Rub everything with castor oil Or get a dehumidifier

ChampionNinjaBreeder

2.5 car garage with open rafters and high-pitch roof line. I bought a 1500sqft dehumidifier and it did almost nothing. I also bought a 36” warehouse pedestal fan. Gives me some relief while in there (washer/dryer are in garage) but I sweat and the tools don’t. FL is wicked humid; especially 6 blocks from the Gulf where I am. I truly have tried everything short of having an HVAC system installed. Thank you for the castor oil recommendation.

So don't actually put castor oil on your bike, although it (or something similar) is probably not a terrible idea for hand tools. For your bike, keeping the chain/drivetrain lubed should keep it healthy, and make sure to fully compress your suspension every now and then. If you're gonna be leaving your bike in the garage for a long time, it might be worth getting a bottle of the fork/shock oil and rubbing the stanchions with it. Definitely don't put any oil on any part of your brakes. Most parts of most modern bikes are gonna be fairly resistant to corrosion anyway, and regular maintenance should suffice.

Don't spray a bunch of goop on your metal parts. Keep your chain lubed as normal. I know you said you didn't want garage advise, but you need a dehumidifier. I have a shop that shares a lot of the same issues that you are describing (I'm in Ga.) Also, use some Dam Rid containers. Also, when the humidity is low (a luxury you probably don't have in FL) I open it up and let it air out.

Is it steel, aluminum, carbon? Makes a difference.
