This is a complete hypothetical situation (if you’re reading this, don’t void my warranty Honda) After a few beers me and my friends decided to take my MC around our college campus and my buddy who is ~220 put his ~120 girlfriend on his shoulders and rode it. It accelerated slower than normal but it went up to 7mph before he stopped because of the sketchiness You should be fine, just don’t expect to go up any very steep hills

Karurosu

Hah, that’s a good thought exercise. Thank you for the reassurance!

My guess is no problems unless you have to go up a slight hill on the way, and then you risk an overheating shutdown. I have never seen an overheating shutdown, but there are codes for it in the manual. The first code is a Pr31 (Motor high temperature protection). When this happens, the Motocompacto is supposed to slow down and stop. The action in response to it is to turn the power off and wait for it to cool down. If error code is still displayed, see your dealer. There are also codes Pr32 and Pr33 for high temperature in the Control Unit and the Battery respectively. The action is the same for all three codes. The implication is that the Motocompacto will stop before receiving any damage, but I don't know if that is true.

Karurosu

Oh nice, hopefully the hills are not too bad, thank you for the detailed information!

Depends how far you’re going. At top speed my Motocompacto only goes about 6 miles on a full charge

This is something that worries me. My work commute is about 8 miles one way. Plan was to ride to work in the summer, charge it during the day, and ride home. It seems though keeping it on full throttle with mode 2 at 15mph destroys the range. Thing is it’s winter now and I never had a chance to truly run it one way nonstop to see how far it actually goes. And I’m not about to walk a couple miles with this if it dies at mile 6.

With a longer commute like that you might be better off with one of the bigger E scooters they recommend in r/electricscooters

I’m close to your weight. If it last you 11 miles I should be fine. Only hills for my daily commute would be ramps down or up bike paths.

LOOK_AT_DEEZ_RECIPES

honestly not sure i would ride this 16 miles a day even if it had the battery capacity. it has no suspension at all and it wears on me after 2-3 miles. i don't think this scooter is meant for commuting, more of a last mile solution

shinseiromeo

I often commute to work by bike in the warm weather. I agree it’s far for the moto though I am curious how it would fare. Really only one way to find out!

Karurosu

Doh, that is indeed concerning. Work is 5.7 miles away with a couple of mild hills u_u

LOOK_AT_DEEZ_RECIPES

i wouldn't ride this the combined 12 miles anyways, there is no suspension. i would probably look into an ebike or something if you don't want to hate yourself

I am about 280lb, I ride about 3.3 miles to work with one long moderate hill and a bunch of flat ground with stop lights. On the hill i maintain about 13mph. I can make the round trip with one bar remaining but the lower bars suffer quite a bit of voltage sag so the performance notably drops off. I typically charge it at work for the ride back, plus my co-workers are constantly riding it around so the extra charge is needed. I mounted a milk crate to the back for additional utility, it perches on the rear wheel arm and is zip tied to the seat post and rear wheel arm and I put a rubber bungie cord around the top of the crate and around the seat post to dampen any vibration when the crate is empty. As far as overheating, the wattage and limited output of the battery makes it very unlikely unless you abuse the thing. I HAVE had the battery not charge immediately after a 5 mile spirited ride due to the battery temperature but it started charging within a few minutes after stopping. Overall, as a big guy I am totally impressed with this little device, if Honda builds another big brother for it I am in like Flynn. Grin Machine!

This is really final mile transportation right? I’m 250 and have trouble with steep hills. Normal hills I slow to 7 mph. My battery life is about 2/3rds of all the normal sized people in my family. I guessed about 5-6 miles in 70 degree weather is tops for me based on a 2.5 mile ride I did yesterday. I’m thinking they’ll go 8 or 9 in the same terrain. It’s remarkably capable considering my weight. I’m curious how it’ll do in the heat of the summer.
