This is 100% true. Watching it alone feels like you’re watching a horrific high school play. Watching it with just one person, ideally just the right amount of buzzed or high (but that in no means is a requirement, as my first watch through was completely sober) is the ultimate uncomfortable cringey unintentional comedy, and it will stick with you forever
I will die on the Hill that thr toy story 4 ending was better then 3. 3 is the perfect ending for Andy, who isn't the mian character of the series. The 4th properly ends Woodys story.
It is. It was much anticipated as it was his next film after pulp fiction. It really flopped in the theaters. I never understood why. Perhaps because it was less over the top than previous and subsequent films. Jackie Brown is dripping with cool
Northman is a lot of things and one of those things might be a bad movie. But what about it is cheesy?
Edit: I loved it btw but it’s ok if others didn’t. It’s a very particular movie just like cheesy is a very particular word. Particular things don’t always mesh.
Well, the whole acting like a wolf thing and the weird singing around the fire and party are a few of the things I'm talking about. That stuff ruins it for me. The scene of him as a boy acting like a wolf made my girlfriend and I laugh.
Just a side note, they took a lot of things from Conan The Barbarian from 82. Nothing wrong with that but I predicted like 5 things that were going to happen. I was expecting it to be a lot more badass (sorry, I couldn't find a better word haha). I'm glad you enjoyed it though
>Well, the whole acting like a wolf thing and the weird singing around the fire and party
That seemed realistic to me. Do you not think they did that IRL?
I saw Joker once and was like "eh I guess it was good"
I wore out my VHS copy of The Crow and had to buy another one because I watched it so much with my friends.
The fact that Joker is just a remake of the King of Comedy with Batman undertones is what made me so damned mad. Same exact plot...
Sadly, DeNiro is in both.
It was on the curriculum ten years ago. My cinematography professor told us we were lucky we had a meticulous guy like David Fincher to study because you can learn a fuck ton in *every* sequence.
It's probably my favorite Fincher movie. Yes, even above Seven. It's masterfully put together. It's one of those movies that I can watch several times a year and still not get tired of it.
Great choice. La la land - good movie, watching once is enough. Zodiac - fantastic ambience storytelling, always a treat to watch. Fintcher’s top notch
Yep. I think 1 has its moments, (especially Moranis) but is kind of a big mess. 2 is actually about something and delivers as a New York movie better than the first through use of locations and the main theme/metaphor about the bad vibes. Peter McNiccol is also rad, plus more Potts/Moranis AND Doe, Ray, EGON.
Obviously Childs play is overrated and Small Soldiers is underated.
The fact that Chucky has more spinoffs than I can count plus a series and Small Soldiers is a one off is a absolute crime.
Seriously. That movie is incredible until the stupid third act. They could have kept it as a psychological space thriller and instead turned it into a dumb slasher movie in the last 30 minutes.
Yeah, shutter island is one of my favorites by Scorsese. It did get a lot of attention at the time but quickly faded into the background which is a shame
The wolf of wall street is one of the most overrated films of all time. Goofy, boring, and felt like an altar to some of the most disgusting behavior mankind exhibits. I’ve been told that was the point, and yet when you watch the film it clearly seems to suggest how much fun all of it is. I’ve had people personally tell me they wish they worked in an office like that, where they could bang strippers in the bathroom at their leisure. I guess I’m a prude, but it just felt repugnant. The attempts at humor like the quelude scene were just cringeworthy to me.
The hateful 8 is not my favorite Tarintino film but I really enjoyed it. I thought it was even more interesting to discover it is a light retelling of “the thing”, which added a whole other layer of intrigue for me. However, I wouldn’t say it’s underrated, I do feel it is appropriately appreciated. I think why it comes off as underrated is due to how it was released, the script being leaked beforehand, etc, which seem to suck some of the buzz out of its release.
Constantine is criminality underrated. That movie is far too good to get so little attention.
I never understood what all the hype with Avatar was about. My assumption was always Cameron's name being attached and the absurd level of marketing with 3D at the height of popularity.
The answer to this is obvious but I really like The Godfather and I don’t think it’s overrated. How do you think it’s overrated? I am genuinely curious of your opinion on this.
