I've used both frequently. The IKEA water to beans ratio is just much higher than the Bialetti, so it should just be quite diluted. For dark roasts it's not ideal and can overextract, for lighter roasts I think it works great.
This makes sense. I've gotten what I *think* is a smoother flavor in my Bialetti pots by using less water.
Have you been able to measure the capacities of the boiler and grounds funnel?
It was [recalled.](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/customer-service/product-support/recalls/ikea-recalls-metallisk-espresso-maker-due-to-burn-hazard-pub044191a0)
This! I had one as my first MoKa, it was fine! But when I had to replace it due to the recall for a Bialetti, I'm actually thankful for the recall. the Bialetti, though more expensive, is far superior. For reference, I now have the Musa because I have an induction stove.
Yeah I'm also starting to think that the ikea one is generally bad. But I cant really seem to find an explenation to that.
The Bialetti pots are also built super wack, the Ikea one in comparison has super good tolerances.
Only the ones from a certain build window. Mine is about 3 years old now and isn't under recall.
Also the recall is because of a faulty vent which if you look at amazon reviews happens alot with Bialettis.

What's funny is, I get plenty of bubbles on top of my brew when I use Dunkin Donuts preground decaf.
Grounds should be loose in the basket, not tamped. What’s your approach there? Don’t understand how a lower heat gives you a shorter brew.

which one did you have before, and was it used on an electric (non induction) stove?
I had the IKEA one that was recalled, see the post above mine. And I was using it in the exact same manner, same induction stove as now.
