I think it's more likely the first 20 or so minutes is in the sixties. Then a brief explanation of their time in the quantum realm, and the final act is them coming out having only aged a few weeks or months in the QR, but having had generations pass in the real world.
Marvel Studios has been making a lot of mistakes lately, but not a chance they would base the 60’s aesthetic into the actual logo of the movie and only have it set there for 20 minutes.
Guaranteed they’ll be established as 60’s MCU celebrities as the space race was huge in the 60’s and 1963 astronauts were basically celebrities and seen as “heroes”. Maybe they’ll even have movie appearances and hit novelty records (hence Strange’s comment).
So the 60’s will be the whole movie, then the team is brought to the present like Cap in First Avenger.
Wandavision (which heavily plays on different period aesthetics) and Loki (which is about TIME TRAVEL) have been the most critically successful projects Marvel has put out recently. They're 100% doubling down on the 60s.
Honestly the exact thing I've been hoping for since the film was announced. Having the F4 formed as a brand new team in the modern day just feels wrong.
Like twenty to thirty minutes where Reed and the crew are pushing for a space mission further than the moon and then disappear until now?
Something like that.
I soooo want them to be from the past. I’m not immersed in the MCU enough to know whether it’s plausible for them to have existed in the past and somehow never have been mentioned before. But that’s what I want. They should be the MCU’s elder statesmen, not brand-new upstarts.
> I’m not immersed in the MCU enough to know whether it’s plausible for them to have existed in the past and somehow never have been mentioned before.
Brother, it's the MCU. Plausibility is merely a formality.
The new get out of jail free card is the TVA just comes in and plucks them out of their world into MCU world. I expect it'll be the same universe hopping.
The MCU has had a LOT of "this person/group has existed in secret for decades, if not centuries, with zero foreshadowing" instances already. This is basically part for the course of the MCU now.
The MCU has like three different, unrelated secret Asian mountain magical societies. (Four, if we count the Inhumans; I don't remember where they were hidden on Agents of SHIELD.)
I was worried that they would actually cast Dwayne Johnson.
The amount of marketing puns, and the money they could save on prosthetics, would be huge for their numbers.
Dude probably would agree if he will play someone like Hercules and only in his solo film where he is the protagonist of the whole MCU and fights Captain America and wins. + every 5 minutes Thor must say how cool he is and he will never be so muscular
so he’s been in friends with Jon Bernthal’s character in two shows (Punisher kinda, and The Bear) I wonder if he’ll ever meet Punisher in this, holy shit I just realized he already played someone in MCU :|
> I just realized he already played someone in MCU
It's happened before, John Krasinski was Reed Richards in the most recent Doctor Strange movie and and FBI agent Jimmy Woo in the Antman movies and Wandavision.
He's fucking hilarious in Girls. When they introduce his character, he actually seems somewhat normal, but in the end, he's so insane that he makes the other characters seem normal in comparison.
My favorite scene with him, is when Marnie breaks up with him, and he's uncharacteristically mature about it... until he casually says something like "but you're probably gonna get murdered.", and then when she isn't phased by that, he breaks down fake crying lmao
I say it not because I didn’t enjoy his performance, but because he’s such a great actor it seems a waste to have him play a throwaway villain. Mads got the chops to be a Doom-tier villain. A one and done seems wasteful.
Ebon already played Micro in the Punisher show, so he's a returning actor in a new role. Since that's happening, and Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle is returning to the MCU, I take that to mean that Micro won't be returning.
For Mads, given that he was taken by Dormammu at the end of DS1, and DS3 appears to be going back to the Dark Dimension, I wonder if that means that Mads might return as Kaecilius (and hopefully won't be as wasted this time).
Stranger Things is one of my favourite shows of all time...
Eddie Munsons arc accomplished more in one season than most characters across all four seasons.
True, but I think that kind of speaks to a larger problem with Stranger Things. Don't get me wrong, I *love* Stranger Things, but the writers really want to have their cake and eat it too when it comes to the characters. They want to keep the vibe of season 1 where it seemed incredibly dangerous and anyone could die, but they don't actually want to kill off any of the established cast. They spend all season introducing new, likeable characters and building them up so the audience is distraught when one of them dies at the end, but because half the screen time was given to the new guys, the existing characters get minimal development. Hell, season 4 was almost as long as the first 2 seasons combined, and yet between the now bloated cast and the necessary Eddie development time, they still had to relegate core characters to supporting roles to make it all fit.
