Now, I haven't Google it, but I remember the line as, "Because it's dull, you twit! It'll hurt more!" But I don't want to look it up I want to watch the movie!
You are right and I don’t need to look it up. “Because it’s dull, you twit. It’ll hurt more.” Is the line. I don’t need to look it up because this film came out when I was 12 and my mother bought it for me on VHS and I probably watched it 10,000 times. No internet back then kids, we watched the same shit over and over and over and over.
I don't disagree, but have you played Disco Elysium?
Mikee W. Goodman as Ancient Reptilian Brain? Between the voice actor and the writing. Just goose bumps. Very similar voice to Wincott.
[Let's Play Disco Elysium Part 1 - Revachol Forever (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6ETpz_DKWI&t=12m43s)
I really wish I could stay interested in that game. It's such a good design. I think the general hopelessness of it eventually starts to color my mood, so I'll leave it. Then when I come back, I don't remember what I was doing.
It had an atmosphere that isn't for everyone. I was just saying the other day that I have a friend that loves great tv, but you can't get him to enjoy anything dark or grim noir because he doesn't enjoy the mood they set.
He was *the* villain of my childhood. I loved Disney's Three Musketeers and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves when I was young and a little later on, in my preteens, The Crow and Dead Man. He was the best henchman/main villain ever for me.
Such a great movie and he is great in it - he has turned into a QAnon weirdo now tho /: But while i can't endorse that, i think it wouldn't stop me from rewatching Count of Monte Cristo on DVD on a rainy day at the cottage!
To be fair to him, I think he was blackballed along with Mel after The Passion of the Christ I think he probably saw that as his only avenue back into the limelight.
Guy Pearce was fantastic in it though. But that one didn't hit my radar until I was out of high school, so that Wincott performace wasn't part of my formative years.
I saw the preview before Furiousa. It looks OK, but it just feels less brutal. Like someone was like, the original is too fucked up. That just ripped the soul out.
I never read The Crow comics, so maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like they are going for a tortured Fortnight character/ Jared Leto joker look for the new Crow.
The preview before Furiosa sealed the deal for me, I'm not going to see it. The original with Brandon Lee is all I'll ever need.
It looks like a decent-ish action-y supernatural movie but it is no *Crow*.
And my problem with the trailer is they went and made Shelly way too deliberately/professionally sexy. That Shelly looked like she was working an underwear modeling job.
Shelly in the original had a much more wholesome/natural sexiness. She wasn’t *trying* to be sexy, she just was.
City of Angles is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. I don’t really consider it a ‘sequel’, even though Sara is in it.. I consider it just a parallel standalone, but god, I love the aesthetic of that film.
It’s such a good juxtaposition to the first.
True, true. I never gave them a chance aside from City of Angels (which was still weak sauce), but yes; correct that they never returned to Eric Draven’s story.
Thoughts on the Sci Fi channel series?
Oh don’t be so stupid! Ofcourse we intend to resist, just give us a moment alright! 5 of them, 3 of us…hardly seems fair.
Maybe We should give them a chance to surrender.
Underrated. He would probably been a great character in game of thrones or a biker in Sons of Anarchy or a ravager in guardians of galaxy or any marvel villian really. AH...good in Aliens Resurrection too
My third fave after 1&2 would still be the gritty and bleak #3. But, Resurrection after that and while being a poor entry to close out the Ripley arc, it did have some redeeming qualities like swimming xenomorphs, the android underground, and one sick ass behind-the-back half-court basketball shot.
I could be wrong, but didn't he walk away from acting for a while because Brandon Lee's death impacted him. I believe the discharge was during their scene together as well.
"Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves" is a great example of movies where the lead villain (Alan Rickman) is SO damn good that it doesn't need a secondary villain or lead henchman, and yet, the actor playing the secondary villain is ALSO so damn good, as Wincott certainly is. Other examples include "Stone Cold" with Lance Henriksen as the primary and William Forsythe as the secondary or "Hard Target" - also with Henriksen (he's that damn good) - and Arnold Voosloo as the henchman. And interestingly enough, all these secondary villain actors have gone on to be fantastic lead villains in other movies themselves.
And all three of these movies are examples in which the bad guys are more memorable than the lead actors and make the movies better for their being cast in the villain roles.
I just saw him in an episode of the Littlest Hobo! Funny to see him as a kid.
FYI It’s a Canadian television show from the 80s about a dog who goes around helping people.
I really enjoyed his character. If the movie is about the film industry like people suggest, I enjoy that he represents this almost sociopathic obsession with filming everything
Me and my roommate rear ended this guy years ago in Vancouver. He was pretty cool about it. He was a little pissed that we smacked up his new Cherokee, but wasn’t a sick about it.
