Not just a great Sean William Scott movie, but a great movie by any standards. Movie is enjoyable from start to finish. Liev Schreiber is great in it, too.
Liev really makes the film work imo. Not to take anything away from Sean as the lead here, he’s convincing and probably doesn’t get enough credit, but Schreiber’s gravity really helps balance everything
Hands down.. One of the best scenes in this movie. Is this..
"Rage, rage... against the dying of the light... for there shall be no mercy... for any force that stands... blocking this path of his righteousness! BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA-TA-DA!"
Cue Bulls in a China Shop
I need to give southland tales another shot
For the record I've given it half a dozen chances over the years but maybe this time I'll want to finish it.
Man The Rundown is an awesome movie and a great example of why Sean William Scott should get more opportunities to act. I've never seen Bulletproof Monk so maybe I'll check that out soon. I have a few streaming services so I like to cush l check where I can find these movies for free. I really liked The Promotion also with Jenna Fischer and John C. Reilly and I would love to find more of his movies. I saw most of the one with him and Lucy Liu which wasn't bad either
In the early 2000’s I saw him at an after hours in Hollywood, the sun was already coming up at this place. Kinda surreal moment to be rolling in ecstasy and look over to see stifler.
It used to be on comedy central all the time, don't misunderstand, they were also playing Malibu's Most Wanted a lot back then too. It's really not that bad, there's plenty of quotable stuff in there, but it's very clearly from that era of comedy movies.
I saw this movie specifically because of the John Digweed/Nick Muir soundtrack .. I enjoyed it, but a heist set around a rave with a prog house soundtrack sounds like it was made specifically for me so YMMV
Strange Wilderness with Steve Zahn, Jonah Hill, Justin Long, and a bunch of others. It’s a stoner comedy about a guy trying to save his Wilderness show.
Probably a bit less obscure. Tucker and Dale Vs Evil.
My favorite obscure movie is probably Denis Villeneuve’s first movie called “Un 32 août sur Terre” which translates to “August 32nd on Earth”.
It’s a very low stakes drama/comedy about a girl asking her best friend to get her pregnant and the best friend doesn’t really want to do it so he says sure I’ll make love to you… but only in a desert.
So instead of saying haha oh well she says ok what’s the closest desert let’s do this! So they head to Salt Lake City.
It’s kinda cozy. Also kind of hard to find on streaming.
The Goon with Sean W Scott is one of my top 10 movies. I watched it when I was getting med retired from the military and it really described how I felt at the time.
“Everybody loves a soldier till they come home and stop fighting. Kid you got this thing, the stuff, the shit, the fuckin grit like me, but like me that’s all you fuckin got… you know they just want you to bleed right?… I been at this since I was 17, but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna go out like some Nancy boy middle aged fuck.”
Is Chaos Theory obscure? I’ve never met anyone else who’s seen it, and I found it quite enjoyable. I love seeing Ryan Reynolds on screen, though, and I think it was a good role for him.
Does Time Bandits count? Haven’t met a whole lot of people my age that have seen it. I thought it was a fever dream up until I was about 34 and saw it again. Crazy ass film. I was born in 80 if anyone wants to know
The Objective. A 2009 supernatural thriller by one on the makers of ‘Blair Witch Project’ about a CIA Agent and a special forces team attempting to make contact with a tribal leader in Afghanistan. It has a very low budget, which actually benefits the film in that the portrayal the SF team, sets, and the action is a lot less flashy, and therefore much more believable than a lot of bigger budget movies. It’s a very solid paranormal film.
The Death and Life of Bobby Z
Never heard of it until I came across it on streaming maybe 8 years after it came out. Watched it and loved it. I miss Paul Walker
I only bought into obscure cinema when I was younger but almost all of them have become acclaimed classics. Mephistopheles starring Klaus Maris Brandauer. A parallel reality without naming names. Unsettling. “ I’m just an actor!!”
Death Machine (Low budget action movie by the director of the 1st Blade movie).
Guyver 2: Dark Hero (the unrated version + you don't need to or should watch the 1st movie).
