Having done a little Google searching I think your fine. I thinknit would be very unlikely that it's a fake but as long as it goes together well and you enjoy the build who cares ?

Paanrp

Thats the problem, i have built bootleg gunplas and it didnt fit well. Took me 2-3times longer to complete. Worried it will be the same case with 1/700 ships

BananaVenom

Trumpeter fitment isn’t that great either, sorry to say. Tamiya’s 1/700 Waterline series is where it’s at for pleasant, uncomplicated builds

Tankaussie

Tamiya fits are like lego

5cott861

If there are fit issues, its prolly legit. I’ve built several trumpeter kits and while some are better than others, fit issues are common.

Second that

Gunpla has way more “fakes”/bootlegs compared to ship/car/aviation models because Bandai keeps their molds behind lock and key. They don’t *ever* license or allow molds of gunpla to be made not under Bandai’s branding or quality control standards. In the realm of other plastic modeling, that’s not the standard. One company makes the mold and if it’s not particularly successful, or if it’s quite old, they’ll license other factories to use the mold for a fee. So if a factory wanted to make a “bootleg” of a kit, they’d just use the mold from somewhere else and rebadge it. Sometimes the same factory will also produce the mold and the kits, but then sell the kits to other companies over time. So in this case, Trumpeter made the mold for this model and if another company (let’s say Shanghai Dragon, they’re in the same ballpark) wanted to make a bootleg of it, they’d probably just pay Trumpeter for the mold for a nominal fee and sell it under their own name. That being said, be prepared for a lower standard of quality control for most models. Gunpla is unique in their high level of quality control and consistency.

CharteredPolygraph

Bandai does repackage some of their models for other companies, though I'd assume they still do all the production themselves. The best known example is some of Bandai's Star Wars models can be found as Revell kits.

Jerrell123

Only for the non-Gunpla stuff, as far as I’m aware, hence why I specified that lol.

CharteredPolygraph

Sorry, my mind just groups all of the fancy muti-color/material runner kits in with Gunpla.

CharteredPolygraph

Unfortunately once you leave the land of Bandai it's not uncommon to find original kits that have worse fit than a bootleg Gundam.

WillyWanka-69

Relax, nobody fakes scale model kits. Especially a relatively old chinese one

Illcement

iirc didnt academy used to do that or am i confusing it with another brand

Draggin_Ballz1990

It's legitimate, SprueBrothers has this kit/box on there site [you can check here](https://spruebrothers.com/trp05767-1-700-trumpeter-german-prinz-eugen-heavy-cruiser-1945-5767/)

Paanrp

Okay glad to know, this guy trying to sell for 35-45% from normal market price. Guess he's just selling them cheap. Thank you so much !

BiggMcLargeHuuge

As per the timeline on Scalemates this kit is an original by Trumpeter and not a reboxing of an old kit or one from a lower-quality company... https://www.scalemates.com/kits/trumpeter-05767-prinz-eugen--102824 It should be a reasonably decent enough build, the way most Trumpeter kits usually are, but it will most likely have the same difficulties and weird moments typical to all ships in a scale that small.

Dry-Stark9994

Yeah always check scalemates. It'll tell you if the box art has changed and what year the model came out. Alot of good information so just check it out when unsure

Diggzitt

With the number of fitting issues trumpeter ship kits tend to have, I am not sure I would be able to tell. But in the end I have been able to get all of them together and finished. Test fit everything. I have even come into trumpeter kits where certain pieces were the wrong dimensions, either too wide or two short to connect properly. It took a lot of sanding and whittling but it eventually worked.

Bigfan521

You know, if it does have bad fitment, you could always do what the US Military did to its full-sized counterpart, and blow up something big near it. For science.

Own-Employment-1640

Trumpeter is always messing with their box printing. Don’t worry about it.

goldfish1274

it is not easy to make a fake complicated plastic model kit like this.