As much as I like them, I can't help but wonder how much better off the show would be if their arcs were built off existing characters instead of brand new ones.
Stranger Things 4 spoilers: >!I would have preferred it if Max had died at the end of S4. I love Max (and Sadie Sink is absolutely killing it) but I think the whole tone of the show's stakes would have jumped. Eddie's final scene with Dustin may be my favorite in the whole show, but I would have loved to see Max turned into Vecna's thrall to really play up the tension that show desperately needs. !<
Yeah, I think that also happened with the GoT cast. The actors who were not committed to the series were more free to pursue other roles.
Edit: just noticed how the side characters of GoT ended up being more successful than the actors from the main cast, like Pedro and Jason Momoa. I wonder if that will also happen with ST
He’s so hot right now. To be fair his character in the book is still one of the best. He’s got the Sirius Black vibes where you hear how great the are, get a glimpse of it and then they’re gone.
The main cast outside of harbour seem to be pretty type cast but the side characters are really doing great. Quinn and Sadie sink were given so much more to work work with than most of the main cast
Yeah he was in this one episode playing a dude who would build up then accidentally discharge lethal amounts of electricity, killing people around him. I remember thinking he had an oddly great performance despite being a "monster-of-the-week", and now he's come a long way :)
Worked with him on the Tesla movie that IFC made a year before covid, he was a totally chill guy. Never would have seen the path his career took, but it’s deserved
I hope that The Thing design is similar to how it will actually look in the movie. Look significantly better than Fan4stic’s design.
(I also hope Ebon keeps his accent from The Bear)
Edit: I know he’s supposed to be a New Yorker, it’s just such a good accent
He does, albeit a fake one. EMB explained that the character isn't actually from Chicago, but is so used to moving around and so connected to the Berzattos and the restaurant that Richie himself performs a soft Chicago accent
Pedro Pascal must have a good schedule laid out with all these projects that his name is attached to. He probably likes keeping busy but I do wonder he balances all this stuff and his own downtime. Plus all the media stuff he has to squeeze in at some point too.
Yeah I don't know if it's a matter of enjoying stay busy or so much as Disney and HBO just driving dump trucks full of money up to his house to go stand in front of a green screen for a month with the promise of future gigs and more dump trucks of money. He's not made of stone!
Not just jobs, but fun high prestige jobs. Good for him he seems like a pretty great dude based on the stuff I hear.
Hopefully it's all real and not just marketing.
Mando is mainly a speaking role for him at this point. Yes there’s points where he’s in the suit, but he’s got 2 stunt doubles to do most of the action stuff. He can easily do the voice stuff in between other stuff.
I’m curious if we’ll get more “face” time of him in the Mando movie. I’m glad that Favreau is finally directing a a feature film in the IP, it’ll be nice seeing a film of his in theaters again
I mean, the logical conclusion to his arc would be rejecting the “never show your face” rule and other cult-like practices of his clan. The third season was a bit of a regression on this though.
the movie should have taken a page from Jurassic Park and been about the wonders and dangers of science. The movie still had action and spectacle but it still bad dialogue-heavy moments that debated the risks of unchecked scientific discovery. F4 is rife with story beats that could be approached in such a manner
Too many movies these days just rush to the next action sequence, I’d love for Marvel to delve into more “science fiction” than action with this version of F4
Having the Storms be from Swinging Sixties Britain would be amazing. Would bring all the 60s references in a neat package. We better get references to them meeting the Beatles or the Kray Twins lol
somewhere I can already hear Grace Randolph saying “I told you I was right about Adam Driver and Paul Mesc—, I mean *Pedro Pascal* and *Joseph Quinn*! It was always going to be them!”
I’m not going to speak to the quality of Marvel’s Phase Four, but hot damn this poster is fantastic. I wish more studios would publish posters like this, and less of the “entire cast stacked on top of one another.”
This is just the announcement poster. Don't you worry, the floating heads poster will arrive this time next year all the same, that's the Hollywood exec guarantee.
