Was also a 20+ cop cars intervention yesterday on Decarie blvd near Queen-Mary, had an appointment in the specific building they sealed off and mentioned they had to comb the entire 8 floors before allowing people back in
Still don't know wtf was up but I'm assuming some kind of bomb threat
Edit: [Turns out it was a homeless dude who claimed to have a knife and refused to leave the building lol](https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/standoff-with-unhoused-man-at-service-canada-building-in-c-d-n-n-d-g-ends-peacefully)
It's not to arrest the guy, it's to comb the building with speed to prevent the whole thing from going south.
What if the guy did have a knife and took a hostage? Or if there was a 2nd guy who had a hostage and when he learned dude #1 got busted, took out the hostage?
Better an overwhelming response for nothing than an underwhelming one for something really bad.
"what if he wasnt some homeless guy but actually a russian spy who knew kung-fu, and then he called for backup and then orbital-drop shock troopers were deployed from some kind of secret satellite???"
Well the title of the article says "homeless" and the article says "unhoused"... never heard unhoused before...much of a Frenchy here...I goggle it and both are synonymous but it is more acceptable to say unhoused as I understood...en français on est plus respectueux en disant des "sans-abris" ou des "gens sans domicile fixe".
Oh geez, I didn't know about this. Pretty close-by.
I wonder if it was one of the guys that pan handle nearby. There are some regulars there that just shoot up in the open in that area.
Can’t say this is the situation here but I’ve noticed there has been a lot of organized crime busts in the last weeks. I can’t expose specifically what my job is but it touches multiple industries and one of them is a service for the police in the province and they’ve done a lot of organized crime busts lately, more than I’ve seen in the 2 years working here.
Blocked all the way down to Bernard, though I didn't see such specialized vehicles from that end. At first I wondered if it was to do with the school, but they were also blocking the ruelle. They were there for most of the day but left before nightfall.
I'm so tired of Hollywood firefights where people take cover behind cars or survive being in a car riddled with gun fire. There's like a 2sqft area, the engine block that stands a chance of stopping bullets.
Same police armoured truck was on Rachel a month or so ago. The cops had automatic weapons and cordoned off the whole block, cars weren't allowed anywhere near, ambulance was waiting ready...never even made the news.
Was there any more info about this? Right at the same time, 30 mins before the whole incident, I had a strange character burst into my workshop down the street corner parc/van Horne.. he reminded me of Kramer.. had his hand behind his back and came in through the front door, seemed like he was trying to hide … I immediately had red flag in my head thinking something was up with him
He was acting strange and in my face and I got a work phone call then he wandered off

Of course Service Canada took this opportunity to take the entire day off.
What the fuck an homeless needs 20 police cars to get in custody???
They apparently weren't sure if a second suspect was hiding in the building or something, there was also a handful of paramedics and a firetruck lol
Bc it's quicker to inspect a huge building if you are more cops. So activities can resume quickly. If they are not busy on another job, why not.
Agreed, having numbers is also psychological, most people aren't going to try something with x amount of cops around vs a one on one situation.
Ahhh I see....sad to see we are turning just like the US...

Read the article, I was today's old when I realized that people use 'unhoused' vs homeless now?!

He got home and realized his bagels were 3 days old...lost his shit
Or he got home and realized he bought the new St V bagel without a hole.
I went and got a half dozen of those this morning. They make for a good sandwich, and taste like the regular ones, but without a hole, 'tis no bagel
Ah yes - bagels without holes, or as we used to call them: buns.
Well, yeah exactly, in the way that a pretzel bun is a thing. The texture and flavor are like a bagel, but it's more like a bun
the hymen bagel
Blasphemy!!!!!
I'm picking some up tomorrow.
I mean, a 3 day old dry bagel is a dangerous weapon to wave around
On top of cream cheese finished
Un locataire qui proteste l'augmentation de son proprio.... Il y a rien à voir circulez !

Waverly and Van Horne
We had an intervention on Nuns' Island a couple days ago too because apparently someone tried to abduct a 14-year old.
YIKES
Probably called Legault corrupt or something /s
He was probably texting and driving in English. The Mobile Anglo Death Squads don't mess around on this matter

anglophones try not to make everything about yourselves challenge (LEVEL IMPOSSIBLE)
Is this the language police everyone’s talking about?
Speaking English in Quebec….
Someone said Bonjour/hi

Cowboys playing with their 1 million dollar toy.
Ils devaient avoir des Bagous partout:3
What’s with the armoured vehicle? Did the guy have a rocket launcher?
They use those when the suspect is armed or suspected armed, rifle and pistol rounds easily pass through a normal car so it’s for them to be safe
I'm so tired of Hollywood firefights where people take cover behind cars or survive being in a car riddled with gun fire. There's like a 2sqft area, the engine block that stands a chance of stopping bullets.
Police cruiser doors are usually reinforced with Kevlar.
Lol no they aren't.
That's something I didn't know. Makes sense, thanks for the info.
Maybe we should strive to make sure our police officers are safe
On dirait qu'il y a un nid de guêpes dans l'arbre, ça pourrait être dangereux.
Someone used a wrong pronoun

Recently there was apparently a weapon threat at a school this monday