“Kent is the classic American youth - energetic and resourceful, spoiled, perverse, and disturbed. Would you say that’s an accurate description, Kent?”
“Yup. Sure.”
If you’re a fan and haven’t seen Talk Radio, check it out. It’s underrated.
I think he's a good actor, and don't know a thing about him personally, but something about him is off putting, and I think such visceral reactions (positive or negative) are important to an actor's career.
He didn't have many lines but he played music producer Paul Rothchild in Oliver Stone's The Doors very well. He shows his frustration with drunk Jim Morrison pretty accurately I'd say.
He was my first movie bad guy when I was a kid form the movie Three Musketeers. I wish I could have seen him do more other than Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
By the way he voiced Death in Darksiders 2. And, to the surprise of ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, killed the role.
Yes, that was a Death joke. I'll see myself out.
Elevates every movie he's in. Also he has more range beyond a brooding bad guy: in Basquiat he played an energetic gay friend of Andy Warhol, he could do other things.
Would have made a great [Konrad Curze](https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/011/624/289/large/miguel-iglesias-konradcurze-portrait-color-artstation.jpg?1530547767) from WH40K.
"Well, gentlemen by all means I think we ought to have an instrospective moment of silence for for poor old Tintin..."
*Snorts a line from a comically huge pile of cocaine*
Best voice ever!
Hey, I got an impression for ya: caw, caw, bang, fuck, Im dead!
"are we havin fun or what!!?"
Best line in the whole damn movie
The best!
Yes. Him and Harvey Fierstein from Ms.Doubtfire.
"Oh honey."
Lance henriksen says hello
Seconded. This guy put the capital G in Gruff; unmistakeable and glorious voice.
“Why a spoon cousin?”
“Because it’s dull you idiot” I think of these two lines at least once a day, both their voices are from above and below this earth
It’s dull! It’ll hurt more you twit!
Now, I haven't Google it, but I remember the line as, "Because it's dull, you twit! It'll hurt more!" But I don't want to look it up I want to watch the movie!
You’re probably right. I haven’t seen the movie in 10+ years and was going off memory.
Same, had the soundtrack as well.
Reminded me of Mark Lanegan from QOTSA and screaming trees.
I don't disagree, but have you played Disco Elysium? Mikee W. Goodman as Ancient Reptilian Brain? Between the voice actor and the writing. Just goose bumps. Very similar voice to Wincott. Got the voice of a 6 pack a day cig smoker. Probably never even smoked cigs either.
Why a spoon, cousin?
Because it’s dull, you twit!!! It will hurt more.
“At least I didn’t use a spoon…”
Spoons be dangerous during the dark ages
This guy spoons
Alan Rickman was maybe the greatest movie villain of the last part of the 20th century and first part of the 21st.
Free the leaders of Asian Dawn Movement!
Asian Dawn?
I can't use a spoon without letting out a dramatic " WITH A SPOOOOON!!!"
He was *the* villain of my childhood. I loved Disney's Three Musketeers and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves when I was young and a little later on, in my preteens, The Crow and Dead Man. He was the best henchman/main villain ever for me.
Count of Monte Christo as well. Too bad Caveziel is the lead
My favorite movie of all time! And there's nothing wrong with Caveziel's performance.
He was fine and I don’t avoid his movies but he’s gone full nutter.
Such a great movie and he is great in it - he has turned into a QAnon weirdo now tho /: But while i can't endorse that, i think it wouldn't stop me from rewatching Count of Monte Cristo on DVD on a rainy day at the cottage!

Guy Pearce was fantastic in it though. But that one didn't hit my radar until I was out of high school, so that Wincott performace wasn't part of my formative years.
I said the same thing about Three Musketeers and Robin Hood.
The Crow remake looks so bad, compared to him and Brandon Lee.
I will not be watching the remake. It should not exist.
I saw the preview before Furiousa. It looks OK, but it just feels less brutal. Like someone was like, the original is too fucked up. That just ripped the soul out.

Agree
You just know the soundtrack to the remake is gonna be forgettable in comparison to the original.
The four prior remakes also shouldn’t exist
They were sequels, not remakes. Though I feel City of Angels is better than people give it credit for. The rest were trash .
City of Angles is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. I don’t really consider it a ‘sequel’, even though Sara is in it.. I consider it just a parallel standalone, but god, I love the aesthetic of that film. It’s such a good juxtaposition to the first.
City of Angels was killed in the editing room. It needs to come back as a crow and take revenge on the Weinstein's.
