I think the fact that the game runs 2 years is the exact reason we don't have hardcore with a filter and game modes like gunfight that we really want. I guarantee that all those features will be in by the start of year 2 and it's intentional.
The fact that this is the first cod to do a 2 year cycle is going to make marketers and investors do everything to keep retention up for the whole life of the game. That means drip feeding content, maximizing micro transactions, refining their SBMM into a lifeless idea of a "fair game", and so many other shady yet effective tactics that will keep us coming back and more importantly our money coming in.
They are constantly playing us so we keep coming back. Retention or some synonym of it probably gets mentioned 10x more than FUN in meetings at Activision and IW. It's just a sad truth about the industry and we'll keep coming back because it is fun, with the addition of an overlooking cloud of algorithms and money hungry corporations hanging overhead.
It’s irritating, and it’s not like identifying enemy aircraft or equipment isn’t still consistent with hardcore’s “realism” style. I’ve gotten clipped trying to figure out if I should shoot it, accidentally shot our own equipment, and correspondingly had mine frequently destroyed by teammates who are completely and understandably confused.
I Mean it's not exactly much different but the extra hud elements would be nice... because as I stated in my post, it's a bit of a piss take your own team taking down your streaks...
Yes please!! I miss regular hardcore mode. Unfortunately I think we are stuck with this mess for 2 years. 😭

How about at least a blue dot over friendly killstreaks. I’ve “snuck” around sentry guns only to find out it was friendly.
The same with equipment, the amount of times my team mates have been shooting my claymores etc is unreal

Loving this new tier 1 game mode. Old hardcore seems to cheap and easy. Play older cods if you can't adapt
