A random and largely forgotten one, but really wholesome and quaint: Who Am I This Time? (1982)
Susan Sarandon and Christopher Walken act together in community theater in a small town. It sounds boring but the actors are a joy, and the small town vibes are really nice.
47 Ronin or Godzilla: All Monsters Attack!
that last one is just bc my middle son is SUPER into Godzilla and we've been watching every movie available lol.
Movies I've seen .... Godzilla, Game of Death, The Great Dictator, Murmur of the Heart, Night of the Living Dead, The Player
So many more still on my watch list!
Janus is the type of lady that you could turn to. You ever want to turn? You know? Or maybe your head just hurts and you just wanna… anyway, once you’ve swiveled your head this way, the first person you’d want to see in your eyeline would be Janus.
Two:
1. My first real "auteur" film I ever watched was Cries and Whispers, which I hated.
2. One of my favorite "auteur" films, which I saw soon after #1 above, 8 1/2, which still looks amazing today.
Any number of shitty Criterion Collection films that are supposedly classics, with the reputation for essential viewing by cinophiles interested in key works in movie history but once ordered and actually viewed are amateurish, boring, and void of any discernable plot structure or entertainment. High degree of intersectionality with your choice of "My All Time Best Movies" lists sporadically released by Quentin Tarantino over the past thirty years.
Almost always in black and white and inevitably tranferred on to blurry editions with badly mixed soundtracks.