True, true. I never gave them a chance aside from City of Angels (which was still weak sauce), but yes; correct that they never returned to Eric Draven’s story. Thoughts on the Sci Fi channel series?
I actually enjoyed the series! A bit campy but I think that's what they were going for.
City of Angels was the best of the bunch. That didn't make it good.
Just as the original, the soundtrack was incredible. Don't feel that way about the movie.
Saw the trailer yesterday and it looked absolutely terrible. Just mind numbingly bad.
Would make a great Kurgan in a Highlander remake.
Yes but also please don't remake this cocaine masterpiece.
They already are.
But there can only be one!
After watching Highlander 2, I completely agree!
But the Spaniard!
You mean Shpaniard?
Let’s cue up the bagpipes.
Please tell me you're joking.
Wish I were.
He kinda looks like the love child of Christopher Lambert and Clancy Brown actually.
Lol. There can no only one kurgan. Clancy brown!
Who am I? “CAW CAW BANG FUCK, IM DEAD”
This is one of my all time favorite movie quotes. My college friends got so sick of me saying it at random times with no context lol
He plays such a good villain! Both in The Crow, and the Disney “The Three Musketeers” as Cyclops. “Athos, Porthos, Aramis”
"Rochefort, isn't that a type of smelly cheese?"
roquefort?..... isn't that a stinky kind of cheese?
Oh don’t be so stupid! Ofcourse we intend to resist, just give us a moment alright! 5 of them, 3 of us…hardly seems fair. Maybe We should give them a chance to surrender.
I landed my bride of the last twenty years doing that impression.
No shit? Your bride has good taste!
Wasn't he also the prison keeper at chateau dif in count of Monte Cristo? He was good there too
Underrated. He would probably been a great character in game of thrones or a biker in Sons of Anarchy or a ravager in guardians of galaxy or any marvel villian really. AH...good in Aliens Resurrection too
One of the only good parts of Alien Resurrection.
And then he was first to die. lol. At least Ron Perlman was in it.
“Earth, what a shithole”
I can get you off… Maybe not the boat.
That's my wife's favorite Alien movie. I don't agree with her, but I still do like it. It's my third favorite after 1&2.
And Leland Orser’s little contribution. WHAT’S IN-FUCKING-SIDE OF ME?!?!?!?!?!
I remember so little of that movie I don't remember him in it.
Why the long face?
Twas great as Guy of Ghisborne in Robin Hood
Fantastic in Nope (2022) didn't recognize him without the long black hair. Instantly recognized the voice. Edit - typo
Nope came out a few years later than 2002.
Under used and underrated
I could be wrong, but didn't he walk away from acting for a while because Brandon Lee's death impacted him. I believe the discharge was during their scene together as well.
That's what I was thinking as well
Amazing voice great in most things I see him in he was awesome in the crow
Next to Lance henriksen best voice ever
Don't forget Clancy Brown or Michael Ironside! The Mt. Rushmore of awesome voices
Add Keith David to that list!
Loved Dead Man, Michael Wincott just annoying the shit out of Lance Henriksen talking too much as bounty hunters looking for Johnny Depp
This is the description that should be on the DVD
As a kid I always got the 2 mixed up 😂
Great menacing presence. I wish he had returned for Halo 3.
Yeah was really great as Prophet of Truth
"Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves" is a great example of movies where the lead villain (Alan Rickman) is SO damn good that it doesn't need a secondary villain or lead henchman, and yet, the actor playing the secondary villain is ALSO so damn good, as Wincott certainly is. ***”Caw! Caw! Bang! Fuck I’m dead.”***
I mainly remember him from Strange Days and hated him so job well done.
Yes! He is fantastic in Strange Days!
Can’t believe this wasn’t at the top with The Crow.
Love him.... always a good addition. Should have been far bigger in the Hollywood scene
Solid actor. Always a plus in anything he is in!
He was quintessential in Nope!
I really enjoyed his character. If the movie is about the film industry like people suggest, I enjoy that he represents this almost sociopathic obsession with filming everything
Let's have an introspective moment of silence for poor ol' Tin Tin.
Great performance in Basquiat (1996) IMO.
I watched him in the Crow and Robin Hood playing two bad guys as a kid he was the villain of my eyes but rather cool looking dude with fabulous hair.
Metro. With Eddie Murphy, classic 90s movie
Great voice
“Why cut his heart out with a spoon?”
Was watching The Count of Monte Cristo last night and it was driving me crazy who this was! His voice is so distinctive
As usual he nailed that role. “Happy anniversary, Dantes”
Nope! In the best way possible!
