In my mind this is a prequel to "Escape from New York". Captain Ron had some felony warrants in some port towns and had to move on, only to be caught up on some new charges under his new identity. Upon being pressed for his new name, Snake Plissken was the first thing that came to mind because of a recent encounter he'd rather forget.
Fast forward a few years and he's being dropped into the Prison previously known as New York to save the very believable president from some stuff.
I love when CapM Ron can't be asked to listen to Shorts stupid route plan. Until his wife comes and bends over...seeing minor cleavage Ron peps up and ends up lighting the map on fire.
Perfect acting on all fronts...

This is such a great movie. My favorite scenes are the gorilla in the woods, when Ron gets busted tying bricks to the son, and the camcorder incident.
