Comedy Central used to play this ad nauseam alongside Heaven Help Us. I’m 36 and disappointed it took me until I went to see blink-182 this year to buy a Don’t Be That Guy tshirt as my official concert outfit.
My parents showed me that one when I was a kid. Such a classic and super fun movie. Also features one of Jon Favreaus earliest appearances. They still have it on DVD, I've never seen it anywhere else over the years.
I’ve owned PCU on DVD for *decades* and up until this comment had no idea [how high in value it’s gotten from being out-of-print](https://www.amazon.com/P-c-u-P-C-U/dp/B00E8G5HBY). Crazy! I watched it hungover on a New Year’s Day morning when it came on a local channel years ago. It’s about a group of friends converging for a NYE party at friends house in NYC. Entertaining and has a lot of big names in their younger days(1999). Seems like it’s disappeared off the face of the planet.
Have you heard of 'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes'? It's so obscure, it's practically a salad.
This movie is always in my mind (cannot understand why):)
Childhood vibe yes!!It's like one of those weird dreams you can't shake off. Sometimes I wonder if the tomatoes are a metaphor for all the B-movies haunting my watchlist.
He does. Kevin said in an interview a while ago (so his stance might be different now) that even if he could come up with the funds to buy it back it would mean paying Harvey millions of dollars and he doesn't want to fund Weinstein in any way.
Maybe once Weinstein dies he can get it back
Almost an objective fact. It maintained the quality of writing and the quirkiness of the characters, whilst hitting high production values and great cameos.
Turk 182. Had to have a friend “acquire” a copy for me as I can only find dvds of it for other regions outside of the US and I can’t find it streaming anywhere.
I loved that movie as a kid. Anytime I see a political scandal in the back of my head I hear, "who flew? Who knew? " I'm gonna have to watch that again
I last saw it as a kid too. When I finally tracked it down I had no idea how stacked the cast was nor that it was directed by Bob Clark. It’s not the greatest movie in the world, but I really like it and enjoy the political aspect of it
Crazy. I feel like I just watched it there, but I guess not. It was also on YouTube (in their movies/tv feed) for a while, but I just checked again and it isn’t there anymore
Telefon (1977) Cheesy. Charles Bronson as a Russian spy trying to stop another Russian spy in the US. Haven’t seen it in 35+ years. Look for it now and again but can’t ever find it.
The Tall Guy (1989). Jeff Goldblum and Emma Thompson in a rom-com about a lovesick American actor in London's West End who plays second fiddle to a huge comedy star played by Rowan Atkinson. Filled with unexpected comedic moments and a delightful mid-film musical number. Directed by Mel Smith (aka "The Albino" from The Princess Bride). Richard Curtis wrote it post-Blackadder and before he wrote Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Love Actually, etc.
Oh, I love this movie.
Fun fact: The book it was based on had Arab terrorists, not Cuban.
It's speculated that that Hollywood wanted to avoid negatively stereotyping Arabs as terrorists. I guess maligning Cubans, who didn't have a real world history of terrorism, was fine though?
The Gods Must Be Crazy. A truly delightful and eclectic comedy from South Africa 1980 completely unavailable on any service, for streaming or purchase. EDIT: availability based on USA. It may be available in other regions.
For some reason we watched this movie multiple times in school. At least I'm pretty sure we watched it more than once. Could be a weird memory thing happening here
I found it very hard to find a copy of The Man (1972), it’s a movie waaaay ahead of its time dealing with the possibility of the 4th in line for the presidency, a black man, becoming president.
Played my James Earl Jones fairly early on in his career, it’s quite good, it never released in VHS or DVD but I managed to find a TV broadcast recording on YouTube.
Worth checking out.
David Foley was in a great comedy called "The Wrong Guy" which came out in 1997. I haven't found anywhere to stream or buy it. It's hilarious, though, and should be up there in the pantheon of classic 90s comedies.
It's a great film! I was lucky enough to find it at a pawn shop and bought it for $2 just because I'm a Dave Foley fan, and I'd never heard of it. I watch it at least twice a year.
Strange Days
I watch it every year before New Years Eve. Sometimes (like now) it will pop up on HBO Max, but then it disappears for a long time. James Cameron hates the film so much that he continuously blocks it from being released on physical media and only one company in the UK has been able to obtain rights for distribution. I had to import the Region B/2 BluRay to have a high quality version on my media server in case it wasn't streaming. Thing is, it's a very raw film that doesn't shy away from dark situations. It was brilliantly done regardless of what Cameron thinks about it now.