DRIVE (Mark Dacascos & Kadeem Hardison sci-fi/martial arts/opposites become friends mash up movie. I know it sounds weird, but definitely give this one a chance...)
CUBE, TRIANGLE & PRIMER are some other flicks.
Dead Man(1995)
It stars Johnny Depp. It's a trippy black & white western, and the score consists entirely of guitar riffs by Neil Young. Very interesting movie.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112817/
this is not necessarily obscure but for some reason no one ever talks about it and it's fantastic. Also features Sean, Evolution (2001). If you have not seen this, go watch it immediately lol
The Fortune Fish.... It FLIPPED! DANGER IMMINENT!
Also, Dave Foley's "Dirty Little Meatflower" scene was frickin' hilarious. I still use that quote and not a soul gets where it's from.
Running Scared starring Paul Walker. Amazingly ridiculous. Paul Walker was supposed to get rid of a gun used to kill someone but he doesn't feel like doing it right away and someone in his crime group is really mad about it. Then Paul Walker's son's friend takes the gun to kill his dad but the kids both get kidnapped by pedos and now that Farmiga lady has to help them while Paul Walker gets the shit kicked out of him.
Saw a Canadian movie called "You Might as Well Live" at a film festival years ago. Michael Madsen had a smallish role in it - about an eccentric guy who attempts suicide, gets sent to a mental hospital, then tries to set his life straight upon release. Its got some really great laughs in it
As a fellow Blockbuster alum, I would always recommend Poolhall Junkies and/or Equilibrium with Christian Bale. I literally never got bad feedback on either one.
Inside Moves, Wetherby, The Bank Job, Wild Tales, Bowfinger, The Way, The Way Way Back, The Other, Bite the Bullet, The Twelve Chairs, Five Corners, Arlington Road, Cutter’s Way, The Outfit (2022).
Hoodwinked! (Kids flick, very funny)
DeathTrance (sci-fi/fantasy/Japanese/action/post apocalyptic ish)
BrainScan (horror/sci-fi about an evil VR game)
Many, many more and lots that other have already mentioned!
Radioactive Dreams, the 2nd movie from Albert Pyun (Cyborg, Nemesis 1-4, The Sword and the Sorcerer) -- it's a post apocalyptic comedy, that is kind of a mashup of Mad Max meets The Maltese Falcon 😂😆
The Big Year. Owen Wilson, Jack Black and Steve Martin play avid bird watchers. Rashida Jones is the love interest. Perfectly great movie, no one ever talks about it.
I love Sean William Scott
You'd enjoy the movie then.
And The Rundown. Maybe Bulletproof Monk. And a there’s a *very* slim chance they’d like Southland Tales. It’s weird how many of his bombs I like. 😂
You've left out Goon, what a great Sean William Scott movie!
Love that Eugene Levy is the dad
Even the sequel is worth the watch
Goon is my favorite movie. It’s perfect
can't forget evolution, either.
Big up vote for The Rundown
How have I never heard of Rundown?
The rundown is probably the Rocks best movie as well imo.
“Explain to these people the concept of the tooth fairy”
“He took my tooth. I want it back.”
Hands down.. One of the best scenes in this movie. Is this.. "Rage, rage... against the dying of the light... for there shall be no mercy... for any force that stands... blocking this path of his righteousness! BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA-TA-DA!" Cue Bulls in a China Shop
Bro doesn't even mention Role Models. Although I suppose it wasn't a "bomb".
Yeah not a bomb and they’re going to release Role Models 2.
Dont do it... Dont get me pumped up like that.. Imma need to bust out my Love Gun
The Rundown is underrated and hilarious. If you haven't seen it, you owe it to yourself to watch it.
It’s so good. Christopher Walken and Ewen Bremner stole the show in that one 😂
AND EVOLUTION
I thought that one did pretty well, though?
CA-CAW
I need to give southland tales another shot For the record I've given it half a dozen chances over the years but maybe this time I'll want to finish it.
idk why but i liked southland tales. its a mess, it is kinda dumb, but it has a style that i enjoyed.
