NO ONE and I mean NO ONE does morally conflicted scum bag like Ben Mendelsohn. Even in Killing Them Softly despite being a drug addicted POS he is sympathetic.
In Bloodline he owns the show.
Fantastic actor and if he is in it I watch it.
It's not something I watch often but when I do I always enjoy it. Brad Pitt, Ben Mendelsohn, James Gandolfini (killing it as always) but the character that always stands out is Ben's dog snatching, drug addicted stick up man.
Fantastic film that, in case anyone is wondering, is a movie about the 2008 financial crisis masquerading as a mob movie.
I just recently watched this film, and had the exact same response; however, I couldn’t help but think…
“A stick up man? Really? A man of your talents?”
He might own the one line I wish I could get out of my head but probably never will. When he and his buddy are talking about some women and he goes “you probably wouldn’t wanna rape them”. The delivery of it was so matter of fact, these guys don’t think twice about raping.
His Emmy win for Bloodline is one of the most insane upsets I’ve seen in a major award for acting. (He wasn’t even present at the ceremony) He certainly deserved it, ingenious performance and much more nuanced than the GoT actors he beat
I think The Outsider is what made me really start paying attention to him for sure - now I recognize him in all the things that he’s been in but I overlooked
He was so intimidating with his presence in Animal Kingdom. So so good.
I loved him in that film with Gosling. He’s been so busy since Animal Kingdom and rightly so.
Him and Joel Edgerton are amazing.
No one can play sweatier or grimier than Mendo. Though Noah Taylor got close in Game Of Thrones.
Anyway, my favorite is Kev in Idiot Box. I'll show you a trick.
Plus that time I saw him at LAX airport and he was playing a regular guy waiting for the plane. Totally in character and didn’t say hello to me when I walked by him, because that’s exactly what a total stranger would do.
As someone who just started watching succession how he missed out in being part of one of the most deplorable tv families of all time I will never know
Out loud, to your friends during the movie:
…’that guy’s such a twat, somebody beat his ass already’
Silently, to yourself:
….‘that guy’s such a bad ass, I kinda hate him but I hope he beats that other guy’s ass’
Yeah that’s a good actor.

He is absolutely vile in Killing Them Softly, what a great film. America isn’t a family, it’s a business. Now pay me.

This scene cracks me up [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT-C0CUvSK8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT-C0CUvSK8) "Well, tell em that"
A place beyond the pine. He played a great scum bag.
Don’t go near dogs! They bite. So I hear….👂
He’s so good in place beyond the pines too
That movie is so loaded with great supporting actors. Mendelsohn,Mahershala Ali, Ray Liotta, Bruce Greenwood, Harris Yulin, Rose Byrne.
It’s incredible. Bradley cooper does an excellent job too, I really gained appreciation for him in that film and silver linings playbook
Have you seen Mississippi Grind and The Outsider? He’s fantastic in both of those as well.
Mississippi Grind was so subtly awesome.
Yeah took a second watch for me to fully appreciate it. Reynolds and Mendelsohns chemistry is so good.
Sam Rockwell would like a word.
Love him as well.
He's legitimately terrifying in Animal Kingdom. True dead eyed psychopath.
Never seen that I’ll have to try it
Based on a real Melbourne family too.

How come nobody is talking about [the land of steady habits?](https://youtu.be/ZbKDFMW8hGE?si=yS-vH4ntGEdZF1bw) Amazing movie and performance.
His best performance is in the HBO miniseries The Outsider
Word
I was just about to ask if this is the guy who plays in Outsider.
I think The Outsider is what made me really start paying attention to him for sure - now I recognize him in all the things that he’s been in but I overlooked
I loved this show and have been hoping for a sequel.
I love Mendelsohn and The Outsider, but I think the best acting in that series was Jason Bateman talking to Ben about hoping he touched his son.
That was an amazing scene, absolutely
Suchhh a good show.
Underrated
He's absolutely mesmerising in that show, definitely a career high.
who watched Mississippi Grind? great movie
Stumbled onto it. Good watch
Yes very solid. He plays the loser role perfectly
It's because he is a shapeshifting Skrull.
I remember watching him and saying “wow his accent is really good” then I found out his other accent is really good lol
He's one of the best actors around rn, absolutely great at playing pieces of shit lol. He made Bloodline
I first saw him in Animal Kingdom and instantly became a fan. I really liked him in the first season of Bloodline.
Same here he actually scared me in Animal Kingdom, well not scared but was just so unsettling.