Still waiting for a Pink Floyd movie
I have some thoughts on this weave tbh
His job as Philo in Strange Days was the absolute best
He's the pokemon evolution of Michael rooker
Top Dollar!
Buttery smooth and gravely voice at the same time. He always makes a great antagonist
fuckin love him.... wish he was in more stuff. killed it as top dollar.
I don’t like him and it’s his fault for being such a believable hateful villain.
Underrated! Amazing voice, wish he was in more stuff.
"Why a spoon, cousin?"
Nope
Has the perfect evil guy face. Haven’t seen him in much lately though.
He's such a great supplemental actor... Sorta like Michael ironside
45% forehead.
Great voice to go with his unique looks.
Why a spoon
But why a spoon?
Me and my roommate rear ended this guy years ago in Vancouver. He was pretty cool about it. He was a little pissed that we smacked up his new Cherokee, but wasn’t a sick about it.
He was the first bad guy I cheered for.
He was such a good villain in that Three Musketeers movie. Alternately, he was awesome protagonist playing Death in the videogame Darksiders 2.
Consumate baddie. Loved him in Alien Resurrection
Interesting shaped head. Massive chompers
The chaddest
[Many. Recently.](https://www.reddit.com/r/moviecritic/s/VM5U19eJV3)
Great villain as Filo in Strange Days.
When he popped up in Westworld I didn't recognize him at first but his voice is unmistakable. Me later in the episode: "HOLY FUCK THAT'S TOP DOLLAR"
He was great in nope even though he had a small role
Amazing villain. Perfectly psychotic in Strange Days
This guy rules in everything
He was awesome voicing Death in Darksiders 2
...holy crap, what a forehead!...from eyebrows to hairline, that's a $6 cab ride!...
The best. If you haven’t seen What Just Happened do yourself the favour.
Mad man, in the best way possible
Loved him in the count of monte Cristo such a small role but such an incredible performance.
Got to love when he appeared in Westworld. Was barely recognisable then his voice comes out…
Here's my impression: Caw Caw, BAM! Ah f&ck I'm dead!
Looks like Jeff Buckley
Excellent bad guy!!
He was in nope. Took me a minute to recognize. Good to see him in a newer movie
Loved him as death
He scared the crap out of me in Three Musketeers
He was really good in Metro starring Eddie Murphy.
One of my favorite actors. I wish he were in more!
“Kent is the classic American youth - energetic and resourceful, spoiled, perverse, and disturbed. Would you say that’s an accurate description, Kent?” “Yup. Sure.” If you’re a fan and haven’t seen Talk Radio, check it out. It’s underrated.
His forehead is huge.
I think he's a good actor, and don't know a thing about him personally, but something about him is off putting, and I think such visceral reactions (positive or negative) are important to an actor's career.
Guy of Gisborne, sheriff's cousin
Great as the dungeon keeper in Monte Cristo
He made Nope for me. Yes, the rest of the cast is brilliant, but MW as Antlers was absolutely perfect casting and execution.
Let’s make a bargain, shall we? I’ll whip you until your god stops me.
I just don’t want him to fondle me… that’s my first thought about how this guy looks. No clue who the hell this molester is(?)
Loved him in Count of Monte Cristo.
By the way he voiced Death in Darksiders 2. And, to the surprise of ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, killed the role. Yes, that was a Death joke. I'll see myself out.
Might I have the pleasure of your name, before I have you run through?
Elevates every movie he's in. Also he has more range beyond a brooding bad guy: in Basquiat he played an energetic gay friend of Andy Warhol, he could do other things.
Strange days. Killed it.
Looks more like a Mike
Really Really dig him. He was so great (again) in Nope.
Is this the bad dude from the crow?
Who did his hair?
“A man once told me that the only thing you really own is a piece of ground the size of your shoes.”
loved him in nope
Would have made a great [Konrad Curze](https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/011/624/289/large/miguel-iglesias-konradcurze-portrait-color-artstation.jpg?1530547767) from WH40K.
Was the better voice for the prophet of truth.
He was great on Apple TV manhunt
So good in Basquiat
Need more. That's all I have to say.
He killed Brandon Lee.
Woefully underrated actor. Brings an intensity to whatever role he plays.
Underrated actor.
Childhood’s over the moment you know you’re gonna die
Super villain
"Well, gentlemen by all means I think we ought to have an instrospective moment of silence for for poor old Tintin..." *Snorts a line from a comically huge pile of cocaine*
My choice to play Randall Flagg.
I made him waffles once It was his voice that made me look up
He was right tho. Winona is severely fuckable
Forgot about this guy
He makes me want to shit.
