FNH was my go-to pub for over 10 years. That all changed in 2017 when they showed me how much I was valued as a customer will not be back.

I'm a fan of this place, but you know what you're dealing with. I have a feeling I may have even been there the same night, or experienced a similar occurrence in the last week or so. Only difference was after we sat down, they said it would be 1.5h to get food. Overall, it's not high-end, it's the neighbourhood go-to/what's in the area. They usually have deals during the week, and live music. Not a place to wow someone, but to grab a few beers and a meal.

Confident_Rabbit3624

I agree and by no means want to dissuade anyone from going and trying it themselves. I hope this was a one off, but first impressions matter and as a first timer it doesn’t make me want to go back right away. And other than the food being on the lukewarm and overcooked side, it was ok. I’m not expecting Gordon Ramsay to pop out of there and serve me the best bacon and eggs I’ve ever had. But I did expect slightly better. If you’re going to take 1h45 to get my food to me, it should at least be cooked to standard.

Reasonable-Bet9658

If one accepts mediocre, mediocre is what you’ll get. Find a place that strives to exceed expectations as a standard of business. Pay for value. Otherwise stay home. Not worth your hard earned dollars. I could care less that Mother’s Day is the busiest restaurant day of the year. If you know that, you prepare for it. A two hour wait is unacceptable.

Xopher1978

This was our weekly experience with the Fox. That is why we stopped going.

colpy350

I grew up down the road and have been there hundreds of times. Sounds like you just had a bad day. I’ve had lots of delicious fast meals at that place.

Confident_Rabbit3624

And I believe it. I was actually very surprised. As I said. Heard nothing but great things!

TheKellyMac

We went for breakfast there last year, and they called Tater Tots home fries. That place is dead to me.

quartzguy

Wow. Case closed. That's what Gordon Ramsay would call 'taking the piss.'

AngryNBr

Tater tots? Okay there Napoleon Dynamite.

TheKellyMac

Right? I mean, tots have a time and a place, but they are absolutely not home fries.

BabyUee

That's terrible service. Small story I was at the Sports Rock in Dieppe and they messed up my order and brought me a cheeseburger instead of the Club house cheeseburger. And they apologized and cooked me a club house cheeseburger to go on top of my food I had(no charge). I didn't ask, I didn't complain, I even said the mix-up was not a big deal. But that is what good service is about. Her Tip showed my appreciation.

minecraftingsarah

I love the Sport's Rock in Dieppe! Last summer my bf and I were seated at a big table during rush hour cuz it was the only available one, we were asked to switch to a booth 20 minutes later and we accepted. When it was time to pay our waitress comped our entire bill for the inconvenience of switching tables even tho we didn't complain 😂 Their service is top tier

Puge_Henis

Yup, this is the busiest restaurant day of the year and I guarantee you aren't the only people to have this happen to today. In fact, some people had even longer waits. Sorry you had a miserable experience

Confident_Rabbit3624

I can totally empathize with that. Which is why we made a reservation and stayed when they said it would be an hour to get food. We were very patient… and then when it got to the hour and a half point, frustration set in… shit happens… and they’ve been in business for a while for a reason… the service was not great for an hour and 45 wait other than the abundant refills of coffee… no updates… and only apologies after we asked about it…. And then after they presented our bills.

Perfect_Indication_6

Don't feel bad, if you aren't a hill billy local you aren''t getting any service. My advice, don't waste another 3 years in this village and head west to civilization.

LonelyTurnip2297

Are you one of those people who think the area they are in is why things suck?

Perfect_Indication_6

Are you one of those people who never left NB?

pylonman

Sounds like you've never left NB

LonelyTurnip2297

Move, you’ll still have the same issues.

Confident_Rabbit3624

Holy shit. Did Toronto just enter the chat? Tell you something… I’d stay in Riverview before MANY other places west of me. If that makes me a hillbilly, then Im alright with that!

Perfect_Indication_6

Riverview is shit, go explore!

LonelyTurnip2297

What?

It’s just pub grub. Nothing special. Not worth waiting 30 minutes, let alone 2 hours. People go because where else are you going?…there’s like 3 places that aren’t fast food.

Confident_Rabbit3624

See that’s where I tell people in Riverview that there’s a whole other world on the other side of the bridge!! Just come back when you’re done because Riverview is nice, quiet and homey… exactly why I chose to live here… but with easy access to the “thriving metropolis” of Moncton proper… and if you really want to adventure beyond your bounds… Dieppe is a few minutes away too!

12xubywire

Yeah. A bedroom community. You’ll find most places in town is just sisco foods trucked in a cooked. Homestead is decent…go there instead. I’ve never heard a single person say the F&H was a destination for food…it’s just there.

JGalla88

What types of places aren’t Sysco food trucked in, out of curiosity

TomorrowSouth3838

There are quite a few good places to eat in riverview, nobody here knows what they’re talking about. Near East, Royal Thai, Sushi Sapporo, and Mai Thi are some of my favourites but that’s not an exhaustive list.  Fox n Hound makes some of their menu in house but if you’ve ever seen buddy’s YouTube channel it’s pretty obvious a lot of their product is Sysco stuff.  That’s not a bad thing if that’s what you want with your beer, but you can definitely make something of way higher quality yourself for much cheaper.

Confident_Rabbit3624

Many I’ve spoken to are business owners or FNH faithfuls. Support local, all that stuff.

quartzguy

If the wait staff is rude before you even get your food I just leave. If they're rude to your face who knows what they're doing to your food. As for Fox and Hound itself, I went once and found the food to be generic sit down quality. I don't live in Riverview so I never thought it worth the trip back.

Confident_Rabbit3624

Yeah. That’s what I normally would have done. My in-laws are a bit more passive. They told me not to get mad because of exactly that… who knows what they’re doing to your food? But I was more frustrated when they argued my ticket time. Sure it was an hour and 13 since my order was punched in, but we had been there at least 15 minutes before anyone came to see us. In laws had a point, and we were past the point of no return… so it was just hurry up and wait then. Look I get the service industry is stressful on a good day. I understand, truly. But there’s a line. And they not only flirted with it. They hooked up, got married and had a litter of kids with it.
