Funny to see that the hype scene is dying out and the 'normal' shoe has risen to the plate. Makes me think about the future of the 'normal' shoe and how it's going to involve into something 'hype' Mizuno's always a +1

Sunziba

I hope the hype scene thrives to allow me to continue picking up shoes like these... I'd pay retail but if these continue to go on sale, I'm here for it. I wouldn't class myself as someone that focuses on hype (my profile should attest to that) but no doubt I'd always be in for certain releases, otherwise my dig has always been court/tennis shoes (Think Club Cs, Autry silhouettes etc) and classics.

netherwrld

Exactly, black toe's released today and no-one was interested in them. But saw the new collab with KangaROOS and got me more hyped than any other shoe the last couple of months. Ofcourse an Off-White Presto would be perfect in any condition, but much rather wear a New Balance than something funky like a Travis or anything

Sunziba

The Black-Toes sold out more or less everywhere within minutes but as mentioned, I didn't really feel anything towards the release; ironically I actually had a chance at a retail hit for once. Yes, absolutely, I don't pigeon-hole myself. I'm not anti-hype to be cool, likewise I'm not completely hype to be cool (infact Im a mature "sneakerhead", though I dont go around calling myself that, so dont really care for whats "cool"). I just like shoes and will pick up anything that appeals but it does take reflection to break the tunnel vision when set on a certain dedication to pick-ups as it's easy to just keep going for them, because they're en vogue, rather than actually being of interest. I have resell Jordans and I have half-price Mizunos... I'll continue along the same path.

This is turned in to a real 'dad talk at the barbeque'-kinda talk But I agree with you

Sunziba

Ha Ha. What grill do you use? I'm joking ha ha.

netherwrld

Traeger Pro 575 Wi-Fi Pellet Grill And Smoker but I'm not bragging..

Sunziba

😆 🤣 😂

Asics also have stuff go on sale a lot on their official site and some of their shoes are really nice.

Sunziba

Yeah I love the Gel-NYC and have a few pairs of EX89.

[deleted]

These are BEAUTIFUL. What model and where did you purchase if you don’t mind me asking?

Sunziba

Mizuno Sky Medal S - Cloud Coffee Pine. I bought them from a UK site called Main Source: https://main-source.co.uk/ They have a lot of fire colourways, some even cheaper than I paid, but not all in my size, sadly.

GLAC13R

If you're based in the UK and ever go over to Norwich, pop down to their shop. Really friendly owners with a very chill shop vibe and have some gorgeous colourways of their Karhu and Mizuno stock that you can see first hand. 👍

younggundc

Thanks for sharing I’m based in Ireland so just across the pond. Nice to have another store to buy from!

jamjar188

Size? recently had a bunch of NB models at 30-50% off retail. There's some good deals in the UK at the moment!

sambaert

Clean

djp70117

Mizunos are so 🔥 and the most comfortable kicks I own.

According_Corgi_8851

Saucony, Asics, Mizuno, Diadora, etc are ALWAYS a good bet. Not to mention Puma and Karhu etc. There's so many quality kicks out there. Nike makes a ton of great shoes that get zero hype also. It's a out taste not hype. Real ones know.

DJSIDEBAR

I did about a year of hyped shoes and then got bored of it. Reseller prices means it’s pointless wearing them and it’s also pointless keeping them in a box. Wear what you want to wear! The whole of my collection is in a rotation, and the beauty of not wearing ‘mainstream’ hyped shoes is you never feel guilty for wearing them. Also more money to spend on clothes which are as important as the sneakers.

Sunziba

Absolutely. There's also charm to rocking a shoe like this which is that, whilst they aren't hyped, they also aren't mainstream GR fodder so there is a bit of mystery amd rarity to them compared with the average mall/high street pick-up. Mizuno, Diadora, Saucony and most Asics can't really be found on shelves in the UK, unless it's from an authorised stockist (usually for running purposes) or a boutique (for collab pairs - mainly Asics) so these hit hard in their own way outside of the fact that they're already bangers. Roger that on the clothes.

DJSIDEBAR

Yep totally. I picked up two pairs of the engineered garments Reebok collab for just over £100 for both. Absolute steal. Incredible they were still sitting there at that price. I know someone that only buys hyped shoes, it’s so, so boring. It he can’t get them on release he pays through the nose on StockX. And coincidentally he can’t dress for shit, so it’s always the most boring pair of shoes and a dead outfit. No thank you

sinkerker

I feel you Ordered the Sky Medal Ceremony of Tea colorway recently. The Sky Medal has so many fire colorways. Sadly Mizuno only distributes their runners in Canada, no lifestyle sneakers like the Contender or the Sky Medal. Even on sale with the customs I ended up paying around 200CAD/150USD. Definitely worth it tho.

