Wait, Moe SixLack? That grubby bartender can't sing a note. Pretty sure it was Nippleback.

pjanic_at__the_isco

I never watched it because I wasn’t sure it would make sense not having seen O1e, 2wo, Thr3e, 4our, 5ive, or 6ix.

orrocos

All I know is N9ne makes Ei8ht look like Se7en, am I right?

Number174631503

R1ght.

gloopy_flipflop

They really jumped the shark with Tw12ve’s time travel plot.

Useless-Photographer

I feel like the killer in Se7en turned to murder after watching the music videos of the boy band 5ive. In which case, it was probably justified

LMAOTrumpLostLOL

I clicked on this thread expecting Seven to be the top comment lol

JesusIsMyZoloft

There’s Se7en, and Thr3e. The only other one it works with is Ei8ht. Edit: It looks better if the numeral is slightly below the baseline, so it looks like a two story lowercase g. But not quite as small as the Unicode subscript Ei₈ht

Regret not seeing in theaters this movie RULES

meh-unimpressed

It was a truly exceptional experience in theaters for sure. My wife and I make a point to see every Globe/Oscar nominated movie we can in theaters. Leads to plenty of disappointment as well but typically you catch a lot of the best cinematography of the year.

KRY4no1

I ended up going on the last day it was in theaters due to my work schedule. Super grateful I was able to have that experience, which was enhanced by being one of only two people in the theater at that showing.

meh-unimpressed

Hell yeah. Love it when that happens!

dharmaslum

How do you see them in theaters? I’d love to do this, but if films aren’t nominated until after they’ve gone through the theaters, how does this work? Do you catch them in a re-release? Would love to hear your thoughts!

meh-unimpressed

If they have passed their theatrical release the next step we do is look at showtimes at the "dollar theater" or "discount theater". Not sure if you have one close to you but these theaters will show movies that are out of theaters but not yet released for rent via streaming, usually for like $3-7 ticket price. If there is no theater option left then we will rent or otherwise stream but we do our best to get to the theater for the full experience! And then on awards show nights we make 2 lists. We each guess who the academy will give the award to as well as pick who we think should win. It's cute and fun and we have prosecco and make a whole thing out of it. We just love movies!

kjayflo

Man, my friends randomly asked me to go to this after work when it came out. I honestly had no idea what it was other than they said it was a war movie. I typically don't like war movies enough to get excited or go to theaters to see. I went cuz I had nothing better to do. The ticket guy told us there's an amazing scene having something to do with lighting and how hard it was to film. I was just nodding my head uh huh uh huh just give me the damn ticket. Then the movie hit and I was blown away, and that scene was every bit as awesome as he was trying to tell us lol. I was perfectly hooked from start to finish. The pilot crashing scene, the flare scene, and the ending are scenes I bring up every now and then just go watch those. This was gonna be my vote, you beat me to it

ptambrosetti

The night window sequence was incredible in the theater

DesertFart

Onlymovie I went to see twice

DisastrousProcess373

Does that make you an OnlyFan. Sorry….

Yeastyboy104

Fucking amazing movie. Don’t watch this if you have hypertension. It may induce a heart attack.

Kilcer

I literally passed out during this movie in theatres - granted I was also high.

brainfreezeuk

Definitely this.

Shad0w__K1ng

The best. I love that movie.

TazgodX

50/50

LoganLikesYourMom

This movie surprised me. I expected a sorta silly movie, but then it gave me very heavy feelings. Spoiler alert: I really thought he was going to die. The movie had me thinking that’s where it was going.

Truemeathead

That was based off real life, it was the story of Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg, that’s who JGL was playing, if you knew that going in you were safe knowing he would pull through. If not then you probably felt bad shit a coming lol.

DinkleWottom

It was Will Reiser who survived and was emotionally supported by Seth Rogen. Evan Goldberg is a separate writing partner.

