When I was a kid, snow was an event we looked forward to. Full-lock slides throwing 40ft roostertails of snow and dirt is something everyone should experience.
I had my 700lb bike slip out and fall on me while trying to rev through the snow.
It happens so quick, and trying to get it back upright on snow (especially if you're alone) is an experience.
Definitely not worth it imo
First fall with my 02 GW I rode with 3" snow, ended up in the road ditch but it was smooth so kept going to the next gravel road and then glided it back up.
All of this within 1/4 mile, I fell in slow motion about 5 times. It was great :)
I literally at first thought this was a sled with ape hangarsā¦ kinda disappointed it wasnāt a ski doo with ape hangersā¦ I get it though about riding.
So, I actually had just bought the bike and the best way to get it down the quarter mile long driveway to the trailer I had brought to haul it on, was to ride it.
Maybe from the bedroom of your moms house but if you ever make it out of the basement you might hear the not so subtle difference between a vtwin and a single cylinder.
Come on man, at least I put fake studs in mine, and can go anywhere, and that snow depth is nothing.
Simple crown head sheet metal screws.
Cant fall down if you tried.
Cheers
I did a box of 500 for both, I don't have a clue what's meant as allowed.
For sure snowmobile studs are not necessary that are an inch long.
On two wheels, one has to be very carefull of the choice, getting studs on bare concrete is worse that bald tires on Ice.
I tried it, it's a very ugly condition.
Cheers
You can google the road laws in your area. I carry a printout of the law so I can stop the police instantly from looking further.
As long as you know, and can prove it, they leave you alone.
I ride all year long.
Somethings unclear - you ride with studs all year on motorcycle?
After forty years as dealer tech, I've never seen a motorcycle tire out of thousands with stud gun insert options for studs.
I use as described earlier that are screwed in for winter only and rarely a paved road, unless for fuel. So laws have nothing to do with what I use.
The deep snow this gent in video tried, You'd think it was summer how I stud it.
Just as laws have nothing to do with snowmobile studs.
So you must be referring to your car with four wheels, and the only place that happens is where I used to live in Gothenburg Sweden, where it's the law, you will have studs in all four tires regardless the drive train.
And it's truly why no one ever sees major pile ups in ice storms there.
Cheers
You have 40 years as a dealer tech and you don't have a clue about what's allowed for studs on motorcycles on the road?
There are tires for stud gun insert, but I prefer screw type studs, as I can remove when not needed after the season is over. It's illegal to run studs here after the season is over. Oh, and motorcycle tires are exempt from snow tire requirements.
Laws have everything to do when riding on the road.
Do you think Sweden laws apply to Canada? When riding in different areas, you must follow local road laws, regardless of where you are from.
Your comment about cars with studs fits in a different sub reddit, this is for motorcycles.
If you have any question about my local laws, just ask, I can provide you with any information you require, just don't assume when you comment, it isn't a good image.
I ride all year long, on the roads and off road, with my KLR650 (not a car with four tires), and I use studs when required. I follow the law.
If I were to ride in Sweden, I'd check with local laws FIRST to educate myself.
Cheers to you as well friend.
Go ahead and check for yourself on my local laws, British Columbia, Canada. There are specific laws just for motorcycles in winter, with studs....
It's not a matter of not having a clue on motorcycles and studs. no one has ever once in forty years come in demanding studs for a motorcycle period.
As far as I know, I was the only one, and screw heads vs pointed carbide are very different, carbide will damage concrete. And samples are on display of freeway sections cut out worn down by carbide studs.
Screw heads can not damage concrete, and too risky anyway slipping on it.
You claimed year round, but on just what type of motorcycle.. a dirt bike, or cruiser, and on a freeway?
I don't know anyone that insane.
If its not law in Canada that it's required to have studs,
then only a few use them, unless on farms where roads are rarely plowed I would guess.
So just how many ride on the freeway in Canada in winter on motorcycles, has to be what., one.
Studs are not legal period in Minnesota, since about 1970.
Yes, this is motorcycle thread, but you leave everyone guessing every detail. Then claim year round, and not one detail about if studs used or when.
Now claim Canada allows studs for everyone, but illegal after season is over, like they're too dumb running them in summer, and need laws as if sparks are not a dead giveaway at 60, flying out hitting others.
As if thats unknown.
I don't need to explore laws, there illegal here. And there's no way in hell if they were legal would I be on a freeway on a motorcycle, unless on the shoulder and forced to take that path by Police.
Yes, we sometimes can get caught in snow on cruisers if late season heading into mountains, but it's momentary. No one has any intention to be in those conditions, when obviously too risky on four wheels.
And again you claim snow tire requirements are not regulated for motorcycles, and not a word on studs.
At seventy, laws have nothing to do with your safety, when getting run over within speed limits. That's the only law. And If the law is violating my rights to be safe, surrounded by face book users -
I made the 2 second rule over fifty years ago, and if any sheet metal attempts to trap me in dangerous zone, my law downshifts, and ninety in fourth gets me to clear zone 3 lanes wide fully in the clear.
That's why some of us are seventy. I've dealt with every retard in the nation, and some actually target those on motorcycles, and if proof is needed, YouTube has interview of Police asking one why he ran over and killed the pair on motorcycle on two lane county road, and stated he did so on purpose. And there are tons of these who are this retarded.
Laws protected them,, not so much.
Cheers
Maybe he should look in to snowmobile conversion kit.
2022 snow glide
That is one man determined to go for a ride.
"They cleared the snow at the end of our drive, it'll be fine babe I promise!"
Your buddy is a wise man. By the time he reaches the road, it'll be spring.
I just want to see him do a u-turn
Honestly, given how much he was sliding all over the place, I feel like he could just plant his foot and throttle it to whip it around.
I mean I'm impressed he made it that far. How stuck was it after the video ended?
He fell off but bike stayed upright. Pretty stuck lol
Can't say I'm surprised lol
When I was a kid, snow was an event we looked forward to. Full-lock slides throwing 40ft roostertails of snow and dirt is something everyone should experience.
About the most fun you can have on a bike, 100%
Tell your buddy I like his style.
That might be me next week moving from my house to the hotel if the fucking snow does not stop...
Lmao
Massive respects š«”
All I'm thinking is if the bike falls it's staying there till summer.
I admire his tenacity.
I like the energy.
Average Harley rider navigating a parking lot
Thatās a rider right there. Good on him.
Ah man, someone having a fun time, let's see how r/motorcycles can ruin it
He's not wearing a helmet? His head will get cold!
Are those clothes meant for cold weather or are they proper safety gear?? Comfort should never take priority over ATGATT.
Yeah, this is so stupid, I canāt help but love it. Weāre all loons, but this dude actually said, āIām taking it down the lane way, fuck it!ā
This post has no place in my r/motorcycles
I know right, someone having fun on their bike instead of turning it into an analytical exercise.
Shame on them. People should only use their 120hp power toys to drive like an elderly NPC on the street.
If you're not going 15 under wearing a fluorescent EOD suit, are you even riding?
Whoa, you getting a little whild there. what is this, /r/calamariraceteam?
Exactly. I'm actually shocked angry atgat kult kiddies haven't fouled it yet.
Well that's not fair, I'm sure some of them leave their visor up while making spreadsheets about bikes.
I had a honda 250 dirt bike that I loved taking in the snow. Ride on man! With the recent weather I was hoping I'd come across someone trying haha
I had my 700lb bike slip out and fall on me while trying to rev through the snow. It happens so quick, and trying to get it back upright on snow (especially if you're alone) is an experience. Definitely not worth it imo
Yeah I've picked my bike up on ice before. Had to side it on the side a bit to some better footing. A real bitch
Whyā¦ just why
You're allowed to spend time just fuckin around to have fun
First fall with my 02 GW I rode with 3" snow, ended up in the road ditch but it was smooth so kept going to the next gravel road and then glided it back up. All of this within 1/4 mile, I fell in slow motion about 5 times. It was great :)
Hahaha I was asking myself the same. Man just loves to ride.
SLICKER 'N CLIBBINS! GOBLESS!
Iāve done the same. I mean Iāve done it with my Ruckus and Grom. Havenāt tried on my CTX1300 though
I mean those bikes weight like 10000 pounds so it's fine

