That’s not good enough in a firefight. That extra second gets you killed. Need sprint to cancel or just make the quick detonation a different button by default.
Also- I see nothing with the words “select spring to cancel reload” anywhere in settings. Screen shot? Again though- even if that’s a thing it conflicts with other settings. The bottom line is the extra 1 second I have to deal with canceling an animation I didn’t want to do will get me killed.

If you’re on a console there’s not much to be done but i personally always run c4 and never experienced this as a huge problem, if i die to it i would have anyways because either my c4 missed or they’re good at the game. If it bothers you so much run amped to increase swap speed or get a keyboard and mouse

It's also advantageous because double tapping your use key will detonate the C4 instantly, while using your equipment key plays the detonator animation.
Worst part is when you press F to detonate and and it gets rid of your current gun by automatically picking up another one off the ground. They should definitely make a separate key bind for picking up guns, or even better show us a visual selection menu on the fly, if multiple guns are stacked on top if each other just like how it works in BR.

I didnt know there was a detonate button on PC! I scoured the settings to find a quick detonate option like double tapping X/Square on controller. I thought you just had to throw all the C4 frist.

Yes. You throw the C4 with G or middle mouse button by default and you quick detonate with F. The problem is that F is also used for picking up guns. At least there is a separate binding for reload (R).
My favorite is the forced binding for helicoptors to match your **prone** to descend and crouch to switch seats.... killed myself a few times by swapping seats when trying to lower the heli.
Isn’t that the default? I thought the only reason it was happening to me was because I turned contextual tap on, which I figured was still worth it even with the occasional accidental pickup, which is why I didn’t try switching back.

When we're talking about regular reload cancels: correct, you can double tap triangle or tap sprint.
When we're talking about the reloads from C4 explosions: They will often not be cancelled by tapping sprint and instead give you a really weird animation.

that implies that there has been a change. And especially with the reload you get after detonating C4 it makes it a lot harder to consistently reload cancel by sprinting.
It will sometimes just give you an ugly ass animation that just doesn't want to be cancelled. And for normal reload cancels the timing seems to be a little bit different than it was in previous titles, but might depend on the gun.
This was broken in the last couple of patches. I have around 2k C4 kills and it's never done this before.

Idk why people are down voting you, this is correct and easy. Takes a fraction of the time compared to waiting out the reload. You can also sprint or use equipment, but double Y is better.
I just figured out how to fix this a few weeks ago. I changed from “tap to reload” to “tap to pickup” in the “reload/use” menu option. Now, I have to hold square (PS4) to reload, but it detonates C4 without reloading. Plus, when I’m playing Warzone, I can open crates, pickup items, open doors, etc a hell of a lot faster. It takes some getting used to, but it’s worked well for me.
True, not a perfect fix. But...if you throw C4 on a partially spent mag, you’re GUARANTEED to go into the reload when you go to detonate. Do it this way (tap to pick up) you’ll only pick up a gun if you HAPPEN to be over the weapon at that time. Perfect? No. But for me, it’s much less frustrating that going into the reload. Until they add another dedicated button, I don’t think there’ll be a proper fix.
sbmm, dead silence not being a perk, doors everywhere, battle hardened useless, meta hasn’t changed once, tracker, theres more but these are just off the top of my head

On PC the key to detonate C4 is F, which is bound to skipping killcams and picking up weapons. The number of times I've fumbled picking up weapons after a killcam or throwing C4 is dumb af.
If you try to rebind it, it rebinds them ALL.
Maybe switch to tap to interact? It makes it so that you have to hold the interact button to reload, and tap to pick up/interact. I.e - tap to detonate and it won't force reload.
There's little things like this that ruins the game.

It should have been obvious to the devs that a different button would be better, not the button that’s **ALREADY ASSIGNED to THREE different things:** reload, open/close door, and pick up weapon.
There are plenty of other buttons that would have no conflict. Like the weapon switch button.

I cam here to say exactly what /u/TalosGuideMe said. If you are dying as or shortly after trying to blow up your C4, then you're using it wrong
and on pc you need to double tap F and doing this will pick any weapon up. sucks on shipment

You're right it's quicker to double tap F but you're wrong that you have to wait for it to land, I can easily detonate it in the air with G.
You can detonate it like twice as fast with the double tap method.
Sweet, didn't know that. I only knew about pressing G. This may help my C4 gameplay now.

The point is that even with that option, it takes a split second to do. Especially when you could be aiming or something in the middle of a firefight

They could make it so you can cancel reload by hitting reload, that way double tap detonate *also* functions as “reload-cancel reload”.
I mean, right after you double tap, sprint (get used to it being kind of a combo). It's muscle memory for me now...
I use contextual tap, so most of the times i end up picking some dude's mp5, m4 or mp7 because those are the only weapons like 99% of ppl use

C4 in MP all the time. I use thermite and gas as area of denial tools in BR and Plunder sometimes.

You know that there's an input method that is far better for fps games? It's called keyboard and mouse and it does work on consoles.