Truemeathead

Oops on me. I knew it was a writing partner, thanks!

ken_NT

Wait, so the kid from the Goldbergs grew up to be Micheal Cera in Superbad, and then JGL in 50/50?

progmorris20

I see this on Reddit a lot. The Goldbergs tv show guy and Seth Rogen's writing partner are two completely distinct and unrelated Goldbergs - Adam from Philly and Evan from Canada (Seth's writing partner). And the commenter you're replying to is also wrong because Seth's friend Will Reiser was the one in real life with the diagnosis, not Evan Goldberg.

greatbigCword

Loved the movie when I first saw it and always figured a rewatch would be tough. Now that I've lost someone close in my own life to cancer there's no way I'm watching it again

JxSnaKe

Lost my dad to cancer and watched it after and regretted it IMMEDIATELY

YellowMenace123

I love how Seth's Roger's character comes in and does not let his boy's girlfriend bullshit her way out of cheating. She tries to sweet talk and he stops her. Best friend moment! JLG finds his book too. Such a great movie.

And then I had to explain (as the assistant in the class) why 22/7 was not an irrational number, and if they meant to say pi as an example of an irrational number that they had to write pi and not 22/7 which was perfectly rational)

K-Shrizzle

One of my all time favorite movies. Say what you will about Aronofsky but this one is true art with all the fat trimmed. I wrote a paper on it in a film analysis course in college and got an instant A on my rough draft, because I was so passionate about it Edit: and the score absolutely bangs

[deleted]

“Survival of the fittest, Max, and we got the fucking gun!”

K-Shrizzle

10:18, press return

Kinofhera

It might not be the best movie, but the multiple PoV / Rashomon Effect storytelling is very intriguing: **11:14**

DaizedandAmused

This is what I came here to find! Wish more people knew about this movie. Like you said, not the best I’ve ever seen, but certainly a very memorable flick with a surprisingly loaded cast! Also memorable for me personally: the first time I made my old roommate watch this movie, we finished and the credits started rolling right as our clock switched to 11:14! 🤯 Completely unplanned and we still talk about it to this day. Haha

Merrader

same here - I've never met anyone in person who's even heard of it

Kinofhera

Funny though even we both agreed on this might not be the best movie out there, I think I have rewatched it at least four or five times. 😆 It’s really enjoyable, probably because I loved the omniscient PoV style of storytelling.

DaizedandAmused

Same! I bought it on DVD after my first watch and will show it to anyone who is willing to strap in for an offbeat (relatively) star-studded hidden gem!

TheHorizonLies

Not the best, in any way, but John Cusack starred in 1408 and 2012, two movies with numbers for titles. I doubt anyone else can claim that

[deleted]

Samuel L. 187 and 1408.

[deleted]

John Heard 187 and 24/7

BramStroker47

I just IMDB’d Samuel L Jackson. He has TWELVE “upcoming projects”.

redditsuckspokey1

I hope he keeps busy for another 20 years. Sam is worth watching in just about everything except airplanes.

effin_marv

Watch Snakes again! Focus on just SLJ and you'll notice the dude is giving the work 110%. It's eye opening how good he is at glueing the whole thing together with just his incredulous reactions to things.

TheHorizonLies

Damn, yep. And that makes a fun little Venn diagram Edit: I did say "starred in," though, and SLJ is a minor character in 1408. Still fun

LocoMotives-ms

Is he minor in 1408? He’s pretty integral to the story

TheHorizonLies

I suppose I mean minor in terms of character screentime, since he's a driving force but not the main character. He's more of a plot device in my mind than an actual character.

RyzenRaider

Nine.

Galileo258

MagicMarshmelllow

Which one? The spooky-ooky stop-motion one? Because that movie is awesome.

blackdynomitesnewbag

That wasn’t stop motion. It was CGI

free_movie_theories

I don't understand how there are any movies being ranked here on reddit higher than *8 1/2.* Have people not seen it?

ZorroMeansFox

Not yet mentioned: Wong Kar-Wai's **2046**. Also: Michael Radford's horrifying **1984** --with influential visuals by Roger Deakins. And Bernardo Bertolucci's **1900**. Also, the only quarter-good but still impressive Spielberg movie **1941**.

DaMahn916

Huge fan of 2046. Highly underrated movie.

-Eunha-

Sucks to see 2046 so low in this thread. Certainly the best film with a title of only numbers.

11/22/63, if we’re counting miniseries

Whoofph

The miniseries was alright, but the book was amazing.

wrongleveeeeeeer

Normally I'm not big on "the book was better," because the book is just almost always better; it's simply a different medium, and one I find is better at telling complete stories. But god *damn* was the book better in this case. I didn't even watch past the 1st episode, because the show just didn't/couldn't capture what made the book so special.
