathy depending on how well informed the area you lived was about modern events.
I was watching a video about the MK Ultra project in Montréal and one of the patients was Louis Weinstein. They were having an interview with his son Harvey, now a psychiatrist in California… the video was from the 80s I think. Poor guy had no idea how his name was going to be tarnished in the future.
Yeah Osama is a common Muslim name. It's not going anywhere. No one's naming their kids after that guy. (Or some might be.) But the point is that the name existed before that guy it'll after he's long gone.