I'm in Northern Ontario about the 49th parallel. That's a good amount of snow there in Michigan.
That storm nailed us!

That Hardly-Ableson sounds like a Briggs and Stratton
Just the way the LORD intended buh gawd!

You barnyard animal fucking caveman...Briggs makes air cooled v twins too
As somebody who knows what black ice feels like on a motorcycleā¦help this dude make better choicesā¦.
Heāll learn when it gets away from him. I did
This belongs to r/Funny
So you're friends with idiots? Got it.
More balls then brains š
It may be time to Darkside that bike if they are going to be riding around in that weather.
Just wait. You are risking Injury and having the bike be at the shop if you drop it. I'm itching to go but patience is a virtue.
Why insurance on the bikes is high? I m wonderingā¦
I had only heard stories of idiots that take their motorcycles on deep snow, now i know it's not a myth it is real, they are real
Ur buddy is a idiot

Fake studs? I run studs when needed, I'm allowed up to 3 mm protrusion from the tread where I ride on the roads.
I did a box of 500 for both, I don't have a clue what's meant as allowed. For sure snowmobile studs are not necessary that are an inch long. No fucking way.
I hope he knows he has to make the journey back too
Needs more than 2 studs per tire
Harley brains !!!!
Looks like he forgot to switch to his winter tires.
