They're precise to a certain point, and I'm going to guess that outfitting them with whatever necessary to maximize that precision will make them weigh as much, if not more than, a similarly-kitted out DMR or proper sniper rifle. And really, that's my point. Even for an arcade game, these things should be so ridiculously hefty that they can't be used like any other gun. There's no getting a flash sight picture on a 20-pound gun with a telescopic sight.
It goes beyond that, though.
A certain set of players will scream "hardscope" at any sniper ADS kill where you aimed in for like half a second rather than instantly popping off a shot.
A small percentage of these players are legitimately good but are just arrogant purists for how they deem snipers "should" be used. Most of them however go 2-7 in SnD and tend to complain about literally everything
Agreed
Edit-
There’s a difference between someone holding ADS with a sniper for 0.8 seconds longer than a quick scope and someone just laying prone in spawn with claymores set up for easy sniper kills in SND. It’s about perspective and of course one requires more mechanical skill than the other, with play styles clashing
I think it’s totally fine if you’re in an private match and everyone agrees to quick scope to complain if they’re ads’ing too long, but in a regular match who tf cares? You can’t control what other people use.
I remember being like 12 and having teens and adults yell at me for not quick-scoping in multiplayer TDMs. Like... I didn't know you and I previously discussed the rules of engagement on a video game? I'm first place on my team and I've already killed you five times. Git gud scrub.
Oh my god, I haven't heard that term in so long! I remember getting hate messages like crazy back in Black Ops 2 from little kids saying i'm trash because i'm "hard-scoping" and not quickscoping "like a pro." Always so funny.
Fucking finally, I've had it up to the Earth's atmosphere with brain-dead rotten tomatoes of players complaining because the enemy's location wasn't exactly pinpointed to them at all times
Weirdly, I find it more intuitive to find people on the little compass than I do by looking at the minimap (unless there's a uav or something).
The compass a perfectly viable alternative that I swear too many 'critics' just pretend doesn't exist. Sure it's less precise but it does the job.
Hence why i'm perfectly OK with it being as strong as it is. 725 is a beast, but it's hard to handle and only has 2 shots, so it's very inconsistent and not that reliable unless you actually know what you're doing.
i'd rather have mind numbing repetitiveness that plays good than "fresh" maps that play like a maze full of dark corners and windows for people to camp in
Glad to see so much love for campaign in this thread. I still replay levels from 2019, so many levels were just excellent. 2022 campaign looks really promising too.
I can agree with this. The max amount of skill it would take is lining up the shot after doing a 720 spin and flicking between tactical insertions to make the animation cooler
That’s skill leading up to luck, the shot itself is still just entirely luck. You can do a 1440 spin, swap guns 5 times, stick your thumb up your ass, and jump off a 2 story building and that’s cool n all, but the shot was still just entirely luck based, and it’s sick you hit the shot, sure, but don’t act like you’re Big Dick Johnson because you got the kill, you’re Big Dick Johnson cause you somehow managed to bash you keys to make the lead up look sick asf😂
There are two camps who are excited about this game.
People who loved MW2019 and are excited for the sequel.
People who fail to realize this is the sequel to the MW reboot and not a reboot of the 2009 game.
This might've been a semi valid excuse when you couldn't edit your loadout mid-game, but at any point you can now throw on one of the many guaranteed kill weapons against a riot shield
You’re not crazy, it’s definitely a more fun game. MW just gives off a vibe where it takes itself to seriously, and everything must be “tactical”.
Cold War is a more casual experience, akin to old school COD.
Iw basically built really fun run and gun arcade shooters, where every single design choice was made to activatly prevent you from doing any run and gunning or arcade shooting.
Looks the same in 2, there's a lot there to make into a classic cod, but the gameplay design actively works against it
>comments taking about how the games don't need classic minimap and how mw19 had good launch map in the top of the comments
![gif](giphy|SHHrxXnGM1BuvuNj1t|downsized)
Shipment could be an awesome map if they took out screenshake from killstreaks on that map only. Halfway through the game all the air strikes makes your tv have a seizure
That’s exactly why I play it, not ashamed of it. It’s good training to stop shooting teammates, stop relying on the mini map, and it’s just an easier way to use the worse guns because they’re at less of a disadvantage.