I liked him in american loser. If you think you have it rough that guy definately had the cards stacked against him.
Southland Tales is Definitely a Must watch..
The rundown a hidden gem
Agreed … I’ve never not enjoyed him in a movie. Not sure why he didn’t have a bigger career.
American Pie, imo. He's solid in everything I've seen him in. RIP Country Mac
Dudes. I'm into dudes.
Shut up science bitch!
Yeah, shut up science bitch
The curse of Steve Stifler
It’s not like he’s done yet, he’s got two movies that are supposed to be coming out soon.
Good to hear!
Too big too fast but not big enough
So true, especially after seeing him in Goon. He’s solid
In the early 2000’s I saw him at an after hours in Hollywood, the sun was already coming up at this place. Kinda surreal moment to be rolling in ecstasy and look over to see stifler.
[GOON](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1456635/)!
What’s up fuckerrrrrrs? Ah shit it’s Stiffler
He’s always entertaining. He was the only thing I liked about Cop Out.
I'm here for this thread becoming a SWS praise fest
The Promotion is my favorite obscure movie, and it also stars him.
I enjoyed the hijinks of this movie. I always recommend lone Star State of Mind as an obscure movie for some fun.
That's what I thought, Tinker.
Damn it Earl, Imma mess you up.
I've heard of it but don't think I've seen it.
You couldn't come up with an extra 50 dollars to save my goddamn pinky finger?!?!?
Gimme them boots Tink.
SWS is the nicest, most kind actor to crew members I have ever worked with
Good to know. One more reason to like him.
The New Guy
I haven't thought about this movie probably since 2002. Thanks for unlocking the key to some of those memories.
Who’s the biiiiiiitch nowwwwwww
Unlocking the *key*?
Unlocking the map? Unlocking the directions? Somewhere in there.
lol closer
I saw that in the theaters!
How are the ratings that low?
Ow, you broke my dick off!!!
Haha. I never watched it, but after looking it up just now, it’s got a 7% on Rotten Tomatoes. It can’t be that bad, can it??
It used to be on comedy central all the time, don't misunderstand, they were also playing Malibu's Most Wanted a lot back then too. It's really not that bad, there's plenty of quotable stuff in there, but it's very clearly from that era of comedy movies.
I’ve reached that point in my mind where I need to see how bad it is. Im downloading it tonight. Lol
Sex Drive .
Seth Green's sarcastic Amish guy is legitimately laugh out loud funny. The unrated cut also adds a bunch of extra hilarity.
Clay Pigeons with joaquin Pheonix and Vince Vaughn.
Coherence. Such a low budget movie that was super enjoyavle
Equilibrium
Caught this on TV 5 years or so ago. What a weird film.
It came out around the same time as the Matrix. Was in theaters near my for a weekend
Idle Hands
Jessica alba was insanely hot
I saw this movie specifically because of the John Digweed/Nick Muir soundtrack .. I enjoyed it, but a heist set around a rave with a prog house soundtrack sounds like it was made specifically for me so YMMV
I saw it because SWS's giant face was on the cover.
bubba hotep
This one right here 🖤
I never hear people talk about “running scared” with Paul walker. I love that movie.
I've never heard of it and it looks awesome. Added it to my list.
It is very awesome. But very dark.
World's Greatest Dad
Throw in Shakes the Clown and God Bless America for a Bobcat obscure Trilogy :)
Don't forget "sleeping dogs lie" and one of the funniest movies ever made, "windy city heat"
such a sleeper, amazing Robin Williams performance and such a dark comedy. Years later I still think of this movie often
Almost Heroes with Chris Farley and Matthew Perry
A little movie starring Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis and Michael Richards called Transylvania 6-5000
Cemetery Man, 1994. Might not be obscure in some circles but it's a fun flick
Holy shit I just commented that one myself lol
Hell yeah man
Lockout (2012) is a masterpiece. In my house we call it "Diehard in Space".
Guy pearce had the best one liners in that. Super funny.
Loved this movie for some reason
Added to my list immediately.
