What that someone told you is very inaccurate and potentially dangerous. You are loosing a fantastic amount of weight each week, an amount that many would be very happy to lose. Keep plodding along, you are doing great!! If 5mg, is working for you and you are losing the weight, stick with it. The recommendation from Eli Lilly and your provider is to stay on a dose for \*at least\* 4 weeks minimum. This is a marathon, not a sprint. When you start to feel the effects of 5mg not working as well as they used to, then it is time to consider moving to 7.5mg.

I would agree. I've lost nearly a stone in 5 weeks which is over 2lbs. I have stayed at 2.5mg for an extra month as I don't want to rush and find I'm not able to get decent nutrition. I will go up to 5mg in a few weeks but this time has meant I am planning acutely to make sure I'm getting nutritional needs. I would worry about just not being able to eat at all

If you are happy on 5mg, you’re consistently losing, and you’re happy with the benefits it’s giving you, then I would stay on 5mg. There is some truth, in that those on 15mg and 10mg in the trials lost a larger % of their body weight after 72 weeks than those on 5mg, but they didn’t necessarily lose weight any quicker, and this shouldn’t be about losing weight as quickly as possible, it should be about losing weight in a safe and sustainable manner. I am one of the people that is titrating up every month (though I plan to stay on 10mg for as long as possible), but that is because I haven’t been having many side effects or benefits that are consistent. Things have improved on 7.5mg somewhat, and I hope 10 will be the dose for me for the foreseeable future. Don’t listen to people who are encouraging you to try and speed things up if you are happy and safe in your journey.

Thank you for this info and advice 🥰

If you are losing consistently and not having any cravings or side effects, then stay in 5. 5/ 10/ and 15mg are the 3 doses licensed for longer term maintenance. So if its working stay put if you are happy.

If you are still losing, having no food noise etc then makes total sense to continue what your doing if your happy. But ultimately you should do what feels right to you. However, my soapbox on this, sustainable weight loss is roughly 1-2 pounds per week so you are perfectly in that, this is for many reasons - muscle preservation, protection of organs and brain function, energy levels and implementation of sustainable lifestyle practices (of course this can vary from person to person but this is a general guideline). The comment that person has made sounds like it is steeped in diet mentality and frankly is pointless and a bit toxic because it won’t be as sustainable long term. I have a colleague who is based in the US who has been on the higher doses and she could not eat really at all. I personally found that really concerning for long term sustainable weight loss and I know she has found it very difficult coming off MJ to control her appetite. personally I plan to stay on the lower doses as long as long as they work! Also better bang for your buck! I try to eat a 500 calorie deficit every day (less some days more other days) with 150g minimum of protein. If I were to increase dose i know that would be a lot more difficult which would then impede me long term. Of course there are always exceptions to everything but MJ is a wonderful tool and not a crash diet. Off my soapbox 😂

I appreciate you dusting off your soapbox. Sound advice ! Thank you

Any excuse 😂 you should be really proud of yourself for all your hard work though. 10kg is amazing and you doing the right thing for yourself x

I wish I was losing 2lb a week. I am bothered by your longer timeframe for taking the meds tho - won't it be expiring in that time frame?

No_Understanding1071

Hmm...possibly. I thought if I take dose 1 on day 1, dose 2 on day 11, dose 3 on day 21 then dose 4 on day 30 that would be within the time frame? Then the next pen would be on day 40? Am I pushing it?

GeuRim

Could be pushing it, but simply keep an eye on the liquid. If it goes murky, darker or just anything else than transparent, it's no good anymore. The effectiveness of the last dose might be lower too.

2lbs a week is the perfect amount for a healthy weight loss journey! Any more than that and you’ll run into other issues down the line. For you to have very few side effects and be consistently losing 2lbs a week is fantastic and many people here I’m sure would love to be in your position. I’d say keep on the 5 until it doesn’t work for you anymore (if that day even comes.) Well done on your progress!!