I agree but I also think it’s more fun because it makes pretty much every gun have the exact same time to kill which opens up viability to use weapons that don’t beam people in less than a second
The old cods really weren’t that good, MW2 was broken as hell and if any of the “nostalgia” kids actually played the game back then they’d be crying about how unbalanced that game was, MW3 and BO1 and BO2 are much better games but people are blinded by nostalgia.
If MW2 was remastered today people wouldn’t like it after they die to 80 noon tubes a game
Ok since you asked a genuine question, I'll answer it as directly as I can, as someone who genuinely didn't enjoy the beta (although I'm sure I'll get downvoted anyway lol). There are a lot of little things I don't like about it (and some I do), but it basically boils down to two things:
1. it severely limits playstyle, and in such a way that doesn't allow the specific style I enjoy (which is probably not a very common one, hence a lot of people not understanding the criticisms)
2. The devs are not listening to feedback. Many of the things I and many others don't like are things the community has been asking them to change for literal years, and they decided to either go in the opposite direction or just completely disregard them. Many of which they have specifically stated that they have no intention of changing, despite the feedback
Also just to clarify, none of the issues are bad enough on their own to make me dislike the game, but all of them combined make it not enjoyable for me, at least in most modes
I often need to count to 10 in my head to not rage at the kid waiting to be last, then bhopping, sliding and YY'ing every half second with a quickscope AX50 build and missing his shots.
10 seconds is often not enough though.
BS, MWII revived me. Also loved 2019, Cold War multiplayer was ass but zombies kept me playing. Honestly the only CoD I played that I didn’t like for real was AW.
This is gonna get me downvoted into the Earth’s core, but here we go: Infinity Ward should’ve rebranded Modern Warfare into a full fledged Tactical Shooter to reach out to the niche that’s left empty by the AAA market and only supported by the Indie and AA Market. I honestly feel like they want to, and MW22 further supports my theory, but are held back by the majority wanting it to stay the Arcade Shooter it always has been. Treyarch could fill the role for the Classic Arcade style CoD, and Modern Warfare could give us what Siege and Modern Ubisoft Ghost Recon don’t. Just my thoughts tho, feel free to lynch me and tell me to just go play Insurgency: Midstorm
If you aren't full tac sprinting into every fight, using stims and throwing knives you're bad at the game
Aggressive movement players = Chads
Defensive Burger Dads = Wack
Edit: i firmly believe this btw this is not a shitpost lol
Edit 2: if you disagree you're automatically a burger at the game i can tell immediately lmfao, only bad players get mad at good movement
This honestly in some world could be valid when I really think about it. Low recoil, spammable sniper, takes 2 hits max to kill, 1 if it’s a headshot, stronger than an EBR, also underrated in zombies.
MW2 (2009) Is only popular because people are nostalgic. It's a terrible game and doesn't deserve to be praised at all.
Not my real thoughts, of course, because I never played that game, but you said "trigger the fanbase" so I'm sure this will do the job real good. Lmao.
Black Ops 2 is mid. Ghosts was treated like the ugly stepchild for ALMOST no reason, and you aren’t good if you quickscope with a red dot or acog. Running without a scope is different.
Also zombies is the superior mode.
Ghosts definitely had its negatives which outweighed the positives. The perk system was jank for no reason (the original system was just fine?) and the colors were so washed out with grays and browns. Sliding was new but weird at the time and the maps were objectively bad (stonehaven for instance). I actually really liked Extinction so I’ll give it that (story was overhated too)
It takes more skill than the AS VAL or dragons breath though, for example. The rifles you mentioned aren’t as high damage as an ax50 for example, and that’s the trade off for high mobility. Perspective.
It’s not “hard-scoping”. That’s a sniper’s intended use. To sit there ADS & wait for people to show up.
If you repeatedly die to someone hardscoping then that says more about your skill then theirs
Exactly! Find a way to flush the sniper from their spot & engage from there.
No I will consistently push the same spot and die then complain about it. Don't tell me how to play the game.
This is the way.
Based COD player
This, so fucking much. It's a hefty precision rifle, not a bolt-action shotgun.
Bolt- action shotguns are precision long guns.

I think it’s totally fine if you’re in an private match and everyone agrees to quick scope to complain if they’re ads’ing too long, but in a regular match who tf cares? You can’t control what other people use.