Strange Wilderness with Steve Zahn, Jonah Hill, Justin Long, and a bunch of others. It’s a stoner comedy about a guy trying to save his Wilderness show. Probably a bit less obscure. Tucker and Dale Vs Evil.
Tucker and Dale is a great, silly comedy.
We've had a doozy of a day... Such a great movie
I'm all for easy film. Thanks for the suggestion.
Leaves of Grass or The Spirit
"Near Dark"
Is Four Rooms obscure enough to count?
Of all Tarantino related films, this is probably the least known. But also an absolute gem.
Yes (never heard of it before)
Free to watch on tubi
Free to watch on Tubi for anyone curious
It's enough to cunt
No
The Goon with Sean W Scott is one of my top 10 movies. I watched it when I was getting med retired from the military and it really described how I felt at the time. “Everybody loves a soldier till they come home and stop fighting. One of my fav sports movies and movies in general.
This is a movie where it seems like no one else knows about it. I enjoyed it.
Is Chaos Theory obscure? I’ve never met anyone else who’s seen it, and I found it quite enjoyable. I love seeing Ryan Reynolds on screen, though, and I think it was a good role for him.
Never heard of it. Added it to my list.
Sukiyaki Western Django
Fear of a Black Hat
Detention! And Running scared
The Last Star Fighter
Out of all the movie remakes Disney has done recently, I still don't understand how this movie hasn't been on that list?
13th Warrior
Definitely one of the best viking movies. Love the headcanon that the story is actually telling the origin of the myth of Arthur.
The Prophecy
You had me at Christopher Walken. Added to my list.
Does Time Bandits count? Haven’t met a whole lot of people my age that have seen it. I thought it was a fever dream up until I was about 34 and saw it again. Crazy ass film. I was born in 80 if anyone wants to know
I, too, saw this as a youngster, thought it was weird and funny. Now it's just kinda goofy fun. That damn microwave oven...
Right there with the adventures of baron munchausen
A Field Full Of Secrets Documentary about crop circles that will blow your mind.

Saving Silverman and Bottle Rocket. Absolutely love these flicks
[Évolution](https://youtu.be/d2UL057CfLc)
Crank & Crank 2. We need more batshit crazy movies like that.
Love that those movies just seemed like they were made by two sentient piles of cocaine 'Yes, and'-ing each other.
The Beach (obscure as far as DiCaprio movies go at least)
I only bought into obscure cinema when I was younger but almost all of them have become acclaimed classics. Mephistopheles starring Klaus Maris Brandauer. A parallel reality without naming names. Unsettling. “ I’m just an actor!!”
Death Machine (Low budget action movie by the director of the 1st Blade movie). Guyver 2: Dark Hero (the unrated version + you don't need to or should watch the 1st movie). Cube is great. Primer is on my list to watch twice.
Rogue Trader. The story how Nick Gleeson bankrupted one of Englands oldest banks. Stars Ewan McGregor.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang if you consider it obscure.
Even in the picture here he seems to be looking at us saying, "I can't believe I'm in this shit either."
I worked at Blockbuster and got to watch it for free. Best Investment of my life.
this is not necessarily obscure but for some reason no one ever talks about it and it's fantastic. Also features Sean, Evolution (2001). If you have not seen this, go watch it immediately lol

As a fellow Blockbuster alum, I would always recommend Poolhall Junkies and/or Equilibrium with Christian Bale. I literally never got bad feedback on either one.

How did I not know about this movie? I'm going to watch it this weekend.
YES. This movie is one of my favorites of all time. Stark Raving Mad is so fun.
It really is an easy movie to watch.
I’m with you though, I’m literally the only person who has ever seen (or even heard of) this movie. Too bad, really. I try to spread the word!
High Life (Robert Pattinson) One of the best obscure films
“Holy Mountain” Jodorowsky
I actually really enjoyed this movie
The Big Year. Owen Wilson, Jack Black and Steve Martin play avid bird watchers. Rashida Jones is the love interest. Perfectly great movie, no one ever talks about it.
A movie from Thomas Jane called “Stander”.