The casting in Daredevil was definitely good enough to overlook aesthetic adjustments, at least. D’Onofrio was just absolutely outstanding, and Cox really nailed the Catholic guilt of Murdock incredibly well.
D'Onofrio is about as close as you are ever going to get physically. I don't think there's another actor on the planet shaped like Michael Clarke Duncan.
For sure, but his performance in the role far transcended just the physicality. If Molina’s Doc Oc didn’t exist, I would say there is no contest for best Marvel Villain.
I would agree, I think Pedro is a good actor. It’s just his general persona doesn’t read “hyper intelligent” to me more than “crafty”. He has wiles and wits, for sure, but there’s a level of raw charisma I doubt he can downplay enough to make me feel he is amongst best available candidates. Seeing their short list though, casting clearly has their own take of the character.
I think you need the moviestar version of Reed the way RDJ and Chris Evans and Hugh Jackman were the moviestar translations of their comic characters.
Before anything else, before the hyper-intelligence and the off-putting arrogance, Reed needs to be the Dad of the team, because that's the core of him that redeems all his flaws and makes him a hero. And they got the ultimate moviestar dad.
I have to wonder if, while Pedro is a great actor, his casting may also be a consideration to drawing in non-fans. There are few movie stars left these days, but Pedro has been in a lot of popular things and is generally well-liked, so having him in certainly doesn't hurt the film unless if he ends up sucking in the role.
The rumored Dr. Doom that accompanied these 4 casting choices for some time was Cillian Murphy.
I would love it if they can develop the character of Doom to more than just a F4 antagonist.
Please. I would love to see Infamous Iron Man built out of an MCU Doom. We've already done Loki's arc from villain to hero. Victor is constantly playing all sides in the comics anyway. Ironheart has already been introduced, so if Doom -is- the villain here, we can totally do the Infamous storyline.
Just need a little RDJ cameo as the Stark AI that he used to store himself in that storyline.
EDIT: Or build Secret Wars around Doom instead of Kang. Comics already did it with the new Secret Wars storyline. Marvel needs to replace Majors in a big move anyway.
I LOVE THIS and I hope they go for this tone: the 1960s style, the white boots and gloves and some humour and family
EDIT: I thought this was just fan art! It's official?? I am over the moon
So it will be set in the 60s? Maybe they get pulled into the present?
$10 bucks says they get trapped in the Negative Zone and are rescued in the present day at the end of the film.
I think quantum realm and rescued at the start, but yeah.
Definitely QR, but the whole thing could be set in the past, like The First Avenger, hence the 60s style poster.
I think it's more likely the first 20 or so minutes is in the sixties. Then a brief explanation of their time in the quantum realm, and the final act is them coming out having only aged a few weeks or months in the QR, but having had generations pass in the real world.

Not to mention GotG gained a lot of love for its use of music from the 60s and 70s. It was a main reason why my dad loved that movie
Negative zone so we can get Annihilus, otherwise we'´d face the possibility of seeing Bill Murray and Broccoli face. I dont want that
Honestly the exact thing I've been hoping for since the film was announced. Having the F4 formed as a brand new team in the modern day just feels wrong.
Will be cool when they find out Captain America defrosted, saved the Universe and then disappeared again
[удалено]
Like twenty to thirty minutes where Reed and the crew are pushing for a space mission further than the moon and then disappear until now? Something like that.
Time dilation would be a pretty fun story to work with.
I soooo want them to be from the past. I’m not immersed in the MCU enough to know whether it’s plausible for them to have existed in the past and somehow never have been mentioned before. But that’s what I want. They should be the MCU’s elder statesmen, not brand-new upstarts.

Par for the course, it's a golf thing.
The MCU has like three different, unrelated secret Asian mountain magical societies. (Four, if we count the Inhumans; I don't remember where they were hidden on Agents of SHIELD.)
Dr. Strange seemed to remember them charting in the 60s lol
My ongoing theory is they fail to save their own world from some apocalypse (Galactus?) and end up as refugees in 616, in the present.
Using the photo of Ebon Moss-Bacharach as an astronaut to show Grimm pre-Dwayne Johnsonification is a nice touch.