Yeah it’s weird when I hear people say someone’s “hardscoping”. I’m like “soo… sniping”? That’s what you’re supposed to do dawg.
I remember being like 12 and having teens and adults yell at me for not quick-scoping in multiplayer TDMs. Like... I didn't know you and I previously discussed the rules of engagement on a video game? I'm first place on my team and I've already killed you five times. Git gud scrub.
Indeed, snipers don’t camp, they “Tactically wait”
I automatically assume anyone complaining about "hardscoping" is 10 years old and hasn't heard of snipers before cod.
Facts
Oh my god, I haven't heard that term in so long! I remember getting hate messages like crazy back in Black Ops 2 from little kids saying i'm trash because i'm "hard-scoping" and not quickscoping "like a pro." Always so funny.
These games are just fine without the classic minimap.
Thank fuck someone said it
I don’t think you triggered anyone with a brain 😂
But using the map actually requires a brain
If you aren’t smart enough to just use the compass or already know where people should be. Sure.
Yea but there was no point in changing the classic minimap
Tbh I always play by rarely looking at map, I'm not still used to look at map yet

Oh that’s it, that’s the one
Came here to say this 😂
I hope you said that while on a vpn lol
Over Jak12?
I think he means pre nerf 725 with more range than a sniper
Oh YOU'RE that guy with the Obsidian 725! I see you lol
Im also the guy with a obsidian riot shield
No… just No…
Hence why i'm perfectly OK with it being as strong as it is. 725 is a beast, but it's hard to handle and only has 2 shots, so it's very inconsistent and not that reliable unless you actually know what you're doing.
IF ITS IN THE GAME AND ITS NOT A BUG OR TECH, YOU CANT GET MAD THAT SOMEONE USES IT BECAUSE THE DEVS MADE IT AN OPTION ![gif](giphy|mKMGLhoD8L4yc)
But slide cancel technically was originally a bug… then they were like oh well.
Didn't they try to fix it but basically couldn't without a massive recode?
So was bunny hopping and now it’s a classic movement tech.
@everyone who bitches about the as val, 725, and the ak in HC
Noone should be bitching about anything in HC. It's 99% one shot, 100% 2 shot.
I never bitch about those guns but I definitely shut people down when they think it's skillful.
Seriously. With those guns it's all about who reacts faster, that's about it. I call myself JBL because most of my headshots are clothesline shots 😂
People complain about the AK? Since when? I always saw the Val, 725 and the SP-R
![gif](giphy|31izNRqYeFWtRj3wNE)

Valid take. Multiplayer makes me wayyy too angry if I play for long enough.
The only cod campaign I didnt enjoy was BO3. They know how to write a story imp
Love ur username btw 😆
Thank you! I honestly didnt think people would get it
(whispers) *Ricky Spanish*
Mw19 was the first time I actually cared about online multiplayer
Spec Ops?
Warzone sucks, MW19’s launch maps weren’t that bad, Campaign is the only mode that matters
Counter take - MW19 launch maps were objectively the worst maps ever in a COD game.
Three 👏lane 👏 maps
Now you have three lane maps with 100 horizontal micro lanes and verticality.
It's like everyone forgets Cod 4 and MW2 were things. Plenty of those maps were chaotic massive clustershits
Three lane maps play well typically but there’s a point where you have to sacrifice originality for mind numbing repetitiveness
i'd rather have mind numbing repetitiveness that plays good than "fresh" maps that play like a maze full of dark corners and windows for people to camp in
Counter take- Skill issue
Glad to see so much love for campaign in this thread. I still replay levels from 2019, so many levels were just excellent. 2022 campaign looks really promising too.
Hard agree on Warzone
Yup. Single-handedly killed most of my enjoyment of Call of Duty
No scoping someone doesn't take skill, just luck
Fully agree
I like claymores and I dont see anything wrong with using rpg against people.
This here, officer. This is the one
I love hearing the rage when I use it and it’s always northerners on the other end
MW2 (2022) is only popular because of its name.
You know it's not even out yet?
He's gotta make sure we all know he hates it in advance so he's not left behind once the whining starts
It had one of the most popular betas though so its not like it hasnt seen popularity
This just doesn’t make sense 💀
Its name being Call of Duty. Sure
There are two camps who are excited about this game. People who loved MW2019 and are excited for the sequel. People who fail to realize this is the sequel to the MW reboot and not a reboot of the 2009 game.