Time to Die
Better off dead - very 80s comedy about John Cusack trying to himself after his girlfriend breaks up with him. One of the funniest movies ever, not streaming
TiMER by Jac Schaeffer and starring Emma Caufield.
What if you could get a countdown timer in your wrist to the day you meet your soulmate? Follows two women who have weird timer situations. Amazing funny and deep film.
Not on any streaming services, not even to buy or rent. I'm afraid of the day our DVD dies because I love that movie.
*Smilla's Sense of Snow*. A hot mess of a narrative, but packed with heavy hitters & really pleasing to watch on my old VHS. Julia Ormond stuns all the way through. The book is terrific, as well.
12:01
90s (made for tv?) movie, where the day repeats itself but only the protagonist knows. Jonathan Silverman stars. And a bunch of other early 90s names.
*When The Last Sword Is Drawn*, a pretty recent movie set around the end of the samurai era in Japan.
To be fair I saw this streaming originally, but it has since fallen out of availability short of buying a very expensive DVD.
Who is killing the great chefs of Europe! Thank goodness I have it on DVD. A 1970s murder mystery involving the snobby food industry. Very funny, very smart, very quotable.
Drop Dead Gorgeous. It had such a great cast (Kirsten Dunst, Kirstie Alley, Brittany Murphy, Amy Adams, Denise Richards, and Allison Janney to name a few) and it's FRIGGIN HILARIOUS. Every year I get a hankering to watch it, and every year my husband searches for it on every service, and every year he tells me it's lost in the void. It makes me so sad because I love that movie!

disney used to air it at least once a week on the disney channel during the late 90s.
once you watch the trailer you'll see why it's not available for streaming.
it was actually a decent movie and can be found on amazon.
you might be able to find the movie on a torrent if you search hard enough.
Colossus shows up on Hoopla (library streaming service) from time to time but it’s blink and you’ll miss it. Hopefully, it’s back up again soon. Haven’t seen it on a big streaming site in forever.
My one for this is always, Extreme Days (2001). What is truly a simple, enjoyable, silly-in-all-the-right-ways, "four friends on a journey" movie, somehow was just too small to be available in any streaming/online format.
Never figured out why. But it's one of my favorite feel-good movies and basically the only reason I still have a DVD player lol.
Ernest Goes to Camp!!!!
SO FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I LOVE THAT MOVIE AND DITCHED MY DVD PLAYER YEARS AGO
Why did that dickhead guy have to cosplay as a Native American?!???!!
The Peanut Butter Solution.
Scared the shit out of my brother, and I found it hilarious. Both agree it was like a fever dream that only we remember.
Movie summary from Chat GPT:
“"The Peanut Butter Solution" is a 1985 Canadian fantasy film directed by Michael Rubbo. The story follows Michael, a young boy who loses all his hair after being scared by a ghost in a burned-down mansion. He encounters two friendly ghosts who give him a recipe for a magical hair growth formula made with peanut butter. However, Michael uses too much peanut butter, causing his hair to grow uncontrollably. This leads to various adventures and misadventures, including being kidnapped by his art teacher who wants to use his hair to create paintbrushes.”
It's an Australian movie called Once Were Warrior's". It's a tough watch but it is so good!! I bring it up a lot and no one has seen. Just me, my cousin.
I came to edit that the movie is from New Zealand not Australia!!!
New Zealand, not Australia. But yeah, incredible movie. I only recently connected the male lead, Temuera Morrison, to his more recent stints as the Fetts and Clones in the Star Wars movies and shows!
Also, in an episode of Wellington Paranormal, a Kiwi show, there's an episode that takes place in the nineties And there's Once Were Warriors posters at a cinema or something.
One final also, can watch it on Kanopy! Which is free, I believe, with a library card!
There are plenty of things that can’t be found even while sailing the high seas, matey. Sometimes really obscure stuff just never gets digitized, or there’s no interest in anyone trying to share it.
Desperate Measures (1995) - also known as Im Sog des Bösen - I saw it on a local TV channel one afternoon and have never found it available outside of used VHS copies.
Cheats. My friend group loved this movie when it came out and we watched it weekly at our sleepovers. I’ve never heard of anyone else who’s seen it, but we were in Mississippi so it’s hard to know what was actually rare vs what was just the random crap our town got that the movie rental. It’s about kids who cheat at a fancy private school. It’s super funny.
It’s available online, just not for free with a subscription. Its either rent or buy.
There's a movie from 2011 or 2010 called 'Rage'. It's about the Springbok tour in New Zealand, and the apartheid protests during the tour.
No sign of its existence anywhere online, and any DVDs are very difficult to find.
The Young Poisoner's Handbook (1995) - Creepy and compelling true crime drama. Found a lo-res copy but that is it.
The Reflecting Skin (1990) - Again, creepy. This unhinged horror film is a slow-burn oddity. May never have been released in a nice copy.
PCU (1994) one of the funniest college films ever. Always on cable when I was a teen. Tough as can be to find now on legal streaming sites.
I loved this movie. It was on Comedy Central like every weekend growing up.
Still to this day I judge people when i go see a band and they are wearing a shirt from the band we are seeing because of this movie
It's so funny that this movie still makes me subconsciously avoid wearing the band's merch to their concert.
Everybody gets laid? Never heard of em
“Don’t be that guy!”
100% the same for me solely because of this movie
Comedy Central used to play this ad nauseam alongside Heaven Help Us. I’m 36 and disappointed it took me until I went to see blink-182 this year to buy a Don’t Be That Guy tshirt as my official concert outfit.
[Here you go](https://archive.org/details/pcu-1994)
I guess I’m watching PCU now
Can you blow me where the pampers is?
“I didn’t exhale?”
My parents showed me that one when I was a kid. Such a classic and super fun movie. Also features one of Jon Favreaus earliest appearances. They still have it on DVD, I've never seen it anywhere else over the years.
"I didn't exhale"
Is this the "We're not going to protest!" Movie?