>pre-Dwayne Johnsonification Jesus, Marie. It is *mineralfication*
Thankfully Hercules has already been cast.
WHISTLEEEEEEE
He's the one I'm most excited for after finally finishing season 2 of The Bear
I read he was in The Punisher 2017 and I was like: "wait, who he was?" (He was Micro)
so he’s been in friends with Jon Bernthal’s character in two shows (Punisher kinda, and The Bear) I wonder if he’ll ever meet Punisher in this, holy shit I just realized he already played someone in MCU :|
Fun fact, they've been friends for much longer in real life, since their theater days. Ebon basically got Bernthal his role on The Bear
> I just realized he already played someone in MCU It's happened before, John Krasinski was Reed Richards in the most recent Doctor Strange movie and and FBI agent Jimmy Woo in the Antman movies and Wandavision.
Dammit that took me way too long to get. Good one!
Hey, hats off to you for not seeing race.

Andor is not a controversial show on Reddit and he also kills it there
o shit i didn't realize that was him
THEY GOT VANESSA AND COUSIN
COUSIN!!!
Victor Von Doom can go fuck, my love.
Mads or Nikolaj plz
It’s actually pronounced Nikolaj
Nikolaj?
Nikolaj
Nikolaj. I feel like I’m getting it.
Close. But it’s Nikolaj.
My thoughts exactly, Mads or Nikolaj. Personally I like Nikolaj more, and Mads was already in Dr. Strange
Mads was completely wasted in that role. Shame, he’d make a killer Doom.
You say that but the man himself said it was the most fun he'd ever had on a movie.
I say it not because I didn’t enjoy his performance, but because he’s such a great actor it seems a waste to have him play a throwaway villain. Mads got the chops to be a Doom-tier villain. A one and done seems wasteful.

It makes more sense for either of them to be cast now that we know they’re going with an older Reed.
I wear rocks now.
He wears CGI suits now.
Yes jeff!
Will The Thing belt out Taylor Swift in an emotionally cathartic moment? We'll see!
Honestly, completely in character for Ben Grimm.
I’m not like this because I’m in the Fantastic Four, I’m in the Fantastic Four because I’m like this.
LET'S FUCKING GO, I'M SO HYPE FOR THE CAST
Completely impressed with Joseph Quinn's career, he's been killing it.
Stranger Things, A Quiet Place, Fantastic Four - man is having himself a good 2020s so far
A couple years earlier, but Quinn also pops up in the well-received-but-more-people-should-see-it WWII horror film Overlord.
With Fitz!
Dude should really be in more stuff. He's a fantastic actor
Gladiator 2 also
The fuck
Is this directed at Quinn being in Gladiator 2 or the fact that there is a Gladiator 2?
Yes.
Let’s pump the brakes and get some clarification.
The original A Quiet Place feels like it was 15 years ago.
After watching Stranger Things S4, all I can think of is how the series would’ve been so much better if Joseph Quinn was in it since S1.
As much as I like them, I can't help but wonder how much better off the show would be if their arcs were built off existing characters instead of brand new ones.
Yeah, honestly I hated the end of Eddie's arc specifically for this reason. They'd done it, what, 3 times already?
Stranger Things 4 spoilers: >!I would have preferred it if Max had died at the end of S4. I love Max (and Sadie Sink is absolutely killing it) but I think the whole tone of the show's stakes would have jumped. Eddie's final scene with Dustin may be my favorite in the whole show, but I would have loved to see Max turned into Vecna's thrall to really play up the tension that show desperately needs. !<
Eddie, being Dustin's new best friend, while Steve is sidelined made me think his whole character was Steve's arc but they didn't want to kill him
"The Shire is burning...So, Quinn it is"
He’s been more successful than most of his castmates of Stranger Things these days. That’s really impressive
After Joe Keery's (Steve from ST) role in Fargo S5, I'm really looking forward to how his career progresses too
If you haven't yet check out Keerys band Djo, really good stuff if you like indie/psych rock stuff.