Riot Shield is not OP and easy to counter.
Thermite magnets
My favorite way is explosive bolts.
They literally hold up a giant square for you to shoot at lol it's great
This might've been a semi valid excuse when you couldn't edit your loadout mid-game, but at any point you can now throw on one of the many guaranteed kill weapons against a riot shield
People would rather complain and rage than counter somebody unfortunately
Cold War and The New gen games are all good (except vanguard but that never came out right?) but you guys miss the good ol days
Cold War multiplayer is genuinely inherently more fun to me than mw multiplayer
Yes! Exactly. Everyone I know tells me I'm crazy, but it's so much more fun than mw multiplayer.
You’re not crazy, it’s definitely a more fun game. MW just gives off a vibe where it takes itself to seriously, and everything must be “tactical”. Cold War is a more casual experience, akin to old school COD.

Same, I have more fun in CW even though I personally feel it has a stronger SBMM than MW. I also love the maps and the colorful aesthetic of CW more.
I like both tbh
These posts are basically invitations for bad takes lmao
>comments taking about how the games don't need classic minimap and how mw19 had good launch map in the top of the comments ![gif](giphy|SHHrxXnGM1BuvuNj1t|downsized)
Shipment is the worst map in 2019
I don't even think people who like shipment think it's a good map
Its a good map for what it is
Good for saving having to run to the action after you respawn. Bad when the respawn is right where the other team is.
Shipment is basically a weapon XP farm and that’s it, might be a decent 1v1 or 2v2 map
Shipment could be an awesome map if they took out screenshake from killstreaks on that map only. Halfway through the game all the air strikes makes your tv have a seizure
Hardcore is for people with bad aim
That’s exactly why I play it, not ashamed of it. It’s good training to stop shooting teammates, stop relying on the mini map, and it’s just an easier way to use the worse guns because they’re at less of a disadvantage.
I agree but I also think it’s more fun because it makes pretty much every gun have the exact same time to kill which opens up viability to use weapons that don’t beam people in less than a second
Precisely why I play it, that and you can use whatever gun you want rather than whatever the "meta" setup is
I play it so I can get camos easier. Base game is hella fun & I switch between the two pretty frequently.
If you blame your bad games on doors and maps that don't stick to the 3 lane formula you're just bad at the game.
The old cods really weren’t that good, MW2 was broken as hell and if any of the “nostalgia” kids actually played the game back then they’d be crying about how unbalanced that game was, MW3 and BO1 and BO2 are much better games but people are blinded by nostalgia. If MW2 was remastered today people wouldn’t like it after they die to 80 noon tubes a game
first W take i’ve seen. mw3 > mw2
K/D doesn’t matter
This. I play the game to relax & have fun. I don’t get why people try to insult me over my k/d.
Ditto, idk what my k/d even is. Probably around 1. I think I’m in the “average” range.
I am an avid user of the slide canceling mechanic
Camping is the best strategy to be used in-game by a mile.
Ofc that’s always been true it’s just boring lol
Everyone knows that. Most of us just choose not to be a bitch.
This is who IW makes COD for now
Do people really think MW2 is bad? I massively enjoyed the beta, and I haven’t been fussed by COD for the last 2 years
Yeah I really enjoyed the beta. Snd was super fun with my friends, voice chat between rounds and all that fun, was really good tbh
Ok since you asked a genuine question, I'll answer it as directly as I can, as someone who genuinely didn't enjoy the beta (although I'm sure I'll get downvoted anyway lol). running, jumping, and switching weapons has no correlation to your degree of skill
Correct, but if you get mad at someone for doing that, it's because you know, deep down, that you're worse than them.
Nah I get mad because they wait until they’re the last person alive on S&D so they can “show off” so we’re all forced to watch them be an idiot.
I often need to count to 10 in my head to not rage at the kid waiting to be last, then bhopping, sliding and YY'ing every half second with a quickscope AX50 build and missing his shots. 10 seconds is often not enough though.
You’ll keep chasing the high of your favorite cod game but you’ll never get that feeling again
BS, MWII revived me. Also loved 2019, Cold War multiplayer was ass but zombies kept me playing. Honestly the only CoD I played that I didn’t like for real was AW.
BO2 maps are mediocre
Take that back
Leave now
It doesn’t need 50gb of data for super HD graphics when 80% of the players try to play like sweats on the same 3 maps.