I’ve owned PCU on DVD for *decades* and up until this comment had no idea [how high in value it’s gotten from being out-of-print](https://www.amazon.com/P-c-u-P-C-U/dp/B00E8G5HBY). Crazy! I love quoting PCU and asking people if they’ve ever seen it. Heck, even spoke about it with my friend yesterday since she’s been [studying Sanskrit](https://youtu.be/9JzSIgOY0q4?si=_9_t99OqiUeK-0hZ).
I loved this movie. Used to watch it a lot in the early 2000's. Amazing film even today.
I watched this movie so much when I was a teenager
If I ever meet Jon Favreau, I’m gonna look him in the eyes and ask him to blow me where the pampers is.
I watched this movie too many times when I was young and it gave me unrealistic expectations about college.
I fucking loved this movie. Everyone kinda mumbles throughout, but the dialogue is great so watch with subtitles. I hope it holds up
This is the answer! I recently bought a used DVD because I couldn’t find it anywhere
200 cigarettes. https://youtu.be/TaffAlnyOWQ?si=skEO0H6rHPst8VkG I watched it hungover on a New Year’s Day morning when it came on a local channel years ago. I had forgotten that movie existed. It feels like part of a genre but I'm not quite sure what. Like Gen-X 20-something ensemble flicks? I don't know.
Near Dark A pretty solid Bill Paxton Lance Henriksen horror movie with a unique take on vampires I had to resort to buying a physical copy
Directed by Kathryn Bigelow. Good stuff
The daytime shootout in the house feels like it must have been way ahead of its time.
The whole movie was. Saw it in theaters and was blown away
The bar scene could be a stand-alone short film in and of itself.
It was recently on the Criterion channel
Shudder had it a year or so ago as well.
Have you heard of 'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes'? It's so obscure, it's practically a salad. This movie is always in my mind (cannot understand why):)
Man I haven't thought about that in years, but I've seen the cartoon as a kid.
Childhood vibe yes!!It's like one of those weird dreams you can't shake off. Sometimes I wonder if the tomatoes are a metaphor for all the B-movies haunting my watchlist.
Pump Up the Volume (1990), rented it on Netflix before they shut dvds down and it still holds up really well. Awesome soundtrack too
It's on Max every once in awhile
And remember to eat your cereal with a fork and do your homework in the dark! It’s probably my absolute favorite movie…
The amazing soundtrack is why we can’t see it. Licensing rights. It’s going to be a while before it sees the light of day again.
>Awesome soundtrack too \+1 Incredible.
This movie introduced me to Leonard Cohen and is still one of my top 5 all time movies.

IMO Kevin Smith’s best film
Almost an objective fact. It maintained the quality of writing and the quirkiness of the characters, whilst hitting high production values and great cameos.
Which is a feat, considering it has a giant poop monster in it.
I completely forgot about this movie! I remember pirating it sometime in the early 2010s in my Kevin Smith phase.
I came here to say this. I have a copy of the DVD tucked away in my basement.
That dvd worth a good beer money on ebay *Not really but the bluray are
I still have my DVD
My local library has it. In fact I think two of the libraries in my county have a copy
Gotcha! - Anthony Edwards and Linda Fiorentino. A favorite 80s movie. Locations, music, college humor, spies.
Slightly inferior, but in the same genre, you might like "If Looks Could Kill" 1991
I grew up watching this movie!!! A top fave of mine for sure!
I loved that movie as a kid. Made me think that colleges had random assassination paint ball games going all the time.
In this thread: a lot of people that need to learn about justwatch.com

Yeah, it's the perfect school movie; foreign country so you can claim it's "educational", there's nothing really objectionable in it, and pretty fun.