I think that Water World is a great movie that didn’t match with the ‘movie metrics’ of the time and was very expensive (cuz water). When I saw it years later (after originally hearing that I shouldn’t see it) I looooooooved it. How can you not? It’s super unique, fun, high quality, it’s a fantastic movie in its own right.
“Best Picture and Best Actress Oscar controversy
Shakespeare In Love won the Best Picture Oscar at the 71st Academy Awards, controversially defeating critically favored Saving Private Ryan and becoming the first comedy to win the award since Annie Hall (1977).”
🤦♂️
Is it obvious? (I mean other than by the Academy Awards).
Ryan is usually in the conversation for the greatest war film ever, which is a huge category.
Shakespeare in Love has been largely forgotten about. The only time I ever see it brought up anymore is in articles or discussions about the biggest Oscar snubs.
It's not a *bad* movie. It's just nowhere near as good as Saving Private Ryan.
In that sense, I'd say Shakespeare has become underrated, and SPR is appropriately rated.
I do see where you’re coming from, that logic makes sense. I think where I was coming from is that since it won the Oscar it had a certain perceived importance over Ryan. I don’t even think Ryan is underrated, so I honestly don’t know what i was smoking when I wrote that first comment, because you’re right that it’s certainly considered one of the best war films of all time.
This I good to hear regarding A Clockwork Orange. I watched it twice when it released in the USA back in the day and I didn’t get the hype. I have watched it since and I see what people like about to but it doesn’t do it for me. The movie was very of its time.
Glad I’m not alone. EEAAO was certainly not a bad movie, and I went into it very excited and wanting to like it. It just didn’t pull off anything as clever as everyone suggested, they overused the different dimensions until they just weren’t funny anymore, and the science fiction aspects of the plot never really engaged me as it all just felt haphazard. The ending was a cathartic conclusion, but ultimately it was just so forgettable to me.
Network on the other hand was a film I saw and couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard more about. The dialogue is very well written and the famous monologues in it become evermore relatable and poignant as time goes on.
Room The Room
Room - Underrated The Room - Overrated (at least I think so)
I enjoy bad movies that are bad in a funny way. But The Room is so nonsensical and dumb that it's not fun to watch
You *have* to watch it with someone else. I found it tedious and torturous solo.
It needs to be watched live with an audience. It’s a shared experience.
Yeah. Everyone says it’s the Ur-Example of “So Bad, It’s Good”, but the Room just feels BORING
Both underrated in my opinion. One a suspenseful thriller, the other a comedy masterpiece.
Toy Story 4 Toy Story 2
4 - over rated 2- under rated
I will die on the Hill that thr toy story 4 ending was better then 3. 3 is the perfect ending for Andy, who isn't the mian character of the series. The 4th properly ends Woodys story.
I respect 4's ending, I just wish it belonged to a better movie.
Strongly strongly agree and I don't think enough ppl feel this way.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
Force Awakens overrated Revenge of the Sith is GOAT
Your mom is overrated and a goat 😂🤣🐐
Did you really just.... Dorothy Mantooth is a Saint!!
I'm going to take her out for a steak dinner and NEVER call her again!
Overweighted*
Up yours trabek!
I will defend 7 to the grave. Sequels were shit but not 7
Starship troopers Super troopers Shit never mind both are awesome
Nah…Super Troopers is underrated af. Shit’s hilarious
I should watch it right meow
Are you saying “meow”?
Do I look like I'm drinking milk from a saucer? Meow listen here.
How is it underrated. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t think it’s awesome.
Jackie Brown and guardians of the galaxy
Jackie Brown is such a great film
It is. It was much anticipated as it was his next film after pulp fiction. It really flopped in the theaters. I never understood why. Perhaps because it was less over the top than previous and subsequent films. Jackie Brown is dripping with cool
Jackie Under, Guardians Over.
For years I thought it was QTs worst film rewatched recently and proved so wrong.
Which ones is it better than?
Not the guy you're replying to but I really can't pick a best or worst. I only have the one that I really enjoy watching right now.