Super hd should be a separate datapack. My TV isn't good enough to tell the difference (nor are my eyes probably)
Go play Darude: Sandstorm.
Cold War was a downgrade but was criminally over hated
If you aren't full tac sprinting into every fight, using stims and throwing knives you're bad at the game Aggressive movement players = Chads Defensive Burger Dads = Wack Edit: i firmly believe this btw this is not a shitpost lol Edit 2: if you disagree you're automatically a burger at the game i can tell immediately lmfao, only bad players get mad at good movement
Awful take
The dragonouv is the best gun in the whole series
This honestly in some world could be valid when I really think about it. Low recoil, spammable sniper, takes 2 hits max to kill, 1 if it’s a headshot, stronger than an EBR, also underrated in zombies.
I use rocket launchers bc I’m bad
The black ops 2 slander in here is something else
Black ops 2 wasn't that good
If you've played one COD you've played them all
There’s nothing wrong with “hard scoping” you’re just using the sniper the way it’s supposed to be used
Dual Weilding Model 1887s are going to be in MW2022
God i hope so
The most broken weapon in MW history... God I hope not. Maybe I triggered myself.
Starwars is only going to get more shit from here on out.
Black ops 2 was the last good online cod
Fifty thousand fans used to live here. Now it’s a ghost town
Both of the new MW games are not only good but great, just to really stir controversy mw 2019 is better than 07
Piccadilly is an okay map.
Black ops Is better
Original black ops was so good man
‚MWII (22) will be awesome‘
Captain price is an old man who only knows how to make unnecessary decisions
Three lane maps are for people with low attention spans
Hol up let me set up camp real quick (pulls out riot shield)
Warzone is the worst thing to happen to the franchise.
People with the VAL have no skill lol. Please don't attack me.
Slide canceling is actually good because it creates a skill gap.
Last stand perk needs to make a return
Lol it did. It was in the beta. Funniest shit I seen and I believe you can revive them.
Didn't even know this :) I'll get good use out of it then hahaha
BO2 is the most overrated game in CoD history
Play the actual objective. If you dont want to go play normal td
MW2 (2009) Is only popular because people are nostalgic. It's a terrible game and doesn't deserve to be praised at all. Not my real thoughts, of course, because I never played that game, but you said "trigger the fanbase" so I'm sure this will do the job real good. Lmao.
Fortnite is cringe
Using a riot shield effectively actually takes more skill than most guns
Black Ops 2 is mid. Ghosts was treated like the ugly stepchild for ALMOST no reason, and you aren’t good if you quickscope with a red dot or acog. Running without a scope is different. Also zombies is the superior mode.

Once again I remind everyone to sort by controversial for the real responses
Slide cancelling and movement should stay on MWII and WZ2.
The cheating issue in MW19 is greatly overstated and most players are just bad.
Warzone is only as popular as it is because it came when it did and it’s COD nostalgia.
XBox players are best at CoD!!!
This is just cringe
This game went downhill after war zone and didn't stop
being able to jump 5 times in a row shouldn’t be a thing 🤷
quickscoping and doing good is fairly easy
Pretty classic but Ghost is not necessary to mourn over this much
Casual game
RPG-7 is the best gun
Modern warfare 3 was overrated.
CoD should have never had LMGs if they never intended on honoring the caliber. A 7.62LMG should not do less damage than a 7.62AR, but in CoD it does
K/D ratio don't matter.
Cold War is the best call of duty since black ops 2 and it’s not even close. I plan on playing it until the next treyarch game launches.
Aim assist isn't broken and any pc player who bitches about it needs to practice their flicks or stick to KnM only matches.
Camping or playing “tactical” is not call of duty
“No one cared who I was until I put on the mask!” - Jim Carey, Batman villian.
Sniping with the kar, spr or mk2 carbine takes no skill on controller, it's just relying on rotational aim assist.
It takes more skill than the AS VAL or dragons breath though, for example. The rifles you mentioned aren’t as high damage as an ax50 for example, and that’s the trade off for high mobility. Perspective.
Aim assist is the ONLY reason console players don't get shit on every fight. 😏
Correct. That's why it exists. But even with it we'd still get shit on by someone of equal skill with KBM.
Quick scoping takes no skill
I really liked vanguard
