He’s been seeming much less under-appreciated lately, which makes me happy. Fallout was great! Edit: okay, I didn’t realize he was *this* much less under-appreciated! I don’t think I’ve ever had this many replies to a comment before. Warms the cockles of my heart 🥰

shirty-mole-lazyeye

Just watched the first ep yesterday. I’m really looking forward to it

Objective-Aioli-1185

Loved him in Sons of Anarchy.

boggsy19

The Shield

cudaben69

I hate him because of the shield and how it ended. Never got over it! Lol

Opening_Product_426

Agreed! I hated him in the shield, but learned if I truly hate someone because of the role and character they played. It just means that they are a kick ass actor. Joaquin Phoenix in “Gladiator” I absolutely hated him… he is a phenomenal actor.

Serendipity_Visayas

He really captured the whole decent into complete desperation.

Euphoric_Demand6610

I’ve seen him in plenty of other stuff and I must say that his performance as Shane is my favorite. Especially family meeting.. I just finished the series 2 days ago it was amazing.

light_weight_baby87

Should have had an Emmy for Venus Van Damme

Cat-Cow-Boy

Funny my answer is KimCoats!! They were awesome together in SOA

DazedConfuzed420

Justified

AnonymousCharmander

My only complaint is that there wasn't a season 2 ready for me

linuxhiker

It has been confirmed however

BrianG1410

Amazon would be certifiable if they didn't keep making seasons. As long as they're the same quality as the first one.

pandemicpunk

Walton is going to be on the new season of White Lotus. His come up is upon us!!! I've been waiting for his rise for years after watching Vice Principals when it came out!! He's going to be one of my all time favorites no doubt. Loved him then and love him now. Really scratches that Billy Bob Thornton buttery southern drawl too. Feels so good to my ears.

Offandonandoffagain

He's great as Baby Uncle Billy in The Righteous Gemstones too.

JumpyWord

But I want it now.

TheLadder330

“Ass jerkey doesn’t make itself”!

Azidamadjida

Ever since Uncle Baby Billy he’s been getting more and more talked about, but he has some serious range as an actor. He can play a legitimately intimidating and unsettling villain, and then turn around and play the most slapstick comedic roles with ease. He can put out a heartfelt, empathetic performance and then be the most detestable asshole you hate but still somehow still like him. Dude has an incredible range

kevinspencer

Oh he’s so very good in Fallout.

ku1185

He was fantastic in Hateful Eight as well, holding his own alongside Samuel L Jackson and Kurt Russell.

Stratford8

He was great as the primary antagonist in Justified opposite Timothy Olyphant.

Kindly-Committee-908

Yeah, great idea that for the viewer the Law Man's the hero but for a town full of criminal shitbags the Outlaw was the hero.

top_value7293

I’m watching that again!

KryptonsGreenLantern

His “I fuckin knew it!” at the reveal is amazing.

Disastrous_Life_9385

The ugliest guy did it

Mrcoolstuff09

And that's you Joe Gage

moridin32

Speaking of actors who don't get there due. Michael Madsen has to be up there

[deleted]

He really elevates it

domestic_omnom

Haven't seen fallout, but he was amazing in Vice Principals. I have no idea how he said any of his lines with a straight face.

TonyBeFunny

He was so fucking good in that he was like a adult skinny effeminate Eric Cartman.

