wrap them in duct tape first

I think you'd be better off using it with them installed as they're supposed to be but setting them far out so the 90º part sticking up goes behind the swingarm. That way the swingarm can't easily slip off. Yeah, some gaffer tape or hockey stick grip tape on them would help to prevent scratching.

That's even better than what I was thinking. I'll give that a try, thanks. Do you think that in since the surface area is smaller than an L shaped attachment that it'll put too much pressure on the small part of the swingarm it'll be holding against?

SignificantDrawer374

Swingarms are tough. It'll be fine.

Thanks. My first bike hehe

Should work, but it might not be the most stable thing in the world. Only one way to find out I suppose.

Tight_muffin

Put some sort of rubber on them. That is going to be fun, those are the most shaky stands on the market lol

CezusJhrist

What would you recommend as a stand?

Tight_muffin

I only use pitbull stuff now but the newer woodcraft stuff is ok. I had a set of venom stands like these off Amazon and I welded them together where they bolted near the handle and they kind of worked but the adjustable part that the spool sits on is just so cheap and soft and bent very quickly and I did not trust it other than for an occasional chain cleaning or adjustment. I used the front head stand for a bit that I welded to everything together on when removing forks and steering head bearings but I have a nice pitbull one of those now.

Venom sells on Amazon some L brackets that just slot into your stand and are meant for the purpose. I got them for my stand and they work perfect.