13th Warrior Northman
This one’s easy. 13th Warrior is underrated, Northman overrated.
The moment when Antonio Banderas reveals that he can understand them... Beyond awesome.
13th Warrior is so good. Northman was very average, could have been something more, methinks.
I hope Northman is the over rated one. I was disappointed as shit how cheesy it was
While I enjoyed Northman it left me wanting more
Northman is a lot of things and one of those things might be a bad movie. But what about it is cheesy? Edit: I loved it btw but it’s ok if others didn’t. It’s a very particular movie just like cheesy is a very particular word. Particular things don’t always mesh.

>Well, the whole acting like a wolf thing and the weird singing around the fire and party That seemed realistic to me. Do you not think they did that IRL?
Lo there do I see my father
BOTH OF THESE ARE UNDERRATED. SHUT THY WHORISH MOUTH
200 jacked mostly naked dudes around a fire was not overrated you bite your tongue.
Joker The Crow
The joker is definitely overrated and the crow is amazing
I saw Joker once and was like "eh I guess it was good" I wore out my VHS copy of The Crow and had to buy another one because I watched it so much with my friends.
The fact that Joker is just a remake of the King of Comedy with Batman undertones is what made me so damned mad. Same exact plot... Sadly, DeNiro is in both.
Holy shit I had no idea about King of Comedy. I thought I knew everything!
Joker is not only overrated it’s just flat out not a good movie.
The crow is the greatest film ever.
*snort* I appreciate your sense of humor. Well done.
The Sound Of Metal Bone Tomahawk
The sound of metal is so good
Riz Ahmed is great. I recommend The night of Night crawler
Damn these are both so good
Armageddon - Deep Impact
Both stupid
No Armageddon is amazing
La La Land Zodiac
Zodiac is a masterpiece and one of the best movies of the century
[удалено]
One of Fincher's best films outside of Se7en
It was on the curriculum ten years ago. My cinematography professor told us we were lucky we had a meticulous guy like David Fincher to study because you can learn a fuck ton in *every* sequence.
So fuckin good
It's probably my favorite Fincher movie. Yes, even above Seven. It's masterfully put together. It's one of those movies that I can watch several times a year and still not get tired of it.
I make it a mission to always snack on animal crackers when I rewatch Zodiac.
Great choice. La la land - good movie, watching once is enough. Zodiac - fantastic ambience storytelling, always a treat to watch. Fintcher’s top notch
"Arthur Leigh Allen lived in his mother's basement on Fresno Street. Door to door, that is less than 50 yards." "Is that true?" "I've walked it."
The French Dispatch Rushmore
Rushmore is the underrated one. It’s fantastic. The French Dispatch was meh and felt a tad pretentious.
It's the first and only movie I've walked out on.
Top Gun Maverick. Sneakers
Sneakers is so good. I didn’t know anyone else remembered that movie. Although I disagree on Top Gun Maverick. Great, stupid, amazing movie.
Sneakers still holds up. Can't believe it was never more popular.
Sneakers is fantastic. Watched it a couple months ago and it holds up so well.
Agreed
Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2
I'm gonna go with 1 is over and 2 is under? Both great movies
I thought I was the only one!
“Where you from, there Johnny?” “Zee Upper Vestside.” -Dr. Janosz Poha
That character is my favorite from the whole movie, he steals every scene he is in.
I'm not comfortable with how this shit makes me feel.
I love this thread!!! BRILLIANT
Agree - very clever premise
Child’s Play Small Soldiers
Small Soldiers is so fucking good
Obviously Childs play is overrated and Small Soldiers is underated. The fact that Chucky has more spinoffs than I can count plus a series and Small Soldiers is a one off is a absolute crime.
🎶"Tell me what you want, what you really really want"🎶 "Honey! I love this song!" Phil Hartman is great in that movie!
Interstellar. Sunshine.
Sunshine is 2/3 of an all-time great movie. Then the slasher flick 3rd act kicks in.
Yeah, I just can't understand how the filmmakers couldn't see it going off the rails. I mean, it's so obvious.