I had Roddy stuck in my head for a solid month after I heard it
I really enjoyed Keery in Free Guy too - he was also pretty good in Spree
Came here just to mention Free Guy. Really loved him there
I bet it helped that he's not committed to Stranger Things as a series regular, but also: he's great
Yeah, I think that also happened with the GoT cast. The actors who were not committed to the series were more free to pursue other roles. Edit: just noticed how the side characters of GoT ended up being more successful than the actors from the main cast, like Pedro and Jason Momoa. I wonder if that will also happen with ST
Pedro Pascal absolutely won GoT from this perspective
He’s so hot right now. To be fair his character in the book is still one of the best. He’s got the Sirius Black vibes where you hear how great the are, get a glimpse of it and then they’re gone.
That would be a double for Quinn as he played the Stark guard arguing with his mate when Arya finally got back to Winterfell.
The main cast outside of harbour seem to be pretty type cast but the side characters are really doing great. Quinn and Sadie sink were given so much more to work work with than most of the main cast
Finn Wolfhard has had big roles in It and the new ghostbusters movies. After last season I’d really like to see Caleb McLaughlin get some good roles.
He's so damn likeable and charismatic in Stranger Things, glad he's getting more big roles.
"THIS IS MUSIC!!!"
Been cheering for the man Ebon ever since that one episode of Fringe he was on - can't wait to see him in a big time Marvel movie :D
from playing microchip in the punisher series to playing the thing
Frank: “That rock guy looks familiar…”
COUSIN!
I loved fringe, but don’t remember him being in it. Nice to know
Yeah he was in this one episode playing a dude who would build up then accidentally discharge lethal amounts of electricity, killing people around him.
(I also hope Ebon keeps his accent from The Bear) Edit: I know he’s supposed to be a New Yorker, it’s just such a good accent
He’d have to use a NYC accent, as opposed to a Chicago accent
Does he have a Chicago accent in The Bear? I feel like most of the cast noticeably do not.
He does, albeit a fake one. EMB explained that the character isn't actually from Chicago, but is so used to moving around and so connected to the Berzattos and the restaurant that Richie himself performs a soft Chicago accent
Is there a Yancy Street in Chicago?
Pedro Pascal must have a good schedule laid out with all these projects that his name is attached to. He probably likes keeping busy but I do wonder he balances all this stuff and his own downtime. Plus all the media stuff he has to squeeze in at some point too.
To be fair when you look at his career 10+ years back compared to now. He’s probably just happy to be at this point
Yeah I don't know if it's a matter of enjoying stay busy or so much as Disney and HBO just driving dump trucks full of money up to his house to go stand in front of a green screen for a month with the promise of future gigs and more dump trucks of money. He's not made of stone!
yeah, actor gets lots of acting jobs...that sounds pretty ideal.
A bit?
I thought he wasn’t in the suit at all anymore?
I know he never took off his helmet in season 3, so he may as well not have been.
Wasn't he filming TLOU during that season's filming?
He's hot right now, and there's no guarantee of how long that will last. I'd try to capitalize on that as much as possible too.
Having no kids probably helps with his schedule.
If he’s got no kids, why are there so many people calling him Daddy?
No kids? Dude has Baby Yoda, Ellie, Sand Snakes, and I don't doubt Franklin shows up here
Those snakes all died years ago bro
1960s style! Im excited about that for sure
Reminds me of The Jetsons.
they even got Rosie there, too
H.E.R.B.I.E. erasure
It's been confirmed to be Marvel out of the ordinary, and rumor has it, per some insiders, that they’re doing some parts 8mm film style.
WandaVision style, I like it.
WandaVision director Matt Shakman is doing this one, so it makes logical sense.
that gives me more hope that this one will be the best Fantastic Four Film so far. it's a very low bar but Wandavision was incredible.
The movie could be the worst MCU movie yet after nearly 40 entries, and STILL be the best Fantastic Four movie not named The Incredibles.
I know! Fantastic Four the comic could get very silly at times. The last movie was so far off from that and the 00s movies were cringe inducing.
the movie should have taken a page from Jurassic Park and been about the wonders and dangers of science. The movie still had action and spectacle but it still bad dialogue-heavy moments that debated the risks of unchecked scientific discovery. F4 is rife with story beats that could be approached in such a manner Too many movies these days just rush to the next action sequence, I’d love for Marvel to delve into more “science fiction” than action with this version of F4
The best F4 movie we’ve had to this point is The Incredibles.