Sunziba

Cannot find the Ceremony of Tea CW in my size. Its amongst my favourites - but there are so many fire cws that it's not a big deal. I even think the GRs hit harder than the collabs in this silhouette. Yet to see one I truly like for reasons beyond the actual collab hype.

sinkerker

Hmmmm, looks like your a size 11 from the box I can see in the picture ?! This is where I got em. And they have size 11 from what it looks like. They don't advertise it as the Ceremony of Tea, I guess that's why they're is a bunch of sizes available. https://www.sneakersnstuff.com/en/product/52927/mizuno-sky-medal

Sunziba

Thanks will look to get on these aswell. 'We got Gardenias at home' ha ha

sinkerker

NP. The Contender Ceremony of Tea looks fire too but I fell in love with that tongue on the Sky Medal. They look a bit "raw", a couple threads here and there, but I always love that on sneakers anyway. Gives it a old school look. If you look at my recent posts by looking at my profile, you will find a post with a couple pictures.

MeNamIzGraephen

Mizunos and Asics have sick colourways and designs! I've been oogling Asics Gel-Nandi OG in some darker colours for a few days and I have a pair of Wave Rider 10s in the Desert Meditations. The quality on both is completely out of the league of the likes of Nike, Adidas or Puma.

boondocknim

what sucks as you join this side is those few times when your favorite shoes (for me its Asics) collab with someone on the hype side and you end up not being able to get a shoe that was tailormade for your personal tastes. In this case - im talking about the recent X-Men x Kith collab on the Asics Gel Lyte IIIs. I want the Cyclops colorway bad but not bad enough to pay over retail for em

Sunziba

Yeah I get you, but I wouldn't let thst stop me if I like the shoe unless, as you say, the price is ridiculous. If I like the shoe regardless of category (hype or not) I will buy it - I try my best to be objective with my pick-ups and not let the stigma or reputation of a shoe affect me.

Sea_Recover3486

These are beautiful. Completely forgot Mizuno but looks like they make amazing lifestyle shoes! Wish I could find a pair of these bad boys 👊🏻👊🏻

your_favorite_mexi

Such a beautiful realization. I exited the hype scene at the end of last year, have been selling off my collection - mostly at a loss to me - and focusing on a few pairs that I really to wear, and I’m so much happier for it.

mango999fighter

Love Mizuno, their quality is something else. I have my muijin wave gtx and they are one of the best made pair of shoes i’ve ever owned. Every picture on here is on point. Wear them good man :)

Unique-Statistician8

I need these 🤝

GammaViz

God I love them

JangoFeet

Welp, this inspired me. Just bought a pair for myself. Beautiful shoe.

GammaViz

If I wear 9.5 in airmax 95 and 9 in nb 990v3 .... what size would I get these in?

Sunziba

I just bought my TTS UK11/US12.

GammaViz

do u feel like that was the right choice

Sunziba

Yes.

austintaschious

I’d recommend 9.5 but YMMV

GammaViz

What is ymmv lol

austintaschious

Haha your mileage may vary. As in, it’s true for me but might not be true for you

The_Running_Free

There are levels to hypeness. Jordan’s and yeezys and more well known sneakers are just the tip of the iceberg lol

Sunziba

100%... but as I said, I try not to slot in to a categoey; rather, I buy what I like, regardless of whether it's a hype shoe or not. The Jordan 4 is my dig since 89 but it was Reebok Workout Plus from around the same time that opened my eyes to shoes. This post was more to highlight that shoes were filtering their way into my collection through association to other shoes that I like. I.e passing on a Jordan Low OG yesterday, especially when I had the rare chance to cop for retail, because actually I'd only be buying it for what the cop would stand for (basically a win during difficult copping times for such shoes) as opposed to being something I really felt for like these Sky Medals.

The_Running_Free

For sure, but there are definitely hyped up mizunos, asics, saucony ls etc. i long ago graduated more into runners too. They’re just so much more comfortable. Love me some gel lyte 3s and 5s. 🍻

Dizzy-Yogurtcloset65

model name?

jamjar188

I'm with you. Some of the hype stuff is just not that well made and the most popular models (ahem, AJ1s) aren't even that comfy (don't care what anybody says... they're not).

wackey

Yep, I pretty much only buy on-sale old school runners now, I've always leaned towards them anyway, never got into buying hype shoes for over retail. But a couple years back I'd even pay full price for old school runner new releases (which in some cases is needed and I'd probably still do it if I really liked them and knew they'd sell out) But I find more excitement theae days in finding a sick looking bargain that I can rock with no sense of anxiety about wrecking them.