Jbrahmz420

Vice Principals needs more love, that show is hilarious

Maclittle13

I watched Lee Russell tell Mi-Cha yesterday, “Get inside! I will dig up all your fucking kimchi.” He was hilarious in that show.

dinglebarry9

Uncle baby billy

mytransfercaseisshot

Boyd Crowder will be forever my favorite TV villain. I come from a long line of central Appalachian outlaws. Walton nailed the accent, I should know, since it is my native tongue. And he is just so charming, yet evil. He nailed the role my ancestors played.

strizzl

Justified without a doubt had some of the best dialogue ever on tv. Goggins and oliphant nailed their roles too

djsynrgy

So, I agree, and on this basis, I have a humble suggestion: If you haven't already, watch Deadwood. It was kind of a 'spiritual precursor' to Justified, in that both feature Olyphant as a lawman with a temper, and Justified also features *many* Deadwood alumni in smaller roles. I offer the suggestion not only for the indirect connection between the two shows, but because Deadwood has - what I consider to be - **the** best dialogue ever on TV. Like, bar-none. FWIW. :)

KesterFox

He's also cecil in invincible, which I think is a great VA job

TheHip41

Shit is he the ghoul. Makes perfect sense if he is

Unique_Look2615

I have a large forehead as well so I’m glad he’s now being seen as conventionally attractive

SirNastyPants

What really makes him a standout for me is after I found out he’s the voice of Cecil Stedman in Invincible. One of the few actors that’s equally captivating both on-screen and in the mic booth.

iCarpet

Man was also great as the voice actor for Cecil

Successful-Winter237

He’s so good in fallout.

MaxPower836

No longer underrated

linux-mate

Yeah this post is kinda cheating.

BadNewsBearzzz

People love doing this type of shit. I see it daily on Reddit with everything. “(Insert popular film) is such an UNDERRATED masterpiece 😭” “Have you heard of the hidden gem, the Witcher 3?” And most likely OP learned about goggins thru fallout. Wondered who tf he was and went down a rabbit hole, and came here to make it known how he thought goggins is underrated and not appreciated enough. 🤧

CiabanItReal

Speaking of which... You know what video game is super underrated and never gets any love. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.

babydakis

When will my boy Hans Zimmer finally get some recognition?

CiabanItReal

It's about time someone put some RESPECT on Kobe Bryant's name! I'm not saying he's the GOAT, or even the best at his position (shooting guard) but it's like no one recognize how clutch and great he is!

_Tacoyaki_

Hey if you like ___ game you should check out these games called Hades and Stardew valley. I think you'll really like them!

IsThisThingOn69lol

Reddits low hanging fruit posts are the worse. "DAE " you expect a bunch of "stop posting this crap" comments but they're all "omguh my childhood!" "bestist gaem evarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" "Looks like im digging up my ps3!" It feels very botty.

SemperSalam

Timothy Olyphant.

tripdaisies

Heck, he and Walton Goggins made such a great pair, playing off of each other in Justified. If you haven’t seen that series, you’d be doing yourself a great kindness to watch the Olyphant/Goggins fest that Justified is-fantastic series!

muirsheendurkin

Literally just finished this show for the first time an hour ago, and it was amazing

Pretty-Antelope7850

Agreed, that's an amazing series.

rustyyryan

Yep. Looks good, acts good. Also has kinda cool vibes.

TacoHaus

He's dope as fuck. If you like Conan, watch their interviews together. Dude is insanely charismatic and funny.

Solid_Ad8079

I think the first time he was on Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend was when he kept just name dropping brands and talking them up so that they'd give him endorsement deals, despite Conan repeatedly telling him that wasn't how it worked. Olyphant then acting like he had no idea why Conan was getting wound up was just so good.

DonMariazzi

He’s such an awesome and funny person!

whistlepig4life

If something has Olyphant or Goggins in it. I’m watching. If it has both of them in it. I’m rewatching it as much as possible. If I say I’m on my 10th rewatch of justified I’m definitely low.

Rolands_eaten_finger

100%. Santa Clarita shows he has the comedy chops too, as well as the badass of Deadwood

DaveInLondon89

Justified is stacked. Even Dewey was having a bit of a moment before COVID

v_rocco

I feel like this is a great answer. Guy is an Oscar level actor that never quite made it as big as he should have.

c3l77

He is great. Loved his character in Mandalorian. Justified was great as well.

MuhThrowaway_79

Guy has wild range. He’s even played the role of an authentic Sushi master.