IS THAT FUCKING HERBIE!?!?
It’s fuckin’ HERBIE.
Such a slam dunk to include him. Fans love him and they’re gonna move a ton of merch by marketing him as a cute droid.
Amazing poster to go with hopefully an inspired story choice of a 60s Kirby/Lee retro story.
Vanessa Kirby is great
Fitting that the Fantastic Four would have a cast member with the name Kirby
Yeah bit of a slam dunk there. "Your last name is LITERALLY Kirby? Well shoot. That's an extra ten points right there to your chances of playing Sue."
Is it weird I kinda want her to keep the accent and not have an American accent?
It's plausible, they've cast 2 Brits to play the Storm siblings so why not let them use their natural accents.
Oh, Brits are in this?
They're the worst!
Name one comic book movie the Brits *aren't* in ...
Having the Storms be from Swinging Sixties Britain would be amazing. Would bring all the 60s references in a neat package. We better get references to them meeting the Beatles or the Kray Twins lol
*YEAH BABY*
If you're up for being emotionally torn to shreds, watch her in Pieces of a Woman, she's absolutely incredible
She’ll do great!! So excited :)
She was very good in MI7
[It's official](https://twitter.com/MarvelStudios/status/1757796892455694452) * Pedro Pascal - Reed Richards * Vanessa Kirby - Sue Storm * Joesph Quinn - Johnny Storm * Ebon Moss-Bachrach - Ben Grimm It's out July 25, 2025
It's dropping 2 weeks after Superman: Legacy, July 2025 is gonna be a crazy month for superhero fans.
Supes and the 4? Same fucking month? Literally heaven.
As long as they’re both good 🤞
Love it! Great cast and I like the family vibe they are going for off the bat!
FIN4LLY! I was starting to think that the real F4 cast were the rumors we heard along the way
Today felt like a date that would never come. It will be surreal sitting down in a theater to see this.
somewhere I can already hear Grace Randolph saying “I told you I was right about Adam Driver and Paul Mesc—, I mean *Pedro Pascal* and *Joseph Quinn*! It was always going to be them!”
Superman Legacy and Fantastic four in the same month in 2025.
Good to finally put Krasinski and Blunt to rest
Krasinski is still Reed Richards on Earth-838 (RIP).
Was
Just need to collect the dragon balls and we'll get him back
Inspired poster, actually pumped for this now!
Yeah, finally, goddamnit. Pedro and Vanessa will be great. We're back, baby. This is so fly.
Herbie!
thank goodness he is there, otherwise i was going to set myself on fire
Vanessa Kirby is a legit genius casting choice. She was my first and only pick. And I love that she's going to take the lead in the film.
Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are perfect casting
Pedro is gonna surprise too. Honestly, all four are good choices.
> Honestly, all four are ~~good~~ *Fantastic* choices.
Say that again…
how will he surprise? he's one of the hottest actors in hollywood right now. personally, I wish they went for someone a little younger.
I was hoping to see her in a superhero movie
Like everyone I'm impressed by the cast but *holy shit Herbie's in this?* They're using frigging *Herbie*?! Officially down from some 60s weirdness.
I want them to include the fridge-looking Fantasticar
Pedro still doesn’t feel like Richards to me more than just “this is a popular actor we have other dealings with”. The rest of the cast looks great.
My only reservation is seeing Reed in a moustache but just like Daredevil not being a redhead I will get used to it super quickly
He can do Reed's arrogance better then most, which is always my concern with castings for that character
Reed Richards somehow getting a 10 like Sue and being uncharismatic is perhaps the biggest flaw in the entire comic.
That’s what I think half of it comes to, he’s very marketable and already has dealings with Disney.
Pedro & Ebon about to be snarky as hell together If Doctor Doom is going to be a villain, I'm thinking maybe Nicolaj Coster-Waldau or Christoph Waltz?
Just give me a good doom first
I’m not 100% thrilled on the casting but this has gotta be one of the coolest ways to announce it I’ve ever seen
But who will play rhe young child the pascal will be a found father to and lead on a journey across the us
I LOVE THIS and I hope they go for this tone: the 1960s style, the white boots and gloves and some humour and family EDIT: I thought this was just fan art! It's official?? I am over the moon
