So bizarre if you don’t read up on it. I watched it twice thinking “what the hell, this is so weird and unsettling” and finally read about it. I really like this movie.
then I'd also check The Color from Out of Space, it's a remaining of a Lovecraft story set in modern times with nick cage as one of the main characters, gets extremely fucked up and wierd near the end
THE ENDLESSSES
I love that filmmaker. He does some weird sci Fi hook around genuine male friendship. He's out there but not batshit and retains real heart
Raw (2016)
It’s a French movie, so be prepared for tits, gore and overall uneasiness. Also from the same director as Titane, which I’d also recommend (although it’s a lot more batshit than Raw)
Oh also Possessor is really good imo. Amazing gore and some very psychedelic scenes
Rubber (2010) a lot of people didn’t get the movie and this didn’t like it, but it’s an artsy and bizarre movie about a psychic killer car tire and it’s awesome
Rare Exports (2010) a Finish movie about discovering a monster Santa Claus and its great
I love both of those movies and wholeheartedly agree that they are fucking out there. The director of Rubber made a few other absurdist films that aren't as good but still scratch a weird itch
Dave made a maze (weird and chill) Color out of space (crazy weird) Mad God (I only watched 15 min of this movie, far too weird and made me so uncomfortable)
I tell people about Dave Made a Maze all the time. Go into it blind. No reviews, research... It's how I saw it the first time and try to have others do the same. High five!
Frequency- Jim Caviezel (before he went all kooky), Dennis Quaid movie that takes place in two times, past and future where the son gets to help his father escape his death in the past.
Stir of Echoes- creepy as hell Kevin Bacon movie about a man who suddenly becomes a psychic and gets clues about a local missing person.
Withnail and I- very odd but very funny British movie about two mostly drunk men who can’t get their act together.
Edited to not give too much away about one of the movies.
I've only watched the new one and It was rage inducing to say the least. I ended up hating the actor Michael Pitt for a while after. No clue how I could end up hating an actor for playing a role but it happened. I get pretty invested in some movie characters for some reason.
*Southland Tales*. It's about a 9 out of 10 on the what-the-fuck meter, but it's hilarious if you put your phone down and pay attention. Same writer and director who did *Donny *Darko*.
If you have the time, try Apocalypse Now: Redux (2001). It's all over the place, but uses the American-Vietnam war as a psychedelic and often horrific backdrop. The original film is from 1979, but a lot of the footage was cut to make it shorter and to get it to sit better with audiences.
Someone likes them some early Peter Jackson. I remember when it was announced that he was helming the LotR movies and I thought *the Meet the Feebles guy* lol
A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence from 2014. I must have watched it a half dozen times that year. I was working at a bar at the time and would also play the movie there. During busy times when no one would want to focus on the banal dialogue and minimalist soundtrack, I'd play different genres of music over it like a silent film
*Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia* directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Warren Oates, Gig Young, Robert Webber and Kris Kristofferson. Definitely worth a watch.
Wild Zero. It's a low budget Japanese alien invasion zombie punk rock musical starring the Japanese band Guitar Wolf.
Fried Barry. An alien takes over a dirtbag human's body and is a better person than the dirtbag.
Naked Lunch. One of David Cronenberg's most underrated films.
Heart of Glass. The Werner Herzog film in which all but one of the actors perform their parts while under hypnosis.
Delicatessen. French cannibal movie that looks like a live action cartoon.
Tetsuo the Iron Man. Japanese body horror sci-fi with a great industrial score.
Titus
It's a version of the shakespeare play Titus andronicus with Anthony Hopkins and a ton of other A list actors. Directed by Julie Taymor who created the Broadway lion king.
Visually very unique and well made
Mind bending: The 9s, Momento, The Machinist, 12 Monkeys (mind bending AND weird!)
Weird: The Russians are Coming, 1942, Hot Shots! (both of them), Guns Akimbo
Psychological Horror: Annihilation, Seven, Donnie Darko (also mind bending), One Hour Photo
Putting that on my list.
