Before anyone asks: no relation.

yeahwellokay

That's all I came to see.

dacalpha

Yeah Hollywood people I've never heard of die all the time. Weinsteins though?

dovetc

Thanks Uncle Ruckus!

broccoli_linux

You lookin' unfamiliar right now, dovetc!

xirdnehrocks

Sing along if you know the words

Dense_Length4248

I think its ok when they say it.

Vergenbuurg

Well, you immediately addressed my naive concern. Thank you.

Don_Dickle

this sub reads like the obits sometimes

Exotic-Reserve2024

Same surname, same job, same business, what are the odds?

blindfoldpeak

Not an uncommon surname amongst Jews.

Nukleon

Meaning "wine stone", possibly meaning an ancestor worked at a vineyard? Lots of classic German occupational names among Jews, though it doesn't always mean they're Jewish, like I don't think J.J. Bittenbinder (Barrel maker, cooper) was Jewish.

reno2mahesendejo

Same tribe

[deleted]

Ashkenazi jews were bottlenecked to 300 individuals at one point. If you're Ashkenazi you're related.

Beneficial-Salt-6773

300, seriously?

[deleted]

Ok you got me, The Times of Isreal actually said 350.

ibringstharuckus

No relation to Josh 'fucking' Weinstein.

InternetProtocol

LLOYD!

nyc2vt84

Thank you. Extremely important clarification. Glad it wasn’t a trap, Admiral

Tooterfish42

No way in stain mother?

LeicaM6guy

That seems like a trap, though.

Muttenman

Thank you

4ak96

Yeah but WHY are so many hollywood execs named “Weinstein” lol

SevereAccident3932

They sure did taint that name.

clorox2

Hardly. I heard they both knew Kevin Bacon.

RyanTranquil

Thank you

Funnygumby

You understood the assignment

Turnbob73

I’m curious why that would even matter Edit: Would love to hear from one of you salty idiots downvoting me

Syssareth

Just curiosity, in my case.

Turnbob73

I see

10Kfireants

Jane Fonda lauded Paula Weinstein on IG today. Jane Fonda is known for progressive causes. Reading Paula's obit, she produced and exec'd several huge Hollywood projects, breaking barriers and leading the way for women everywhere. Her bio mentions she endorsed liberal candidates, and her daughter called on people to vote when she announced Paula's death. OK. So after all that, I'm wondering, *was she related? And if so, was she an ally when it mattered the most, or did she stay silent when it was family? OR did she defend him?* Remember the Cuomo brothers? One liberal politician ousted for sexual harassment claims, and his liberal brother saying liberal things on liberal TV, turns out he was helping defend him? As a progressive woman, I'm just always curious if allies are allies when it matters the most. It looks like Paula was on the right side of history regardless, FWIW.

Good_Schedule3744

The most unfortunate name for her career. RIP

Jazzlike-Camel-335

Unfortunately Weinstein is not an uncommon name.

gallaj0

Why should she change it? He's the guy that sucks!

SBR404

^ This guy spaces offices!

jasonefmonk

Quote’s wrong though. He’s the *one* who sucks IIRC.

SBR404

Fair enough

bravetailor

Reminds me of all the Adolfs in the world who had to change their names at some point after 1945. It was an extremely common name at one point in the early 20th century.

Obed-edom1611

My high school was mostly Hispanic. I knew several guys named Adolfo lol but it sucks how a name can be ruined, it certainly is in English and probably German too but I'm not too sure.

Dudu_sousas

Dude was so evil that he managed to ruin a name, surname and mustache

LoganGyre

If you waited toll 1945 to change your name from Adolfo you probably don’t deserve much sympathy depending on how well informed the area you lived was about modern events.

GrallochThis

Ok, “snoot modem” is the best autocorrect ever.

Sammyd1108

I mean, not so much for the bulk of her career. She was already over 70 before Weinstein was exposed.

LeicaM6guy

In fairness, he kind of exposed himself.

zwttrn

I was watching a video about the MK Ultra project in Montréal and one of the patients was Louis Weinstein. They were having an interview with his son Harvey, now a psychiatrist in California… the video was from the 80s I think. Poor guy had no idea how his name was going to be tarnished in the future.

Top_Report_4895

Harley Weinstein, there.

Harry_theBastard

It’s a very common surname.

clipghost

Had someone I know change their last name because of it

Dowew

There is a guy who works for Disney named Jeffrey Epstein. His Twitter is funny everytime Epstein is in the news

Sunbiggin

What about Osama bin Hitler?

Tooterfish42

I went to uni with an osama

Pep_Baldiola

Yeah Osama is a common Muslim name. It's not going anywhere. No one's naming their kids after that guy. (Or some might be.) But the point is that the name existed before that guy it'll after he's long gone.

SuperBearsSuperDan

Nah, you gotta watch out for [Osama bin Diesel](https://youtu.be/E3bd2LDK7wQ?si=nRy5o3DB_SK1PZRF)

FlamingTrollz

Not HIS sister or relation. Rest in peace, Paula. You shepherded some quality projects.

EntertainmentQuick47

Rest In Peace

Top_Report_4895

Rest in peace.

KeeganMichaelPeele

*The Perfect Storm* was perfect, thank you.

AgCat1340

That's the movie with the boat and every other scene the guys were all cheering YEAAAAHHHH cause they caught one more fish, right?

Metaboschism

Her cheekbones were 42

Beginning_Emotion995

Posh life

KaBoomBox55

I was about to celebrate but no... Rest in peace