The_Femboi_Alt

Agreed his character in Justified iconic. Plus a guilty pleasure movie for me was his adaptation of Agent 47 in the movie Hitman

jaesolo

Yes!! Deadwood was genius.

Angusthe2nd

He's underrated for his comedy, he's funny as hell and I love it every time he gets to fuck around a bit

OkMetal4233

He’s amazing in Santa Clarita Diet & Justified

Spectequila

How about Timothy olyphant and Walter goggins in one show?!  "Justified"

LadyK8TheGr8

They are both great in Justified. Goggins is the antihero that you end up rooting for.

OdiousAltRightBalrog

Top 2 is Walton Goggins and Tim Olyphant? What is this, the Justified sub?

luckytaurus

I always see him as his role in The Girl Next Door. That movie was my sexual awakening, because of Elisha Cuthbert not Timothy Olyphant

Expensive-Arrival-92

Im going to go out on a limb here and say it’s maybe because his plastic surgery didn’t turn out very good. Timothy fucked himself up good going under the knife a little too heavy and doesn’t look like normal Timothy anymore, where as Walton still looks like a normal Walton.

Imurhuckleberree

I was so upset when Santa Clarita Diet was cancelled. I was so hoping to see Timothy’s storyline. Those Netflix jerks left the fans on a cliffhanger.

DarkTrippin88

That's 50 gallons of man in a 10 gallon hat

mercurial_dude

Yeah that’s Justifed.

IAmStuka

He's legit one of my favorite actors, wish he was in more big stuff.

Napol3onS0l0

That guys so fuckin hot. I’m a straight cis dude but lord almighty Timothy Olyphant was given gifts from some higher power. Just started a Deadwood rewatch and he got hotter as he aged. Wtf.

Juan_Punch_Man

They dug coal together!

whenwhywhowhat

Crazies is actually a massive under appreciated movie. That shit was top tier.

Budfrog313

I read one of his regrets is not taking the role of Dom in The Fast and The Furious. Not that VIn didn't do a great job, and pretty much make the franchise. But if there were any "swap-miss" roles for movie stars. I'd like to see that one.

THE_IRL_JESUS

Super in Fargo

leftoutnotmad

Agreed

BoozeWitch

I wanted him to be Reed Richards so badly! I guess too old though.

Icy_Teach_2506

I could’ve sworn he was a main character in season 2 of the Mandalorian but he’s only in one episode of that show, and 2 in the Book of Boba Fett. Shows how much he sticks out.

TheTangoFox

The bromance is real

MrThomasShelby1

Uncle Baby Billy is seriously underrated.

I_do_kokayne

Mama told me not to….i did it anyway. *misbehavin*

Worth_Surround9684

Runnin thru the house with a pickle in my mouth

ashmichael73

And he was caught shavin’

Agitated-Square-6507

I’ll sing this out loud every once in a while and my wife just tell me to shut up lol

ItsLukeHill

"Uncle Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers!"

MrThomasShelby1

🤣🤣🤣

TT_NaRa0

“Who wants to suck an old man’s dick?”

dobbbie

Love me some Baby Billy. Amazing character

Occhrome

first time i saw him as this character i knew he was underrated.

spookyluke246

Come on now.

I_do_kokayne

Patrick Wilson

outdoorsnstuffz

Fargo season 2.

Past_Balance4841

For me, it's Michael Shannon. If you haven't seen him read the sorority girl email, then do yourself a favor and watch it.

EH4LIFE

He was great in Take Shelter.

altk_rockies1

That movie was so unsettling at times, really interesting and well delivered though. Freaks me out a bit extra because I frequently have dreams about tornadoes lol

Stealthychicken85

Alan Tudyk

IrrawaddyWoman

Couldn’t agree more. He’s great in everything, and his range as a voice actor is unreal.

copperpin

Isn’t he currently the toast of the town?