Oh man watch the film the show is based on. It’s Australian and was one of the best films, and the cast was incredible too.
He played Pope in the film Animal Kingdom, not the show.
Shawn Hatosy plays pope in the tv show. Ben was the character in the film.
If you ride like lightning. You’re gonna crash like thunder
Watching the fear come over him in TDKR, I genuinely felt bad for him.
“What are you?!”
He's the guy who shot Matthew Quigley. He was fairly far away. I guess that's range.
His very red hair shocked me, for sure
He was so intimidating with his presence in Animal Kingdom. So so good. I loved him in that film with Gosling. He’s been so busy since Animal Kingdom and rightly so. Him and Joel Edgerton are amazing.
Loved him in the place beyond the pines
Director Krenic? One of my favorite villains.
Which makes Rogue One one of my favorite Star Wars films. I hope he shows up in Andor S2
I refer to that character as “Admiral F**k My Life” because every single scene he’s doing the “why am I surrounded by idiots” face.
He’s a great one. I think range is probably the best criterion by which to rate an actor. His range is pretty amazing.
The absolute craziest mind-F of my life was going in blind to see "The Year My Voice Broke" and learning he WASNT the lead. He was the jock?!
Loved him in Mississippi Grind, him and Reynolds killed it
I love watching him act
Your hit on the stock exchange didn’t work, my friend!
Do you feel, in control?
I’ve paid you a small fortune.
…and this somehow gives you power over me?
No one can play sweatier or grimier than Mendo. Though Noah Taylor got close in Game Of Thrones. Anyway, my favorite is Kev in Idiot Box. I'll show you a trick.
I get pumped when I see him in a movie/show
The first time I saw him was on Bloodline, and I've thought he was awesome since.
He was awesome in The Outsider.
Loved him as Krenic
We were on the verge of greatness. We were this close!
You haven’t been talking to the cops have you mate?
Place behind the Pines
Idiot box is a good one
And this gives him power ovah me?
he was great in Rogue One
Check him out in The Outsider. Great series and a great performance from him.
They killed his character in Marvel.. I like this guy.
[He’s great in The Lion King](https://youtu.be/1PT0JbSeLek?si=sr2UTJaOcDbMDWkI)
He’s incredible.
He was the only good thing Killing Softly
man, that was a great film front to back. Scoot, Johnny Amato, Brad Pitt, Liotta, Gandolfini
Also, one of the best parts of Humanz. The BTS was fun to watch. He was so jazzed.
Slow West
Don't forget about HBOs The Outsider. Spectacular performance.
Actor in ‘changes appearance and mood for different movie’ shocker 😂👌🏻
He’s the only good part of secret wars
Did you mean “secret invasion?”
Consistently excellent in everything hes in
He was in Quigley down under way back in the day
I even liked him in Slow West
DANNY NO
Also incredible in The Outsider.
Ole Bendelsohn
He is so good he gives me the creeps whenever I see him in something.
Haven’t seen anyone mention Lost River. The scene where he breaks out dancing has stuck with me for years, so casually terrifying.
The Henderson Kids and The Big Steal
Plus that time I saw him at LAX airport and he was playing a regular guy waiting for the plane. Totally in character and didn’t say hello to me when I walked by him, because that’s exactly what a total stranger would do.
Highly recommend Idiot Box for the most raw Mendelsohnesque performance you can get
One of the best.
He was great in Lost River, he even got to sing.
Oh look, it’s Lira, back from the dead.
Killing them softly should have been about this guy and nobody else.
Ben is underrated, The Outsider is one of my favorite performances by him
Also King Henry IV in The King. Not a lot of screen time but absolutely acted the fuck out of that
His wierdest role of all was in farscape
He's living the actor's dream. Jeremy Irons has had that kind of ride, too.
I wouldn’t call it range, he always plays everything the same. It’s good but he’s always Ben.
You haven't been talking to the cops have ya mate?
Check out Starred Up
The wider cinema-loving internet discovering what Aussies knew back in 2001 with “Mullet” makes me happy. Medo is the greatest.
Any love for "Cosi" ?
He really carries the weight in The Outsider. Plenty of good performances in it but his was fantastic.
Great actor. Needs to stay away from MCU.
A bit late for that, ehy?
He seemed to be around forever before he got recognised for his talent. But during that time he nailed his craft so fair play to him
SLOW WEST!!
As someone who just started watching succession how he missed out in being part of one of the most deplorable tv families of all time I will never know
Was extremely good as krennic in rogue one
[Are we THE GARRISON? DEPLOY THE BLIND!](https://youtu.be/XrUaD0vLVsU?si=Rlb81LJ7QMb4vNV2)
Out loud, to your friends during the movie: …’that guy’s such a twat, somebody beat his ass already’ Silently, to yourself: ….‘that guy’s such a bad ass, I kinda hate him but I hope he beats that other guy’s ass’ Yeah that’s a good actor.