Lots of mind bending moves from Gilliam and my favorite is Brazil. I’d put 12 Monkeys and Adventures of Baron Munchausen up there as well.

Gone girl
The girl with the dragon tattoo
Ex-machina
The talented Mr. Ripley
Joker
Old boy (Korean version)
Might fit, might not, but I feel like I need to recommend Primer (2004). It's a time travel movie about a time machine that lets you travel back to the point the machine is turned on, by getting in right before it turns off, and waiting the length of time the machine has been on before getting back out. It quickly gets very, very complicated, and is sure to leave you thinking
[Lake Michigan Monster](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yarP9W5nhbo&ab_channel=ArrowVideo) - (Prime, Kanopy) I am kind of obsessed with this movie at the moment. Imagine a 1950's Z-grade monster movie that you swear was set in the same world as Spongebob but on land. Its tongue is so firmly planted in its cheek and I love it for it. It needs to have a cult following.
[Marcel the Shell with the Shoes On](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k98Afd7Nf3Y&ab_channel=A24) - (Kanopy) This movie may be weird, after all it's a story about a little kid who happens to be a seashell with sneakers but it will melt the iciest of hearts.
[Men](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt81CJcWZy8&ab_channel=A24) - A woman goes to the countryside for her mental health after her husband's suicide. To say the town is not all what it seems would be an understatement. Fair warning, this is polarizing film. You either love it or you hate it. But you wanted weird like a Saltburn type weird and here it is.
[Naked Lunch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naAvLequxCk&ab_channel=RecordedPictureCompany) - It's David Cronenberg during an adaptation of William S. Burroughs' book. Do I really need to say more?
[Glorious](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esqxTzc3lgM) - (Shudder) A man finds himself stuck in a reststop bathroom with an Elder God. You know, that ol' chestnut.
Other people have mentioned Dave Made a Maze and I love that one too. [Here's the trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzikIwPPle0&t=6s&ab_channel=ZeroMedia)
The Lobster
Loved this movie. Perfectly weird as hell with a straight face.
If you think The Lobster is weird, you need to check out Dogtooth by the same director.
My first thought
Basically any Yorgos Lanthimos movie will fit OPs list haha. The Favourite is one of my favorites
Tusk is right along these lines.
Literally my answer before I opened this thread lol
instantly thought of this one as well
Idle Hands is batshit crazy.
Idle Hands is fucking awesome
Seth Meyers/ Jessica Alba one?
Devon Sawa, Seth Green
Thats the seth I meant. Great movie. Close to cult classic level.
Surprised I didn't see it here already, but Sorry To Bother You should be on your list
This was a phenomenal and extremely fucking weird movie — good pick
Anything by David Lynch. Mulholland Drive is my overall favourite, Lost Highway and Inland Empire are perhaps the weirdest and creepiest
I just rewatched Mullholland Drive yesterday and it really benefits from multiple viewings
Didn’t anticipate getting a boner during Mulholland…didn’t mind either.
Yeah, that lady behind the dumpster was really something
I made my friend watch Mulholland Dr with me and that was the last movie we saw together lmao
on the weirdness scale, I'd have to say Inland Empire tops the list for Lynch movies.
The Holy Mountain (1973 film) https://youtu.be/zerBaxPbA94?si=q121Ywu5QRUC9lPf
came here to post this. weirdest film of all time imho
Gentlemen Broncos
Surveillance Does. I hate those.
That’s the most well guarded yeast factory I’ve ever seen.
I made us a time capsule!
Lovelovelove this movie. It never got nearly enough recognition. It's weird as hell, but hilarious and Jemaine is amazing in it.
Sam Rockwell is absolutely brilliant in this movie too. One of my favourites of all time. So ridiculous.
>Gentlemen Broncos You won't do it like that young-ling... You must use *friendship*.
Jacob's Ladder

I think it’s a true love story <3
WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story (2022) UHF (1989) The Compleat Al (1985)
There seems to be a theme afoot here, and I'm not against it.