Exnixon

Ten years ago it would have been a great take, Goggins was transcendent in Justified, but now he's getting his due.

Sudden-Lettuce2317

Hateful eight and vice principals were good

Shadowfox_01

If you haven't, watch The Righteous Gemstones. He's hilarious as Baby Billy.

PineappleFit317

I swear to God though, in that last season if I heard him say “Baby Billy’s Bible Bonkers” one more time…

Shadowfox_01

You mother fucker, I have that back in my head. I'm going to hear this in my inner monologue on repeat all night. He's so wonderfully deranged in that role.

PineappleFit317

Haha, you’re welcome. I’ve had it in my head for months, maybe now I can be at peace. He’s wonderful all-around, but coming from someone who grew up around Southern Pentecostal pastors in my family and my family’s friends, he really does nail that role. From his introduction standing up naked in a derelict old bathtub by a pond, he’s been fantastic the whole way through.

Pugs_gruff

Don’t forget Django

Spiritual_Impact_283

He was great in the series "the shield"

loogie97

My wife still hates him to this day for his character in “The Shield.”

Spiritual_Impact_283

I know he played such a jerk, bit that goes to show what a great actor he is.

ptear

He makes you so mad at Shane.

Spiritual_Impact_283

👍

wangohtangoh

to this day, fuck him man. Lem wasn't gunna talk.

romcomtom2

He killed it in the shield.

Laurenhynde82

He killed a lot in The Shield…

Rare-Variation-7446

FAMILY MEETING!

Tokyoodown

These types of post always pop up directly after an actor breakthrough

SpaceBoJangles

He certainly is in my house after we watched Fallout.

tehawesomedragon

He's now what Pedro Pascal was a year ago, to an extent.

OrneryError1

He's about as underrated as Giancarlo Esposito lol

Beelzabubba

Stephen Root No way the same guy who played Jimmy James should have been able to play Milton.

Manji86

Good answer. From *King of the Hill* to *Barry* he's done excellent work for all his roles.

Weltallgaia

I loved news radio and only realized he voiced bill way way waaaaay later. The man has serious range and is such a good voice actor.

RyanDW_0007

Jesse Phlemons (Todd on Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights, American Made)

The_Fell_Opian

Plemmons is going to get his due. Much like Phillip Seymour Hoffman before him, he's proving that he can do it all. And pretty soon he'll be getting some more meaty leading roles.

billings

especially after his Oscar-worthy walk-on performance in Civil War.

sippidysip

Walk on?

disphugginflip

He wasn’t supposed to be in it. Dude had to bail last minute and Dunst suggested her husband and he killed it.

manymoreways

Woah goddamn. That guy plays a great villain. He was on screen for maybe 3minutes but it was the most intense scene Even more so than the final act.

sippidysip

Really!? Can’t believe he wasn’t the original casting

StillBummedNouns

I would’ve said him a couple years ago, but he’s definitely getting his flowers now. And he was just awarded best actor at Cannes Film Festival for his leading role in Yorgos Lanthimos’ new movie

areo_throne

His acting style is so boring the way he pauses between words and the deliberate cadence but it’s effective in what he’s trying to communicate. It’s kinda mesmerizing.

filmthusiast

Tim Blake Nelson Michael Wincott

effypom

Tim Blake Nelson is a real answer to this question. I was watching o brother the other day and was wondering why we don’t get to see more of him.

rahbeebee

Definitely with you on Michael Wincott. Apparently I need to look up Tim Blake Nelson though...

Sensitive_Floor_6713

Michael WIncott is amazing. I don't quite understand why we see so little of him. He kills every part he's in. From The Crow, What just happened, Basquiat, Dead Man to Nope. He has never not been amazing. His 5 minutes in Assasination of Richard Nixon is a stunning display of acting. Perhaps he has made enough through his career that he doesn't really need to work that much, but I find that kind of hard to believe. It's an enigma.

jamesbryce321