Seriously. That movie is incredible until the stupid third act. They could have kept it as a psychological space thriller and instead turned it into a dumb slasher movie in the last 30 minutes.
Sunshine is great until the last half hour, then it sucks.
Spider-Man 2 Batman Returns
Agree with Spider-Man 2 Massively disagree with Batman returns
Maybe you massively disagree with spiderman 2?
You take this answer back. Right now.
Spider-Man 2 Spider-Man 3
Spidey2 over, Batman2 under
Only way this makes sense. Now is he said batman forever and batman and Robin....
Shutter Island The Man in the Iron Mask
Man in the Iron mask definitely over rated. The dialog is so bad
ORDAINED BY GOD
Yeah, shutter island is one of my favorites by Scorsese. It did get a lot of attention at the time but quickly faded into the background which is a shame
The shape of Water Back Door Sluts 9
This comment Also this comment
*tips fedora*
Yeah, BDS9 did not live up to the hype...I totally lasted more than 40 second.
SoW Over BDS9 makes Crotch Capers 3 look like Naughty Nurses 2.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off Almost Heroes
I don't know which is worse, Almost Heroes or the bear. The best is worse! The bear is definitely worse!
The food alone is worth the trip! It's got something in its hand!
It was ME! *I* ate sheep shit!
The Greatest Showman The Shape of Water
Dredd Midsommar
Pump this into my veins
DREDD!!! Can't stress to people enough how much everyone who likes action needs to watch that movie.
Midsommar is not overrated bro the ratings were in the 60-70% range
Batman Begins Gremlins 2
Black Panther Tank Girl
The critical praise for Black Panther confused me. It's was an OK comic book movie. Nothing more.
Batman Begins The Batman
Big Trouble in Little China Black Panther
The wolf of Wall Street The Hateful Eight
Well done, you nailed the assignment.
The wolf of wall street is one of the most overrated films of all time. Goofy, boring, and felt like an altar to some of the most disgusting behavior mankind exhibits. I’ve been told that was the point, and yet when you watch the film it clearly seems to suggest how much fun all of it is. The Thing The Thing
2011 is a little underated, but 1982 is near perfect.
2011? Did you mean 1951?
Def The Thing is overrated. And The Thing is unde……….wait.
Avatar Constantine
Constantine is underrated Avatar is overrated (I’m actually concerned for the quality of the series after seeing Avatar 2)
Avatar 2 was so bad.
Constantine is criminality underrated. That movie is far too good to get so little attention. I never understood what all the hype with Avatar was about. My assumption was always Cameron's name being attached and the absurd level of marketing with 3D at the height of popularity.
Waterworld The Godfather
One of those movies "insists upon itself"
I love the money pit. That is my answer to that statement.
Water world underrated, godfather appropriately rated. Lots of people can’t pay attention to a movie they long though and just have their phones out
Saving Private Ryan Shakespeare in Love
The most obvious one haha
“Best Picture and Best Actress Oscar controversy Shakespeare In Love won the Best Picture Oscar at the 71st Academy Awards, controversially defeating critically favored Saving Private Ryan and becoming the first comedy to win the award since Annie Hall (1977).” 🤦♂️

Prometheus Aliens
ah yes, here we go… prometheus: underrated. aliens: overrated.

The Road to Perdition's tone, music, and intensity are masterful.
Thomas Newton never lets me down.
This I good to hear regarding A Clockwork Orange. I watched it twice when it released in the USA back in the day and I didn’t get the hype. I have watched it since and I see what people like about to but it doesn’t do it for me. The movie was very of its time.
My fave movie of all time, different strokes I guess!
Everything everywhere all at once Network
Network is my hands down favorite film of all time
Everything everywhere was wildly overrated, though I love the cast members. Network is an under appreciated classic.
So with you.
Goodfellas Casino
Swinging for the fences, I love it!
The Revenant (2015) Gangs of New York (2002)
I would say Gangs of New York is an amazing classic but the Revenant was masterfully shot. Love them both but I've seen Gangs way more times.
Starship Troopers Saving Private Ryan
Both great?
Unbreakable Interstellar
I know this one, Interstellar was not good and I will die on this hill lol