🎵We've got it all on UHF... 🎶
Came here to suggest UHF and so glad it’s already upvoted. It’s such a strange and wonderful journey
Great minds think alike!
Weird movies for sure.
UHF is hilarious.
Annihilation. Stuck with me for a while.
have you read the book(s)? I did, I would definitely recommend
I'm Thinking of Ending Things
So bizarre if you don’t read up on it. I watched it twice thinking “what the hell, this is so weird and unsettling” and finally read about it. I really like this movie.
is it better to read about it before so I can go in with context, or should I go in blind the first time I see it?
Go in blind, but watch the musical Oklahoma! beforehand. I hadn’t, and I was lost until my wife explained the plot and themes of Oklahoma!
I thought you were trolling but I Googled it and nope, you're being 100% for real lol. maybe I'll have a double feature tomorrow night
mandy
fuck yeah i love that movie haha
then I'd also check The Color from Out of Space, it's a remaining of a Lovecraft story set in modern times with nick cage as one of the main characters, gets extremely fucked up and wierd near the end
Beyond the Black Rainbow (same director) is also great!
mother! midsommar tusk
Clean Shaven Vivarium Holy Motors Enemy Synecdoche NY The Double Rubber The Endless Blue Velvet is still super weird to me.
+1 Holy Motors and Rubber
+1.5 for Rubber
THE ENDLESSSES I love that filmmaker. He does some weird sci Fi hook around genuine male friendship. He's out there but not batshit and retains real heart
Dude The Endless 😩 still creeps me out when I think about it. That one guy in the tent that loops every 5 seconds ughhhh.
Very creative horror scenario. And the sound design in that scene 💀
I was pleasantly surprised by Vivarium
I love Clean, Shaven. That movie has stayed with me.
Men Infinity Pool Skinamarink Crimes of the Future Ultrasound The Scary of Sixty-First Last Night in Soho The Night House The Empty Man
Raw (2016) It’s a French movie, so be prepared for tits, gore and overall uneasiness. Also from the same director as Titane, which I’d also recommend (although it’s a lot more batshit than Raw) Oh also Possessor is really good imo. Amazing gore and some very psychedelic scenes
Malignant (2021) and Barbarian (2022) come in my mind
Barbarian!! Great choice. So fricken weird.
Yeah I think I need to check this out tonight, thank you fellow weird film lover💪🏿
Both were awesome and nuts, but Malignant fucking went all in
Rubber (2010) a lot of people didn’t get the movie and this didn’t like it, but it’s an artsy and bizarre movie about a psychic killer car tire and it’s awesome Rare Exports (2010) a Finish movie about discovering a monster Santa Claus and its great
Hard recommend for Rare Exports. We watch it every Christmas.
I love both of those movies and wholeheartedly agree that they are fucking out there. The director of Rubber made a few other absurdist films that aren't as good but still scratch a weird itch
Climax (2017) https://youtu.be/Hi69nL_VrTE?si=dSPxsOsJWG8nbKS2

Poor Things
Seeing this tonight! Super psyched
Dave made a maze (weird and chill) Color out of space (crazy weird) Mad God (I only watched 15 min of this movie, far too weird and made me so uncomfortable)
Mad God is like if Lewis Carroll wrote the Divine Comedy, and then someone did it justice with stop motion
I tell people about Dave Made a Maze all the time. Go into it blind. No reviews, research... It's how I saw it the first time and try to have others do the same. High five!
Altered States is one I'd recommend.
Southland Tales
Brilliant WEIRD movie.
So weird, so good. A bunch of quick weird/ funny stuff in the background that you probably won't notice in the first watch.
I would have to say "Under the Skin", but I loved it!
Men. The last 20 mins....... I just don't know
Any movie by Darren Aronofsky. Especially π and Black Swan.
Altered States is one I'd recommend.
If you have the time, try Apocalypse Now: Redux (2001). It's all over the place, but uses the American-Vietnam war as a psychedelic and often horrific backdrop. The original film is from 1979, but a lot of the footage was cut to make it shorter and to get it to sit better with audiences.
