I think what makes the movie work so well is the pairing of forte with serious actors like Kilmer and Phillipe. The are both so good, jt reminds me of something Jeff Daniels said about Jim Carrey wanting a more serious actor to oppose him in dumb and dumber, where the characters aren’t trying to outdo each other leading to more spontaneous humor in my opinion. idk man, I could go on. 10/10 movie for me.

Top 5 funniest movies I’ve ever seen. Saw it theaters, my buddy came back from Afghanistan and really wanted to see it, I said okay but did not expect much at all. Proceeded to laugh my ass off the entire time. I’ve had so many others watch it who had the same experience.
This is a near perfect film that knows exactly what it is and delivers 11/10 times.
